  1. Remember when we heard of a contingent of Bears staff flying private to the West Coast to allegedly talk with Kingsbury and ??? (Before he was hired in WA and the Bears had hired Waldron). Many speculated it was because Kingsbury best knew Williams as the OC in USC and that the Bears were set on getting Kingsbury.
  2. I did as you requested and here is what I came away with (apologies to others for the length). I should preface this by saying on another podcast Warner said he has never tried to project how well a college QB will do in the NFL. Just that he can comment on the traits of QBs and how he thinks they'll do going forward. Also of note, others in the social media world pointed out that Warner predicted Bryce Young and Zach Wilson would do great in the NFL, that CJ Stroud's play wouldn't transfer to the NFL and that Justin Herbert would struggle. For the record he still ranks this year's QBs as: Williams (although he does say he needs to see more tape on him) Daniels Penix or Nix (interchangeable in his mind) Maye (sorry Mongo) McCarthy I watched pretty much the whole video you included and did some screengrabs in a few instances. Unfortunately, I'm not tech-savvy enough to stick them next to the narrative so they may have been posted out of order. So about play 3-4 we see Williams do an RPO with a deep read. He opts for the deep read and overthrows him by a bit. The very next play, same thing but along the left side. Again, he overthrows the receiver. Play 5(?) ends up having no receiver open to begin with so "he makes things happen" and eventually finds a receiver open. (Justin does this type of thing all the time and it's called "hero ball" and considered a bad thing). About 8 mins in was a screen throw and an example of Williams being able to throw from different arm angles. Something we've see Justin do time and again. In fact some have commented on how often Justin has had his passes batted down. How much better do you think a QB that allegedly is 6'1" (and some change) would do compared to a QB that is 6'3"? At about 9 mins in we see what you and Warner refer to as progression reading. I would agree, except... He starts by working from right to left. Warner in fact points that out. Williams ends up throwing to a receiver along the left side when a receiver is open on the right-hand side he was just "reading" (1st picture below). At 16 mins. in we see him go to the receiver along the right side with single man coverage. Warner says he's not a fan of this throw but 'not mad at him for trying' (he missed). Meanwhile to his left he had the check down receiver and another receiver about 20 yards up field coming back open. A question I ask is maybe he is better at middle of the field passing (Justin's weakness) but so far hasn't shown a lot of overly impressive deep passing success. That is unless you count the aforementioned improv play (aka hero ball). Case in point: just around 19 mins he starts with a read on the left side and has no one open. Meanwhile he has a similar play development with a slot (?) receiver working back to open space and about 15-20 yards beyond LOS (picture 2). Instead Williams tries deep and gets the INT. Warner remarks? "Caleb tries to make too much out of nothing." (aka hero ball). A few plays later shows the slot wr execute a hook route on the right side. Warner asks out loud why he doesn't do like he did before and throw quick to the open receiver (picture 3). Instead he takes off and gets the sack. After watching this I would pose the same question to you that you ask of Fields. On those short and quick reads, how many of them are "scripted"? We see in the last illustration a play that he apparently has done time and again but misses the open read and takes off, only to get sacked. Warner mentions at the beginning of the video how this is Colorado and that they didn't have a very good defense (he admits as much in other podcasts of looking for stats and not how they do against ranked competition). Nevertheless, this plays into the concern (I have) when he is pitted against better teams. So far he hasn't proven he's really all that great against that type competition. His three game losing streak from last season sorta shows that.
  3. Adam has asked that several times. DJ Moore has also repeated this commentary and said he brought it up during the exit interviews. My response to Adam (and others) is he could have left well enough alone and said nothing at all or just been vague in his response. Like ‘it’s been great playing with Justin and I trust the team will do what’s best for the team’. But he has been pretty specific. He also went as far as saying if he had to choose between the “top two” QBs in the draft and Justin, he’d choose Justin. (I’m paraphrasing of course). Now ask yourself this. If the player you made ‘the move’ to get last year says all this AND has the career year he had. What weight do you think his opinion has? And no do I think he’s running the team.
  4. If you have a QB as capable as Fields and with Moore…yes it’s realistic. DJ Moore has said it himself. “His growth has been phenomenal. If you look at the games where he came back off of injury, he’s been everything you could ask out of a quarterback. Puts us in a position to win, getting the ball to his playmakers and if he’s gotta do it himself he does it himself and takes it like 50, 60 yards and does his thing. That’s all you can ask, is just steady growth and that’s what he did.” And added that he and MHJ grew up together and ran on the same track team. He also suggested it would be “all love” if he were to join the Bears. But what does Moore know? He only played with Justin and had a career year while doing so. ??‍♂️
  5. One name: Bryce Young. Seriously ask yourself this question again, what are the odds of one player busting (IE: Williams) vs 2-3 other high end players that could be gotten with trading the 1st overall? And consider one of those could be another first round for next year?
  6. With the addition of Byard that brings a total of 10 players brought over from Tennessee since Poles took over as GM. Interesting.
  7. Ironic if Floyd were to come back to where he was drafted. Would that be considered a ‘success’ by Pace? After he left the Bears he was picked up by the Rams and eventually won a SB. More recently has been playing with Buffalo and is familiar with the Bears current DC Washington.
  8. Ironic how just a few stanzas ago you used sportswriter Diana Rossini’s “reaction” to emphasize how “idiotic” it is to still consider Justin Fields as the Bears QB.
  9. Besides David Kaplan, who are these other “pundits, reporters and NFL people”? You know this to be fact? The part about “making no sense” is an opinion you hold. But the part about “being so cocky…” is accurate. Especially if you’re wrong. Still you haven’t explained how comparing ‘apples to apples’ between Williams and Fields collegiately makes you sure Williams will be able to make the NFL transition successfully. You’ve asked me to watch your films, which I will, but nowhere have you been able to explain based on his product and performance SO FAR that he’ll do better in the NFL than will Fields.
