  1. Well thank you for finally seeing it my way... ?oh boy? Once again you over-react. If the rumor is true about them re-signing HHCD it doesn't make much sense for them to try and sign a FA SS too. For the record, and for as much as I like Clinton-Dix, I agreed with others (maybe even you) that he’s just another FS and we don’t need that. I’d rather see a player like Amos back there where Jackson was able to roam more. With Dix back there they split the field in half and aren’t able to play sideline to sideline. Maybe with Amukamara leaving they’re less concerned about having to cover him over the top? Id have to read up on Paganos last defenses to see how he used safeties. It might make more sense on where they’re headed.
  2. Sure I get it. Think there was one other site that mentioned it too. And at this point it’s all rumor and conjecture. Even the guy who posted the rumor tweet said ‘one of the teams’ was Chicago. Meaning if there are discussions of Carr being traded, there may be a few suitors. Nothing much of significance will probably happen until the 18th.
  3. Saw the rumor that someone else posted regarding the potential of HHCD coming back. I suppose there are worse things that could happen. But supports the idea SS isn’t as much a need, not enough to pay a high price for another FA. That is until we see what price Ha Ha costs the team... In other news, the rumors for Derek Carr to Chicago are heating up: https://beargoggleson.com/2020/03/14/chicago-bears-rumors-derek-carr-trade/
  4. My passion is Bears football. I blame my forked tongue on my Irish roots! “Sliante” to all of you my friends!!!
  5. If my math is right that means ~$7million/year? Guaranteed money I’m guessing plays into the cap where the overall contract does not? Sorry to see Kwit is looking elsewhere. Gotta go where the money takes you I guess. He’ll probably end up like a Shea McClellin where he’ll be a ‘meh’ player and still win a Super Bowl ring. But I’m glad Danny is back. He deserves it. Love me some Danny T!
  6. What gets me about your responses is how simply offended you get by someone (namely me) that has a contrarian view from yours. You’re way too sensitive for someone who is as arrogant about your thoughts. When you project a suggestion like a FA or draft pick it’s an absolute not a possibility. That’s why I wonder if you’re not secretly Ryan Pace because 1) you’re so sure what the Bears are going to do and 2) are so offended when you’re wrong or in this case conflicted. I know it bothers you I was right about Cutler, about Trubisky (so far) and that Nagy should’ve had starters play in the preseason last season and the season before (points I made and you made clear were ridiculous in your opinion). These are just a few examples of where we’ve disagreed in the past and will continue to do so I’m sure. Doesn’t bother me, so it shouldn’t bother you. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe I’m not. Don’t take it personal. Make your pompous prediction and move on... Go Bears.
  7. Not when you’re talking about higher ticket FAs. (The theme of this thread). I suspect that yes a player like Bush or even DHC (ick) could return but I don’t see them making a hard run if there becomes a fight for veteran FA safeties.
  8. I say they draft one. SS isn’t as much a need as OL, TE or even “backup” (competition - start worthy) QB. McKinney (Bama) and Delpit (LSU) are unquestionably the top two and depending on other teams’ needs could drop into the 2nd round. But there are a few good players in the “Tier 2” level too. JR Reid (Georgia) is one Ive heard some chatter on. He and Roquan are friends. And outside of Floyd the Bears have done good with Georgia players as of late . https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2020-nfl-draft-safety-rankings-unique-class-lacks-elite-options-but-delivers-depth/
  9. Well would you look at that, we agree on something. AZ: gotta believe that this is a team friendly deal. The savings of it (assuming as much) will allow them to bring back KPL who himself was on the rise late last season.
  10. Him too or Barrett. Either would be an upgrade. And/or try KPL off the edge.
  11. Maybe you missed it but Mariota and Trubisky are not nearly identical in their career trajectories but they also have the same agent. Many 'in the biz' seem to think that works contrary to what agents do; maintaining a 'starting contract' for one QB (Trubisky) while representing another QB to be a back-up (Mariota). Then there's the whole Mariota was replaced by the not so great Ryan Tannehill thing. But don't get me wrong, I like Mariota...at this point I'm not sure how he'd be a better option that Trubisky. And you keep typing 'Sudeth' but I think you mean 'Sudfeld' who is the THIRD STRING QB for Philadelphia. Not sure how you endorse a guy you can't get his name right AND who can't even find a starting job somewhere else and lost out to Josh McCown last year as a back-up for the Eagles? If you're going to go after a third string QB 'in that system' why not just bring back Tyler Bray?
  12. I didn’t know either for sure but this taken from a piece on NBC News: “The Bears would probably get hit with tampering charges, seeing as Manning — who retired in January — is still under contract with the New York Giants, and will be until the new league year begins March 18. “
  13. My comment was more along the lines of ‘fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice...’. And it was proven (or assumed) that Pace never really fooled anyone but himself with Trubisky. With Eli and this potential sneaking around, I’m wary of what may come from it.
  14. For some reason, this line seems eerily familiar to me (especially if you change one name). Where have I seen this before? https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/heres-the-fake-name-mitch-trubisky-used-to-keep-his-dinner-with-the-bears-a-secret/
  15. I absolutely love this article! Myself a Toyota Tundra guy wishes they had a QB comparable to that. Rugged and will last forever.
  16. I’m expanding my horizons with QBs I’d like to see as potential FAs or trades beyond Carr. Those being Dalton, McCarron or even Alex Smith (if he can prove health wise he’s capable). I don’t think all hope is lost should the team not find an adequate draft prospect. They should at least consider one in the later rounds; like 3-4.
  17. Oh yeah...that’s cool!
  18. I had an odd feeling I was either being messed with by an Admin or hacked...or coronavirus had gotten me.
  19. What the? I did not write that. Not even where the null was. I had actually made a comment about no QBs but realized you were only talking about 2nd round so I deleted it. I’ll even disagree with myself and say no to getting rid of Eddie Jackson. How weird.
  20. Not any worse than a guy from FLORIDA International Univ. “poor mechanics” and “under throws” I believe you said? As far as strong arms; remember that guy Cutler? Strong arms don’t always equate to great success...not in Chicago. In this instance we may want to consider ‘body of work’ than a bad day at the combine. Trubisky isn’t known for long ball accuracy but between the two, Fromm has more starter (and successful) history. And his “poor” combine could translate to a lower pick like 3rd or 4th round which is good.
  21. Still have to think IF the Bears draft a QB they need to look at Fromm. Granted he’s not completely polished but if you apply the Bill Parcells model of a good QB he checks many boxes. And has a 38-6 record as the Georgia QB... in the SEC. and he’s familiar with Wims and Ridley. Side by side with Trubiksy they have compatible statistics with Trubiksy edging Fromm with a 157 QB rating to Fromm’s 156. Of course Fromm has 43 starts (to Trubiksys 13) three bowl games (Trubiksys zero) and ~8,000 yards passing to ~4,000 for Mitch. https://beargoggleson.com/2020/03/01/chicago-bears-combine-jake-fromm/
  22. Absolutely worth it!!!
