O'Donnell Returns
When it comes to Parkey I remember reading or hearing something about how his approach to each kick is inconsistent, either in his approach/setup itself or his mechanics in kicking the ball. If that's the case it's much like a QB your only as good as your mechanics generally.

Gostowski could be a bit pricy, but if we could fit him in it would be worth it. Fixing our kicker situation is arguably our biggest need. I don’t exactly have high hopes for jones or blewit

Justin Houston's still out there, as is Ziggy Ansah, Shane Ray, Mathews A little surprised we haven't shown interest in Gostkowski with our need at Kicker

Haven’t heard Or seen anything about Bryce. After a flurry of signings and trades he’s still unsigned. Wonder if his market isn’t as big as he thought it’d be. Wonder if there’s a chance we still resign him? Not sure where we are cap wise.though. Can’t be much left.

Mike Davis, RB is a Bear
Definitely an upgrade at the RB3 spot. It'll be interesting what our RB group looks like heading into camp. Davis and Cohen are the only sure things. With all the trade rumors surrounding Howard (what's new?), we're either looking to replace him via trade/FA or Draft. I'm torn on Howard as on one hand I like him and feel like he can contribute to this offense especially if he continues to improve on receiving. On the other hand if we could bring in someone who is more naturally suited for Nagy's offense then that could work out well for both parties. Howard is more build for ground and pound. I just don't want to see us trade Howard just to trade him in other words make a change just to make a change.

certainly is interesting how much restructuring has happened this offseason. Usually means they are clearing space to make one or two splashes in FA. Given how shallow our puddle is it won't likely be a huge splash even with the restructures.

Buster Skrine, CB to Bears
Good point. He was on the Jets. He'll be coming into a much better situation here. Let's hope he pans out. I was hoping we'd keep one of Callahan or Amos now it seems likely we'll keep neither with Amos gone and likely a lot of interest in Bryce. If it were me I'd have a hard time leaving Chicago and what is being built here and not be a part of it. But on the other hand both could have had their peak season and it's an opportunity to cash in and make the most of it. Amos for sure is going to have a significant downgrade in talent around him.

