We already used the second for Sweat, better than any second rounder you're getting to drafting. We have to remember that the Smith trade got us Pickens then he picked up TJ and Edmunds. The Carolina pick was DJ, Wright, Stevenson, this yrs one ,and a second in 2025. His ego will force him to try to top that. Perfect scenario, 10 teams need a QB, if not more.

Look at odds of last yr when Lovie handed us the #1, then the odds of getting it again. Could easily get us a top 5 next yr and another one in the mid teens plus ours. Its insane to think of that but it could happen. He would be crowned best GM ever.(maybe)
-
That's true but QBs get injured in the NFL, just look at this yr.
-
I can see us drafting a pass rusher like Bralan Trice, big, strong , never stop motor to pair with Sweat, great against the run and setting the edge and also some pass rush contributions. He is rated as a early second round.

Lets say we trade back to 3, someone might want to trade for MHJ, that would be another trade down with value as AZ54 stated. Lots of good WRs in this draft, not a problem finding one or just take Bowers and add one later. POLES HAS SEVERAL OPTIONS AND EVERYONE ONE OF THEM COULD BE A GOOD CHOICE, THERE IS NO LOSER CHOICES. There is a possiblity he could trade back 3 times with someone wanting Daniels or Penix, this yr could be crazy good for picking up multi blue chip players. Poles seems to have the nack for spetacular player acquisition.

You have used stats to argue both sides of the Fields issue and did both well. That this shows you stats can be misleading depending on the point you're trying to make. I try to look at it from Poles view. Justin has some talent but is not where he should be at this stage. That has some risk but you can win with him.(5-2) in the last 7 games soon to be 6-2. If you improve the roster with multi blue chip players, it only gets better. 80% of the fanbase loves Fields and wants him to stay. The majority of football people are on bring Justin back mode that I have listened to. You need to win in the next two yrs according to your original plans. He is relitively cheap for the next 2 yrs. Option B, find a Burrows type QB in the draft. Trade Fields for a 3rd round pick, maybe 2 and go forward with a rookie starting over. The risk that he turns out like Bryce Young for the first 2 yrs is more the norm than Burrows or a Mahomes. Stroud has look good for a rookie but which one is a Stroud. If you take a rookie and regress, huge hit against your job security. you not only have to sell to the fans but also to the team. Then to compound that, that draftee will be compared to Fields in every game, he could be better, then your job will be in jepordy by the end of the yr. This forum will trash you everyday. Option C, keep Fields and draft a prospect not in the first round, and try to develop him. Lets say Fields stays the same and doesnt get better, you will still have a winning record because you upgraded the roster .You can tell the fanbase you are developing a QB to take his place for 2 yrs while you are winning. Option C is clearly the safest bet for Poles to keep his job going forward. Hell he will get another high pick in nexts draft from a bad team and we could be talking top 5 pick again next yr with 2 first round picks and 2 2nd round picks in 2025, he could draft another QB if he needs to. If he adds MHJ or Bowers, maybe Nabers , Odunize plus another pass rusher. Any QB will look better with a top 5 defense and an improving offense. win win

Penix balled out, if he does that against Michigan, he will be up to the top 10 picks barring his injury history. Nix looked great to. McCarthy not so much. i wonder if JJ is someone that would drop enough to pick up in 2 or 3 round that would be a prospect you could develop. I watch 5 games of Williams this yr and now 3 of Penix, and I like him much better. This yr is crazy for QB prospects, if there is a Joe Borrows out there, Poles should find him. Poles was the head of the scounting dept when KC drafted Mahomes. I still think Fields is coming back, but drafting a prospect would be a sound decision with all the injuries that happen to QBs. Im sure they didnt know Mahomes would be that good until they saw him for a yr behind Smith. That same situation could happen here. Trade the first pick, MHJ r Bowers, get a pass rusher then with the second round pick in a trade, grab a McCarthy in the second and let the cards fall where they may a yr from now. Having several good QBs cant be a bad option in a QB hungry league. The Smith trade brought them a high level CB and 3rd round pick with the trade to Washington. If they moved on from Justin in 2025, could bring a similar trade. Having options never he hurt any team.

I like Corley a lot. i think he is a Deebo clone.Big YAC guy. I wonder if the crowd chant mpressed Poles at all? I thought it was pretty cool. Do you know anything about Michael Pratt? He was rated high in the preseason ranking and faded as the season went on. His numbers are good, but didnt seem to be on a pass first team or he got hurt alog the way.

Davis has a history of being nasty and better than average but I think his mom dying affected his preparation for the season and hasn't played up to his contract. Next year he can be back to normal and kick butt. -
I'll get my friend to take his team back. He broke his neck and was in the hospital for 3 weeks and I just paid for it and played it to make everything easier.
-
If you look at the beginning of the season, all low marks , his numbers gets pulled down but what does his numbers look like since his injury? A better tale of where he is now as he has shown growth. When someone is bad and gets better, overall marks doesn't show that. Example, our defense was bad, take a look at the numbers from the day Sweat got here. Clearly everyone thinks our Def is a lot better.

Fox showed a stat late in the game yesterday , dont remember exactly, but was 12/13 with a clean pocket and 2/ 9 while under preesure. Just like most QBs in the league, he looks better when not under pressure. A lot of Fields weaknesses go away with clean pockets, since pressure up the middle is a key, when we change the center poition and figure out the RG spot, he will continuely look better as a pocket passer. I think we show shift Jenkins back to RG and bring someone in to compete with Davis for the LG spot. No matter who plays QB we have to clean the IOL up and any QB will look better. As much as Patrick is not very good at point of attack, he sure is a great cheerleader on the field. He is all over the place when good things happen. On that short field goal Atl runback, him and Tonyan are the 2 players that got in the way of the returner when he fell down. He gets an A for effort . I think Poles may bring him back as the backup as he finds a new starter. He's quite the RaRa guy on the team. -
The season always turns out different than it looks like at the beginning. The NFL is a roller coaster.

I hate to say it but Love has gotten better thru the season.

This year we get a better package than last year, higher rated QBs and more teams in need.

Someome on the Score after show calls in complaining about Fields after he played well and won big. Can we waiy until tomorrow to get the dumb Fields tlak going again. There will be plenty of time after the season to get back on that bandwagon. -

AZ beat Philly, so the AZ isn't any good talk is mute. We are playing teams that have played well as of late. This season is a success whether we beat the Packers or not but that would be icing on the cake. -

Atlanta was fighting for the playoffs and had something to play for. If we add MHJ, or Bowers some OL and DL, this team is playoff bound next year. -
