  1. Hell no! I don't want any Jurassic Park coaches. Especially once that just got ran...
  2. Drafting linemen aren't good media hype tools. It's only sexy three years down the road. The McCaskey's have ruined this franchise.
  3. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
  4. IMO - the best of both worlds is Gruden. Strong leader, proven, offensive minded and swag for days. I remember being at a function and Bobby Knight walked in. He instantly owned the room. That's Chucky. I don't think Vrabel or Johnson have that. But I do believe people would bend an hear to hear Johnson speak before Vrabel. In the end, you're right about different opinions and how people see things. I just hope we get it right.
  5. My thing with Johnson is he talks without reservation and because he doesn't care what you think. He also is self deprecating, which tells me he's comfortable in his own skin. IE: his own man. Lastly, he knows exactly what his players are and how to weaponize them. Brilliant people know when they have you. It's chess vs checkers. Bill Walsh had it. Maybe Ben Johnson does too.
  6. Watching this, I think Johnson has the chops to command a room...
  7. 💯! LT is priority one. Everything on the OL evolves from there.
  8. Athletes respect leaders, period. Athletes don't care how they get there. Just get there. That is the end game. The locker room would only get stuck Gruden after success. Same as Belichick. He was fortunate to have Brady hold it together by taking smaller contacts with his unselfishness.
  9. His players completely stood for him. I'm sorry, but that dude had beyond enormous lips. Black or white, we used to bust each other's balls over mental and physical traits. That's just locker room mentality. Being a teammate transcends race. Same with military. That being said, you're probably right, from the McCaskey perspective. They want Jesus, not what Jesus would do...
  10. I think Vrabel is the safest choice. Johnson could be boom or bust. I'll take either. My top choice is still Gruden.
  11. I wouldn't call Marc Trestman a successful offensive coordinator. For one reason or another, he didn't stick anywhere for long. Nagy wasn't the talent. Everyone knows it's Reid. Gase was a hot new name and was hired because of Cutler. Josh McDaniel, see Tom Brady. Mike Martz's offense requires the perfect talent. Daboll was hamstrung by Daniel Jones. Ben Johnson is the only one that built something from the ground up. He took Jared Goff from a throw away to a stud. We didn't think Montgomery was the answer and he made him better. He knows how to utilize speed and power from the running back position. He schemes well for the talent he works with. Of course he benefits from having a great, but it shows what he can do with our people when we fix it.
  12. You got me with this statement Lucky. I've been racking brain trying to find reasons he wouldn't work versus the reasons he will. If he's hired as HC, he's liable to bring, by promoting, his entire staff. He's gotten excellent play out every position. Getting those position coaches, with what they know and the types they look for, will be gold. Our defense quit for two reasons. One: they constantly have to play from behind, due to not scoring in the first quarter. Two: we fired their general. Scoring cures everything! I'm in Lucky! Still like Gruden too...
  13. Nope. The OL is decimated and the defense has quit. I would suspend Edmunds for the final two games. He's quit completely.
  14. Doesn't look we are going to move off 9.
  15. Johnson has a cool calm demeanor. It's exactly what Georgie wants. Rex Ryan calls him a modern day Bill Walsh. Players needs emotional leaders more than ever, due to modern societal softness. I'd endorse Johnson, only if he can bring in some alpha coordinators...
  16. I'll be pissed off about this until we start winning again. We ALL knew it and Poles blew it!
  17. Here's mine. I don't think we'll take three OL, but the trade and draft fell really well. Names will rise and fall over the next several months, but something similar can play out.
  18. Been thinking about this for a long time. What I see is close, but not solid. On defense, the Dexter experiment at 3 tech should be over. He simply doesn't have the instincts to get to the QB. What he does have is great functional strength. I put him next to Tez as a 1/2 tech. Start eating buddy. For now, Walker is our starting 3 tech. We need pressure inside and out, so free agency and draft should concentrate on 3 tech and edge. On offense, we have Jones, Jenkins, Kiran and Wright as known keepers. Shelton, Pryor and Kramer really do nothing for me, but Shelton is the easy choice to keep. Let the others fight it out. So, I would absolutely draft left tackle as the highest priority of team needs. Let Braxton fight. Keep Jenkins, but definitely have someone that wants his job ready to take it. This comes in the form of another high draft choice that plays IOL. Let the rookie develop into a job taker. I'm seeing Shelton at OC until that rookie develops, as I'm not seeing anything in the free agent market. Poles blew it this year. At RG, I see a free agent or Jones or Kiran. It's coming down to two draftees and at least one FA on both sides of the ball. I think we all see the same thing. One last thing that could help the DL is if the MLB would put his hat in a gap like he's supposed to. When is the last time you saw Edmunds make a play in the hole? It's always Edwards and Sandborn. One last item for the OL is Caleb taking the play in front of him instead of hero ball. He's sacked himself a good forty times this year. He's tough but won't survive it.
  19. Other than left tackle, center is a crucial upgrade. It's too early to look at draft sites for centers. Some of the smaller schools have their best player at left tackle. Most of the time that player will not translate to NFL left tackle, but will have all the mental and athletic traits to play the interior. The tackle you mentioned is a perfect example. I believe he played center, early in college, and moved out due to talent. If we can find a guy like that, with a HS wrestling background, we can strike gold. I would definitely sign Tevin, unless he hates living in Chicago, he won't be overly demanding. He's rated as the eighth best free agent interior player. Someone will want him.
  20. Agreed. Parity is king in the NFL. The difference between winning and losing are the little things like; penalties, turnovers, execution and coaching. We are close on talent, but coaching is really lacking.
  21. He's different. Marshawn Lynch's contact balance with speed.
  22. I have a theory with nothing but circumstantial evidence. We've all heard the rumors of McCaskey meddling. They didn't hire Ditka, but I imagine he scarred them for eternity. After the Superbowl, he was too powerful to get rid of. Once free agency hit and Mikey wouldn't pay anyone, I can imagine all hell broke loose at headquarters and their was no getting away from it. Even though they should never have a say on a head coach, I imagine they always do. And they never want anything like Ditka again. Mr Warren has some convincing to do...