Congrats to Sam, these guys are often the unsung heroes of building winning teams. One thing about Pace is he seems to have a genuine appreciation and respect for everyone in the organization whether your a high profile employee to lowest profile employee. It creates such a good positive work environment when no matter what your job is your boss/manager has your back and respects you and appreciates the sacrifices you make to make the team better. That makes you as an employee want to work hard. Sam and the rest of our scouts have done an outstanding job. I feel like we've been stringing together some very solid drafts in the last few years or so. These guys sacrifice a lot and their job is virtually never done. Whether it's during college season or offseason these guys give a lot of time to traveling, studying film, talking to players, coaches. It's their job to look for and find players for us to draft. Sam's list of players he's scouted is pretty darn good. Well deserving of the award. Also like that he is looking to bring in guys who are of high character and remind him of Payton. He's not just interested in talent but looks for guys who have high character to go with their talent.- Roquan Smith Reflections Of My Rookie Season
Good read. Kid seems to be well grounded and a hard worker. He had a good situation to come into as a rookie. He got better as the season went on. His future and the future of our D is bright. We have a good young core to build on who's hungry to get better. Chuck has inherited a great group of guys to work with. At the start of his Bears career was the long holdout that almost crept into the start of the season, so he started in a hole both schematically, physically, and fanbase. But now after the season he did what he needed to make up for that. As the season went on and he got better and better, I enjoyed watching him play and grow in this defense. He needed to have a good rookie campaign to make people forget about the holdout and he did just that. He's certainly shown why we took him 8th overall.- Peanut Tillman now an FBI Agent
Congrats and well done Peanut, I'm sure he will do well.- Gould officially tagged by SF
- Kyle Long restructured deal to stay a Bear!
Glad to see this get done, I think he can have a return to form season, he'll have a full offseason where he's not coming off an injury or surgeries. He's one of those good guys who are easy to root for. Here's to a healthy season that should help our run game.- Dion Sims to be cut
I'd forgotten about Glennon lol Probably suppressed memories. A few million here and there, every little bit helps. No surprise with Sims he's not added anything to the team except for dropping passes.- Massie signed to 4-yr Extension
loving these team friendly deals that also reward the player. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that the Bears are an ascending team and players are motivated to work with management to find a contract that works for both. Pace has done a good job of working out deals that reward our own but also don't hinder us from being able to extend more of our own and add pieces as needed.- Clay Matthews FA
that was almost doomed from the get go. He was coming from a 4-3 scheme as a DE, trying to play in a 4-3 as an OLB is wasn't a good fit for his skill set or experience. We were hoping his talent would allow his play to translate from 4-3 to 3-4 and it didn't. His age also was working against him.- Would you?
I'd say no too. Not just because I'd rather stick with Floyd who got stronger as the season progressed I'd like to see him continue that trend into next year. I'd also like to see us stand pat with our draft capitol as we are limited as it is I'd rather not see us send more picks away. I'd like to see us work to build up capitol if we can for the next year or two. It's not easy to work with limited picks each year.- Andy Reid or Bill Belicheck
I feel like it's been a perfect storm for NE. It has a lot to do with Belicheck and Brady. They are the patriots. The overall teams' success is tied to those two. I know it's a team sport but over the years they have filtered in different pieces into that machine and it keeps running. NE I feel is the prime example of a system team. The majority of the names can change but the results are often the same. So I feel like as long as those two are there NE will always have a shot at the title. However, once those two are gone, (and I personally believe when one goes so will the other) The pats might come crashing to earth. You get a sense that that time is coming soon.- Massie signed to 4-yr Extension
I'm good with the signing it keeps continuity and if they extend whitehair then we can essentially keep the current line in place, build depth and look for talent to add to upgrade.- Why the defense will be better
I could see that happening and as much as I'd like to see Robbie back here we can't overspend to do so either in salary or draft picks should they tag him. I could see SF playing hard ball to keep him if we show interest. Consider we'll be eating Parkey's contract we have to be careful how much we spend at the Kicker position, but by the same token, we can't really afford to not spend what we need to upgrade there. We can't keep having that position cost us games.- The Rams?
Agree, and just looking at these playoffs. We get eliminated by a missed FG, the Saints game no call that cost the Saints, the overtime games, the costly offsides for the Chiefs that cost them, there a lot of close games this playoffs. It's easy to look at this post season and think if we'd have made that FG we have every reason to believe we could have made it to the Super Bowl. Coulda, shoulda, woulda, right? Even in the regular season how many one plays changed our season for good or bad. There were games we were one play away from winning, there were games where we won on a critical play.- Trubisky Pro Bowl QB
I agree, I'll take it for what it is. We often complain about the Bears not getting respect. After many losing seasons we went 12-4, were in contention for a first round bye, and we have a young roster that is built for continued success. This year isn't a fluke. What Pace has done turning this franchise around is exciting. Give Fox credit as well, he and Pace took over an absolute mess. While Fox didn't bring us wins or playoffs, he built a solid locker room, and a solid foundation to where Nagy could take over take us to the next step. I think those around the league (players/coaches) will recognize these things even if the media doesn't. What the media says doesn't matter, what the team believes, what us fans believe and the respect of their peers means more. It comes to reason that this year we are starting to get respect in the form of prow bowl representation, record wise we were the 3rd best team in our conference. Mich has plenty of room to grow but all in all he had a good season and has shown progress and promise that we finally may have that franchise QB that has eluded us for many long years. It's nice to see him get the recognition of his peers and represent the NFC in the pro bowl. I for one am going to enjoy the fact that we have a QB playing in the pro bowl. The bar for next year has been raised. - Team builders
