This is a business side move, I would suspect our lawyer in toll (Warren) is involved in this move.

That's Brees and Fields 3 rd season stats.
-
Waldron and kubiak come from similar offenses, so a transition for Fields will be minimal if they decide to keep him. They're not going to have any problem finding a talented guy. There are only. 30 of those jobs available because of HCs calling plays. So far, adding Coen is # 3 , I think rules are you have to talk to five. Does anyone know another person that has an interview?

If they trade back, there's several blue chip WRs if we didnt end up with Harrison , Nabors is a route perfectionist with great separation. we have a pro bowl Guard? We don't have to worry about money for 2 more years. If we pay JJ, that will be the only expensive signing he makes this off-season. If he brings in some quality in free agency, it will be signings like Edwards, on team favorable contracts. KC paid Mahomes, Kelce, Chris Jones, Joe Thuney, Jauman Taylor, Justin Reed, Hell they paid Scantling 14 mil. They found a way .

The Chicago Bears are on the clock! OFFSEASON OPEN THREAD!

If you picking a team, SD weather, Herbert, several blue chip players? I think it's a no brainer to me, for a landing spot for Harbaugh. Been listening to Greg Gabriel and he was saying , the team is just getting their scouting information together. Lots more to evaluate, they have no idea who their QB will be until April. Poles clearly likes JF1, but has a long way to go to figure out the draftable QBs. No way he won't go thru the process to figure out what's best for the team. -

You're right, but which one? Poles has to win this year to keep his job, A rookie may effect that plan. He knows he can win next year with an upgraded roster and better play calling. I still think you keep Fields get a prospect with a trade down and develop him a year or two. -

Justin Herbert is a tier one QB, yet hasn't won anything, hasn't raised the level of his team that has several blue chip players. Lawrence was a #1 pick, he hasn't been terrible but has a long way to go to be special. He did win a playoff game last year though. It takes a good roster, good coaching and a lot of luck to win SBs in the NFL. Mahomes is the only true #1 that has been there multiple times. It's hard to find them QBs. -
Adam is always pushing stats up and literally makes good arguments on both sides of Justin. None of that matters, stats doesn't show how smart players are, how hard they work, how good of leaders they are, or how tough they are. Those are all traits that Poles looks for. Every bad QB that was drafted in the last 5 years all had good stats coming out of college. Good stats didn't work for them.

This is all bullshit, unless you see a reliable source all that stuff is made up.

We need to upgrade our worst position first center then whatever blue chip players are available at our picks. I think he gets a few done in Free agency and fills in with the draft. I think Davis will be fine next year, other than last year, he has a history of above average play. He will bring in competition of course because Jenkins has a injury history.

Ian literally had the Arizona GM job last year and turned it down. If not this year , he will next year. Both him and Poles came from excellent front offices. Ian absolutely contributed to everything Po!es has did so far. Maybe even agreed on bringing Flus back.

You do understand the departed OC had a different game plan with Bagent, quick throws, everything underneath. A lot of Justin's were down field that took more time to develop.

As a group think , we genuinely figure out what's best but the Flus and Justin questions are so divided, not sure we ever come to a consensus on those issues. Am I wrong, or did most of us want Flus or new? -

As much as I love Justin, if there's a Burrows type in this draft, Poles will take him. The evaluation is the key, if there's work ethic or character issues, he ain't taking any of them. The experts ( who have no accountability) says Williams is special. Justin will never be a tier one but that doesn't mean you can't win with him. Would everyone be okay with a Joe Burrow type first year? 2700-13-5. Poles knew Roquan Smith was an excellent LB but between the negotiations and his desired value, he declined to keep him and got a cheaper Edwards that was almost as good and a 2 nd round pick. Is he going to decide if draft capital and Justin is a better choice than Williams? We will find out. -
We all have expressed our desires what we want but what do you think Poles will do?

I don't know enough about the players to make an honest assumption who's good and who isn't. Poles will do an in-depth look, just see players that sound good for what little information I have. He's supposed to be the top 3T of which would make our defense an elite squad. I remember Poles loved Travis Bell last year, so he's trying to fix that position. He is the same size as Newton is . Dexter may be that guy, the most jump players make is yr2 when entering the NFL. Need more talent. -
All prospects will be under constant probing. Poles likes athletic types with strong intangibles. Not sure who fills that bill but if one does Poles will find him. Maye or Daniels? If one doesn't slap him in the face, Justin will be back.

All that sounds good, Poles is going to tag JJ at 17.4 mil and I don't think he pays another 17 mil contract. He seems to only do one a year. He should be able to get a FS and OC in free agency for around 10 mil a piece. There's 3 center upgrades, but not sure of talent at S this year. Dexter is getter better but need more talent at 3 T, draft or FA. We might be in position to draft Newton, which would be a good get. -
He made that trade before Stroud played the season well and wasn't considered to play that well. Easy to look back, not that easy looking forward.

I think they bring him back if they don't get a higher end FA or don't nab one early in the draft. His stats seem decent to me 49 Ts, 4.5 sacks, 10 TFL, 17 QB hits, 4 PDs. They definitely need to upgrade but if they fail, bring him back. -

Would love that if it actually worked out that way. One thing will be different, I think we don't get Wilkens and bring back Justin Jones. -
I re listened to the press conference and clearly Warren isn't running the show. He sounded like a politician. Poles is clearly running the show . He showed us his vision and it sounded to me like Fields is coming back. Poles likes allot Justin's intangibles leader, intelligent, hard worker, tough, strong character. He knows his passing ability is not up to par, but seen him get better. Fields first year was a shit show under Nagy. Year 2 he brings in Getsy to make him a pocket passer, when than wasn't working, roll outs, RPOs, play action , designed runs, he looked at lot better. Year 3 Getsy goes back to pocket passer and he slowly gets better. Realized that Justin needs a OC that adjusts to his strengths and fires Getsy. Now if Williams is Joe Burrows, he's going to take him. The problem will be passing the character test, that is in question. If not up to par , I think he brings in a OC that works with Justin, get a haul for trade back and keeps improving the team. I don't think he think Justin is a tier one QB, but if he can elevate to a top 15, QB, I think he thinks he can win with him. I also think he going to draft a QB prospect to develop because in 2 years Justin gets expensive. In two years if Justin doesn't prove he's worth 40 mil a year QB, he has a guy in place. If not this year, he will 2 first round picks next year, he will draft one high. I think next year he plans to be a winning team, 10-11 wins. If things go right a contender for a SB in 2026_ while Fields is at 22 mil a year. I think that's his plan. If he identifies a elite QB, he will take him and his long game changes.

In his press conference yesterday, Poles said that JJ isn't going anywhere when asked about Johnson. I was happy to here that.

Poles plan is to build the roster thru the draft that is impossible to do in 2 years. He traded away good players to correct the cap hell we were in which is amazingly done in one year, yet still criticized because we're not playoff bound. Most people picked 5-8 wins, and we made those expectations but is criticized because we didn't win more. He's not perfect but he added core players in those 2 years. DJ, Braxton Jones, Wright, R. Johnson, (2nd QB) Bagent, Sweat, D Walker, Billings, Edmunds, Sanborn, Edwards, Gordon, Brisker, Stevenson. The jury is still out with Tyler Scott, Dexter, Pickens, Hicks, Sewell, Jaylon Jones, Terrell Smith, Nate Davis. I would give him a B+ for the job he's done so far. He will be remembered for keeping Flus and the upcoming QB decision. Those items have yet to play out. Next year at this time is the time to criticize or praise him.
