Poles positive report card
This is what baffles me. What do you see in Justin, that you didn't see in Mitch? Looking back I wanted to keep Mitch another year, while they blew up the team. What they did was get rid of Mitch, drafted Fields and didn't blow anything up. The blow up happened a year later. They used Fields as a punching bag for the last two years of the rebuild. I believe Justin is seeing ghosts due to three years of shell shock. Using Bryce Young is not a very good argument point. For starters, he's not rated nearly as high as Williams and Maye. Young does not have a single generational trait about him. (Size, speed arm talent). Secondly, everyone knew we were trading that pick, as it the only thing that made sense. We seemed last year, "the year of Justin", because we knew it wasn't about wins and losses. It was about the development of Justin. We all said, before the season started, that we needed to see him get the ball out on time. He failed at it. Hindsight is exactly what we said it would be, yet we are still talking about it's translation.

This! Honestly, it's like politics. Listening to someone you don't politically align with is sometimes hurtful to the ears. But, if you listen without the intent of responding. IE just listen. You may understand better that there is more than one right answer. What we are discussing lately is, what's the best right answer?

Which Rookie QB should we draft to replace Fields?
Rattler? He's projected to go in the third round. However, the dude has talent. Quick release, accurate and can sling it. They say he needs to mature a little more, but last year was a good sign in that area.

For Waldren to supplant Flus, Flus would really have to shit the bed defensively. I'm not sure if I've ever seen a HC fired and replaced by his coordinator, other than in season.

Which Rookie QB should we draft to replace Fields?
Or Fields doesn't progress and you passed on Drake Maye, who is the other generational QB in this draft. Queue a certain bruin from the last untamed wilderness...?

Something else to consider. Was he named team captain? That will tell you a lot. And yes, he was.

Shane Waldron hired as the new Bears OC
I don't see it that way. Nobody wants to come coach for a complete rebuild. Getsy paid a price.

There's a right tackle that's killing it too. I forget his name. Samoan dude. Darnell Wright clone.

PFF's Top WR Free Agents linked to the Bears
I'm good with Ridley, but that has to be the beginning. We need a move TE and a solid two...

Something I greatly fear is that the family gets involved. Keeping Justin Fields is the sure thing for getting back to the playoffs. Mikey and his Harvard business degree love a team that produces sell outs, swag sales and lots of concessions. It's in the business model. Rookie QBs will generate buzz, with potential greatness. Nothing feeds the coffers like a playoff game or two.

Which Rookie QB should we draft to replace Fields?
But but but Skip. You forgot Sam Howell. At his advanced age Mack Brown isn't running anything. Maye has those numbers with two OC's in his last two years. Call it delusional. I got a vibe... As far as stats go, defenses started playing seven and eight off the ball to diminish the deep passing game, so Drake beat them underneath. Maturity...

I've said it many times, Drake Maye is our guy. Drake F'n Maye! The momentum is building. Tim Hassellbeck and Dan Orlovsky are the latest. The was also a video I watched where a group of NFL executives where talking about generational QBs and they said, "out of the last four years, they have seen three. Lawrence, Williams and Maye." I also watched an SC interview with Maye before the season. All the dude does is compete. It doesn't matter if it's with Sam Howell or his brothers and Dad. He doesn't care if it's golf or pickleball. He's made for the moment and it won't be too big for him. Eat it Grizz!

Agreed. He was also injured a good portion of the season. That may have affected how Flus used him.