  10. And the Field supporters are ‘cultish’. ? This guy hasn’t played a single NFL down and suddenly not only is he the second coming but now he’s compared to the likes of Payton, Brady and Jordan?
  11. Yeah unfortunately we are heading back to the doldrums and 17 degrees of Alaska tonight. ?
  12. True. ? This post brought to you courtesy of Corona Extra. (Super size).
  13. So is the #1 overall. ?? And I’ll pass on your ‘passing’. I’ll take your word for it .
  14. Or trying to keep other teams (and “experts” like Shefter) guessing. Who knows, maybe Fields is aware with all that is going on behind the scenes (I like a good conspiracy). Committing themselves one way or the other helps other teams with appropriate leverage to negotiate to their favor. On the surface Poles appears to be playing Kasparov level chess. And from my military days what is known as Psy-ops.
  15. The facts also tell me that both Getsy and Nagy were fired from Chicago. So far Fields has not.
  16. Nagy went back under the umbrella of Andy Reid and the talent of Mahomes as his cover. Look no further than Bienemy purposefully trying to get from under that same cover and finding himself out of a job in Washington and now back in the college ranks with UCLA. As far as Getsy goes, the best I can hypothesize is he’s the same animal as Nathaniel Hackett. The guy who lost his HC gig after one year and floundered as an OC with the Jets once Rodgers was unavailable. Getsy IMHO has a lot more to prove than does Justin.
  17. Where have you read someone, Poles or Warren or even Flus who has said they “don’t believe in Justin”? Weren’t there reports not all that long ago that said Flus was “defending Justin” during OC interviews? Didn’t Warren state not only that he believed Justin was a great athlete he also believes in a ‘three-four year process’? Didn’t Poles just recently state he didn’t like to “leave people in the gray” when it came to what would happen next? That definitely doesn't indicate to me a decision was or had been made. Shefter himself had to retract (for all intents and purposes) what he thought the Bears would be doing with regards to Fields. Never mind the number of players currently in the locker room who have come forward to support Justin. And “polling” among fans still shows a distinct 50/50 divide. The only ones who have said Justin is done in Chicago are a handful of “experts” who think they know the answer. The lying season is most certainly alive.
  18. He cemented the idea that Shefter hasn’t been able to predict what Poles would do (or has done) with the team. And that Poles does a great job playing NFL poker. He also reminded me how enviable a position the Bears are in because of the options they have ahead of them. This really enforces, for me, how well a job Poles is doing.
  19. Sure I get what you’re saying. But to suggest that because Williams is the ‘sure thing’ at #1 overall and is the second coming to his legions, does not “correlate” to him winning “multiple super bowls”. The past history and record doesn’t support it outright.
  20. Your opinion of others being wrong where you are not is what I take issue with. Your opinion of football is entirely seperate. Assholes and opinions we all got. As far as saying “Fields has never been a winner…” - seriously? His collegiate record as a starter at OSU is 20-2. Those two losses being in the playoffs. How well did your man Caleb do in the playoffs? Actually I’ll tell ya. The year he won the Heisman (2022) he went into the PAC12 championship with USC ranked 4th and lost to 12th ranked Utah 47-24. Then during the Cotton Bowl lost to the formidable Green Wave from Tulane 46-45. The second season, where he regressed from his Heisman campaign, he closed the season out with three straight losses and chose to opt out of the Holiday Bowl where his team managed to win 42-28. You remember that one where his backup threw 6 TDs? But I digress. What’s this? “Excuses”? Who were these teams he scored 30+ against? Rice, Stanford, Oregon State? For the sake of argument I’ll do what I can to watch some “All-22” and get back with you. Something tells me my ‘opinion’ won’t be a lot different but I’ll give it due diligence. I’d hate for you to have to resort to petty name calling and refer to me as a blind ‘cultist’.
  21. In the current “Super Bowl era” 24 QBs have been selected #1 overall. Of those 7 have played in and won a Super Bowl. Of the 58 Super Bowls played so far those 7 (~12%) have contributed to 15 Super Bowl wins (~26%). Do you really think Williams is good enough to be in that top 25% of all QBs ever picked? If so, how? Where does he rate against those other 7 that makes you so convinced he’s that “elite”? Others have recently commented on your dismissal of those of us who are still in the Fields camp. And frankly I’m growing tired of it. You continuously volley covert commentary like calling out Fields’ supporters as “crazy” (above) or “delusional” and it’s gotten old. If you want to stick to pure facts and compare I’m good with it. Save the pettiness for somewhere else. So far I’ve seen nothing (on paper) that convinces me that Williams is the next best thing. For me the stats that Fields left collegiately were better than Williams. His overall record far outpaced Williams against much better competition to include the college playoffs . When he faced adversity, both physically (vs clemson 2021) and otherwise (COVID Big 10) he didn’t wither on the vine. Save the “he’s a great guy and terrific athlete” BS because that’s lazy. Williams’ highlight films and NFL prospectus (“takes too many sacks” and is ‘fantastic at improvisation’) point to a younger Justin. Yet when Justin does it, he’s a failure. To tell me Williams is better, collegiately, is just simply not true. And to compare him to how well he’ll measure up to Fields professionally is skeptical at best.
  22. I’ve always been skeptical of Jaylon until this last season. Over his career I think he benefited more from not so good opposite corner play than his own actual performance. This year he came alive. Question I have is he more like Fuller (where he seemed to do better when he was due money) or will he play more like he did last season with regularity? If they think he’s a one hit wonder, need to trade him now. ‘Strike while the iron is hot.’
  23. Well at least I’m a “trusted source”. ?
