  1. Work ethic and desire are never bad traits the best ones always have that. I think he will excel but his size may be a stumbling block as far as staying healthy, but there is history that shows some last.
  2. Bears work out Tony Moeaki, other tight ends Posted by Josh Alper on June 9, 2016, 3:23 PM EDT ATLANTA, GA - JANUARY 03: Tony Moeaki #81 of the Atlanta Falcons runs after a catch during the first half against the New Orleans Saints at the Georgia Dome on January 3, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images) Getty Images The Bears traded Martellus Bennett to the Patriots this offseason, leaving them with Zach Miller at the top of the depth chart and a slew of players vying for backup roles on this year’s roster. They appear to be considering another addition to that latter group. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the team worked out several tight ends on Thursday. The most familiar name of the group is Tony Moeaki. Moeaki was a 2010 third-round pick of the Chiefs and opened his career with 47 catches for 556 yards. A knee injury knocked him out for all of 2011, however, and the Chiefs moved on from Moeaki after a 2013 shoulder injury. He spent time with the Bills and Seahawks before playing 11 games for the Falcons last season. Former Packer Ryan Taylor also tried out along with undrafted rookie Terenn Houk and others whose names have gone unreported at this point.
  3. I think the letting go of Slauson was a result of the OL coach wants lineman that can move in space. I think Matt was a good player and you should keep those types on the team but it is clear there is more to all of this. He doesn't fit the blocking scheme, there going younger and I think they are not looking at this year for being a playoff contender and more so from who will be playing next year and beyond. You can not fix all problems in one or two years and our roster was so bad, it just was not a quick fix. I am enthusiastic as to where our current regime are taking us, but it is just a 3 year plan and not one or two years to make over the roster.
  4. I think Ramierz probably thought he would get to start, and after being around Grassu, thinks maybe he dont want to be a backup. So he bailed. Larsen can play center if Grassu fails, and Whitehair could fill in if needed. Chandler can play guard, so I dont think there will be a depth problem. Leno Whitehair Grassu Long Massie Chandler Larsen Larsen Chandler (Becton or Kling) I think they like guys that can play several positions and that's what they have. Chandler may back up Massie and Kling the backup at LT. If they have a problem with depth there are still some older vets they could bring in that still play at a decent level. 5. It seems like for some reason the third round is trickier than the first few. As of Saturday there were 2/3 of the third round not signed yet. Must be something with the years. Signing bonuses are set in stone with money.
  6. Unless I misread this, his point was not to go out and get (people that were in SBs) but to get enough players willing to make the commitment that it takes to get to a SB. Every team will have a couple of stars on the team in the NFL but to get to a SB you have to have a collection of players that will contribute and do what work is necessary to get to it.. The team thing apply s to most any team in the NFL that made it to the SB. Last year the star was Von Miller on D in the SB but players like Jackson and Wolfe made contributions that helped them win the game. There not pro bowlers but just very good players. We added Trvathian who was in a SB but players like Hicks and Freeman are the ones that will help us be successful .
  7. There not signing someone to take Leno's place, this is clearly trying to find depth with a vet as a swing tackle. I think Leno has a lot to prove, but I think there are ready to let him play himself to be better or lose his job. I think its a moot point that he was a 7th rounder, he got on the field. When Bushrod was ready to come back from injury, he didnt get his job back. It is not that I think Bushrod was good at that point, but going with a seasoned vet would have been a logical choice. The point here is they think Leno is better than we do. We will see what happens.
  8. I was reading where, part of his workout problem was maybe a asthma problem that wears him down as the year goes on and stunts his workout progress.
  9. I read where Loggins is more likely to move Jay around. Roll outs, move the pocket, I think there are just looking for a backup at swing tackle with a vet that has time in the trenches. I dont think their are actually looking for a starter at LT. I think are set and what makes this OL better is better depth along the line. I think Massie and Long with prove to be a very reliable right side of the line, which is where our power running will come from. Roll outs to the right, moving the pocket. I think any deficiencies will be addressed by scheme.
  10. kicking the tires, and if the tires are flat, we can move on to the next option, one of these will stick evenually
  11. I would say either Becton or Kling has their attention. Maybe this is a good sign.
  12. I thought Tayo was a future starter at RT, but goes to show,Im not very smart.
  13. I suspect we may grab a vet LT if they dont think we have depth there with just Leno. There will keep increasing there options until the team gets good. Always looking to upgrade is a good way to fly. What I like about this regime is they dont care where a player comes from, if he can play, they will play him.

    OTA updates

They resigned Acho, I think that could mean he sticks around because of his STs play, and Jones could be odd man out. In them trying to sign Young to a long term deal, would tell me Houston is valved less.
  15. He keeps his habit of being anti Fox, he will find himself gone after this year. Fox wants team players here and he follows the same path as Marshall and Bennett with the meme attitude. Now if he has a stellar year, that will benefit him but headed down the wrong rode with staying away. If he has a good year, will deserve the money,if not he will be losing his ground on a great contract.

    OTA updates

I think if he has such a good talent level, he would already have been elevated to a better spot on the team, he is on his way out. He just didnt show enough to project him to the 53 man roster. Being moved to the outside only seals his fate, to many bodies there for him to make the team.
  17. It seems silly for this to take this long to sign a contract when the pricing is already determined, but I suspect the last year of the deal can delay the end when they may not agree on the option 5th year. Well now on to the pud Jeffery for the final piece of the puzzle to be finished. He is making almost 15 mil and that isnt good enough for a place to start, I just dont get it.
  18. Something I am surprised with, thought he was on the chopping block. You never know what the Bears are thinking, they are definitely capable of surprising you.
  19. Fangio was in on the pick, so he is smarter than I am, I am sure he will do well by him.
  20. Him and Floyd were considered the top two edge rushers, we made the right choice there.
  21. I think they down play it, but Im sure playing at 250 would be better than 235 as far as staying healthier for the whole season. I think this year he will be in passing downs as a situational pass rusher and not much else, although they say there in the nickel package 60 to 70% of the time.
  22. Odds are slim, but speed is paramount. If it comes down to keeping a 6th WR that is our PR and KR guy, he may get the nod over the other two.
  23. they signed him to a 3 year contract, so it may be more than interesting.
  24. Im curious what he tops out at 310? I dont remember exactly but I thought he was 300 at the combine and then played last year at 295? Anybody remember?
  25. It is hard to gauge from the first to the second year in a new regime, someone may have worked harder to get better than someone else and the least you can say about this coaching staff, they aint afraid to play anybody, no matter where you came from.
