  1. I totally understand your position, it's a well thought out opinion but you always seem to dismiss that next year could be good with Flus. His first year as a new HC was a train wreck provided by Poles getting rid of his talent on defense and not giving him tools to make the offense to be better. For Poles to change a bad cap situation and obtain draft capital, that's how he needed to do it. So in year 2 we start out slow with lots of young players. Flus has to deal with a couple coaches with bad behavior, a cancer in Claypool and several injuries. He keep the team focused and started to see improvement. So now because of his patience with the team, and players getting healthy , we start to win. So two ways to judge him, cup half empty or half full? I saw him get better, you did not, totally understand that. Poles went from a washed out UDFA to the GM of a NFL franchise. Some one gave him a shot at being a scout and here we are. He was an underdog and won. He is going to support underdogs, Flus is that underdog. Poles thinks he can be good. You don't have to agree but that decision has already been made. Now with Fields, it's not just Fields vs Williams, you win that argument, but it's a boat load of draft capital plus Fields . Poles is going to bank on what he sees will allow him to win in 2024, does a rookie help do they? We will find out in April what his decision is. I don't see a loser no matter what decision he makes. It's not just going to be passing skills. Character, team leader, hard worker are all going to come into play when you use the top pick on a QB. He may decide that a Fields with upside , a better OC, more blue chip players around him puts him in a better position to win. Or Williams is the dude and takes him and the history of the Bears might be a new storyline. I'm okay if he does that because I trust his player evaluation. If he keeps Fields , I understand that decision too. I get you don't agree with any of that, you have a good argument but the other can still have good results. His job is on the line, just as if you were the GM, you're going to do what you think is best. That's the decision he will make and live with it.
  2. Powers-Johnson is the top rated center and will go mid to late second round. He would be a great get. Not sure we use a second round pick on him, probably a edge if not taken in the first round . I think 3 rd or 4 th round is more likely when we take a center.
  3. I don't need to make the case for Flus, the person running the Bears picked Flus. Poles thinks he's a good coach. It doesn't matter that you disagree. What is mind boggling is that you think it's not possible that he can't be a good coach. You keep telling people on this site that their opinion doesn't count but yours does. Flus is the Bears coach and this year will go along way for proof one way or another. If this is a Bears forum, anyone can have their opinion and they don't need your approval. They get to say whatever they want.
  4. It would interesting to see their scouting reports on them and why they took Scott.
  5. Glad you've backing up your statement ( coaches can get better, players can get better) with factual examples. No one knows what next year brings, but I think its a winning season whether it's Fields or a draftee and Flus will finally start getting noticed for being a good coach.( IMO)
  6. Listening to Greg Gabriel podcast and he mentioned Aaron Brewer/Titans and Evan Brown from Seattle as center prospects. Upgrades over Patrick that won't break the bank. Then draft a OC, most rookies need time to develop. Jason Kelce was a 5 th round pick that blossomed later. Plus Brown worked with Waldron.
  7. Who did we bring in that we were wrong on? Not sure who was last years acquisitions that failed.
  8. That would workout but won't happen while Flus is here.
  9. His base was 3-4 but they were in a 4-2 with the nickel back 60% of the time. Vic was a very good coach but his philosophy is quite different from Flus, it won't happen.
  10. First of all none of our opinions matter, only the regime in power that dictate that. We get to see how the Flus decision plays out on live TV, since he's not going anywhere. I think it turns out well but time will tell. Same with the QB decision, I trust Poles to do the right thing. If it's Williams, im all in , I'm not going to be Mr negative because he didn't keep Fields . I'll wait and see the results of that decision. I want my team to be successful, I don't have to be right about my opinion.
  11. Nobody pursuing the OC job is going to say, I'm only taking the job if so and so is the QB. They know they don't get to choose. The best thing they can sell is they are flexible with different QBs.
  12. Also by NO, but not sure of the other team.
  13. I have found in the sports journalism world unless you're talking to a person in the meeting, you're getting opinions from journalists looking for clicks. 2_nd hand knowledge is never accepted in a court of law but on social media as being fact. Unless you find several sources pertaining to a subject, it's always made up bullshit. I only believe info if I see it several times. So now unless I see at least two sources, I don't mention it. I'm positive they were ask about their opinions on both Fields and every draft able QB. No candidate is going to call Fields a terrible QB or even a draftee. They give them an opinion based on their interaction with each player. They may like one better than the other but the language will never put Flus in a position to defend him.
  14. Can you share the link? I'm follow him on X and missed that post.
  15. Every situation is different but there's times that teams get very good. It's not black and white.
  16. https://www.si.com/nfl/bears/news/free-agents-for-bears-to-sign-or-bring-back This is an interesting article on free agency.
  17. I'm thinking more stuff should be posted here instead spread around on other threads. A lot of people say Flus is a lame duck coach? If I remember, Poles got 5 years, Flus 4 years, did I get that wrong ? If people are saying it on the basis of him being bad, the team if trending to a winning season if Poles adds as much talent as he did in 2023. I think it can easily be stated we're going to have more wins than losses. Now if we draft a QB and we get a Byce Young performance, Poles job will start to be in jeopardy which takes down Flus also. That's why I'm thinking Poles stays according to his plan than flipping QBs. I also believe he adds a QB to develop as early as the second round to cover both scenarios.
  18. Yes, I think a few draft picks came from there and undrafted free agents.
  19. If Fields is judged as a flawed QB, why would NE do that when they can get one of the top 2 QBs in the draft? I like playing fantasy football but that's a little bit of a stretch. Plus with the success of Stroud, it ain't happening.
  20. That's a good list but by recent history , Poles is only signing one expensive FA and I think it's going to JJ. I think he can get a OC and FS at reasonable gets but most of that list will cost to much. Realistically a Lloyd Cushenberry , Cutris Samuel and Xavier McKinney.
  21. I see the next Bears center, let me know if this doesn't open, ill try to find it on YouTube. https://x.com/CFCBears/status/1749639036426203195?s=20
  22. It might end up a Jalen Carter and Wright scenario, both end well.
  23. Not sure I understand your statement. Poles was from KC and Flus was at Indy, are you talking about players? Chris Harris did interview but hasn't been hired yet.
  24. I think Poles knows what he's doing and advising Flus with the hires. So far things seem to be looking positive.
  25. I think the point he wast rying to make with lots of information about the draft yet to obtain that GMs aren't going to make personal decisions in January. A lot of people on X said he was talking about Parkins but I think he was talking about Bernstein. Parkins said he would like Waldron, Bernstein said he didn't want him. Greg had made comments about Bernstein before, I don't think he likes him. Not sure of his opinion on Parkins, he has been on their show before.
