The Chicago Bears are on the clock! OFFSEASON OPEN THREAD!
Stinger226 replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
It will this regime 4 years to get the roster where it needs to be. Next year challenge for a playoff game and 2 years for a SB run. -
Plumbing my whole life got me a broken body, 2 fake knees, 2 fake hips. 3 herniated discs and a broken neck. Yet I have a nice life. Working out everyday, yoga daily and activity.

Vrabel got fired on the second day of off-season, they didn't seem to think waiting was an advantage to doing it. Maybe Flus gets fired today but the longer it goes the more likely he's going to be here.
-
I'm not saying he won't be successful but he's not bringing a passing circus with him if he gets the job.
-
Let just say, IMO , I think he's staying, I'm not a soothsayer , I think signs say stay, God knows I wrong a lot.

That would be good for comparative talent. -
Flus spent 9 hours doing exit reviews with players yesterday, does that sound like a job you give someone who's being fired? I don't think he's leaving, hopefully Getsy is gone but you never know. Dave Wannsted thinks everyone is coming back especially after not getting fired yesterday. There's no advantage to waiting to fire coaches, it impedes getting the best talent.

Vangio was running a 3-4 and we were still attacked in the underneath. That's how teams attack good defenses. I don't think the mentality is transferred from different regime to regime. We need a strong 3 T to upset the Apple cart with the short passing game. Dexter may get but isn't yet. For everyone that wants Harbaugh as a coach, did you watch how he won last night? Strong defense, running the ball, play action passing. If anyone thinks he's coming with a KC passing attack is kidding themselves. Not saying he won't adjust, but beware what you ask for. Not saying he can't win.

I agree they need to address the OL but you don't reach for positions. There's. 10 to 15 impact players in this draft. We have several positions to fill, and you need two with our picks. If we only move back 1 or 2 spots we're not getting a Carolina type haul. We got that last year because we moved to 9. A few spots will get a 2 nd this year and maybe next year. Poles may talk someone into a # 1 next year but that's not a given. We may have to move out of the top 10 to get that haul. There's lots of talk about that and many are saying that so its not an original statement. I think he sticks with Braxton at LT but brings in a OT to compete and add depth. We will add a OC ,IMO, in free agency and draft one later in the draft. Another OG to compete and add depth. -
Stop using common sense, that's not liked in the sporting World.
-
If they did that , Poles probably wouldn't be able to take advantage of a trade option, Cunningham knows the true value.
-
So you hire a person that you know professionally, he ends up having some secret perversion and you have to fire him. That information never ends up on a resume. How is that Flus fault? It could be something as simple as hitting on a girl in the office and she turns you in for sexism at work. Nobody knows the reason, but at least you have standards and dont sweep in under the rug, and over look it.
-
You can only play the schedule they gave you. We are not a good team, it's going to be year 4 before we can talk like that. Rarely do you ever see 3-14 winning teams win a division's in a second year of a rebuild. There's a process to building a good team, we're not there yet. I get no one likes losing but experts predicted 7 wins and that's where we're at. Next year is the judgement year, no one ever expected year 2.

A great letter, you should write books or something for a living. The problem is this is not going to be Warren's call. Poles will discuss it with him but personnel is Poles job. Warren is a lawyer who did only financials for teams. Poles is actually teaching him the ropes where one day he will take over. He just doesn't have the experience yet but give him a few years you will hear from him a lot more. New owners buy teams and try to run everything and just screw things up. They just don't have experience in day to day operations. Warren and Poles are buddies and will learn together. Poles was running the personnel dept in KC and that's how he was hired, experience in roster development. Probably one day when Warren fires Poles is the day he takes control.

He's coming back, anyone firing their coach wants to get the best talent and waiting and letting other teams negotiate before you get the chance puts you last on everyone's list. Anyone they may want, you have to let know there's a job available. Coaches don't want to back stab other coaches in the back so you have to fire them. -

I'll have to check him out, these are the type of coaches that would be willing to take this type of job. -
Cunningham is taking GM interviews. If he leaves we get a third this year and next year according to current policies. Hate to see him go but life goes forward. That pick seems like a perfect spot to draft a OC.
-
No one is saying he's a tier one QB but you have to find one before you replace him. If you had a OC that designed an offense around him, he would look better. And yet, I don't think he will ever be a top 10 QB, but you can win games with him. If Poles thinks there's a special QB in the draft he will take him, but if he drafts Bryce Young, I think you may not like that either. He's drafting a QB whether Fields plays one more year or not. Let it play out and see what happens.
-
I dislike the soft zone also but to his credit his has mixed man to man more. Also not a a big blitzer, he has did that more than while in Indy. I thing he grows more once he gets another pass rusher.
-
You need to comment more, all your statements are spot on. We have never seen a complete rebuild before and this is what it looks like. It's not instant success, it's probably takes 4 years and lots of growing pains. I think Po!es is right on schedule with his rebuild plan. You, like me are just impatient because of all the losing over the years. Next year his has to start winning and year 4 it's a run to the SB. He never told anyone that was going to happen in yr 2.
-
Question , what GM has his head coach do exit interviews with his players and then fires him? He's coming back or he wouldn't be involved in team evaluations. Heard an interview of Flus, he knows he's coming back, way to confident.
-
Good coaches design an offense to fit the traits of a player, Getsy isn't A good coach. Big part of the problem.
-
Yes, they did that in KC while Poles was there.
-
You can find stats to try to show whatever point you're trying to make. The only thing that matters is everyone knows its not good enough. So which way does Poles go, no one knows that. A new QB is another restart, does Poles really want to do that? If he identifies a special QB, then he will perform well enough in the first year to win, if he brings in the wrong guy, we could still struggle. Everyone wants change but that brings risk. If he keeps Fields, upgrades the roster, get an OC that design's an offense to fit his strengths, he knows he can win with Fields for now. 2 more years at relative cheap QB money, and bring a prospect in to develop. That happened in KC while he was there. Many examples of good teams with not first round picks at QB, Purdy, Hurts, Prescott, Wilson was a third rounder. Build the team and he will find a QB somewhere.
