  1. The value of a top 5 pick is generally QB, LT, edge rusher. Thomas and Allen fill the role of edge rusher, no QBs or LTs are of high value enough to be worthy of that #3 pick. If we draft a S that high , he would need to be special. I heard a interesting podcast with Greg Gabriel on it. He stated on good a player Adams is and a great leader, but said he did not have special traits. He stated that if the medicals turn out okay for Hooker that he is a special player and would be more valued at #3. He also stated that even if you overdraft a QB, none truly have the value of a top 10 status. The best teams also draft the BPA players no matter what the need, so if you one of these QBs could turn out to be a starter, then you have to assign a risk factor to them. So if you grab a developmental QB in 2 or 3 or take a 50/50% risk factor at #3, which puts you closer to a SB? I guess that is the question Pace must answer. Is it better to have an all pro DE or S? Or draft a QB that turns out like Cristian Ponder or Jake Looker, or on the upside a Bartels? If they view a QB with enough upside to take at 3, then you take them, if not draft the BPA, period. I have always thought of Thomas or Adams would be our best choices that high but have since changed my mind. I have been reading a lot about them and listened to many podcasts and both of them have to many questions on them to draft that high. The two answers that keep coming from most of these experts is Allen and Hooker are special players worthy of drafting at #3. So they have to answer the question of that their medicals will be okay, then you have to draft one of them. If not you take a safer bet like Adams. So the question remains is there any QB that they view will be at least a mid level type of QB upside? ( I do not believe that any of these QBs are of top 10 upside in this draft) So Tribisky has been compared to Romo and Cousins the most. They just have to view what player gives them the most value at #3, it has to be a special player, or average QB, that is the question they will answer in two weeks. My take on what happens: I think someone values the QB a great deal to take a risk and trades up with us to get one of the QBs. I believe that will be Cleveland, so we get their #12 - 33-65 and 145 At 12, I have a sneaky suspicion that Allen is the one that slips in this draft and we could still grab him at 12. At 33 we grab a Budda Baker/S and then at 65 grab a Zay Jones or Quincy Wilson this way we could get one stud and 3 potential starters out of one pick that has a high risk of failure
  2. I think they throwing darts and maybe suspect one of those two will rise up to the occasion. Obviously they would like both to excel but odds are that wont happen. I think in the 3rd or 4th if one WR is there they like a lot, they will be drafting him. No reason to not get younger guys in the loop and let it shake out.
  3. I agree , our choice will be one of them, but if there is a surprise pick, it may be Howard at #3 or in a move down.
  4. When you have a Elliot, or a Julio Jones, the best players become the best chest piece on any offense. With a team without a #1 WR he would be very impactful for the offense. Howard could becomes a viable choice if you are taking the BPA when you question other high pick choices.
  5. I also heard where Cleve likes him and may take him at one, so you think with SF having taken two DEs the last two years, they may let Garrett slip to us
  6. Okay here I go, Allen, Hooker, Lattimore has some potential injury issues going forward, so we should probably assume Pace does not want to have another White situation. Garrett and Thomas probably wont be there. Most people think no matter how good a player he is but drafting a S like Adams is foolish. so that leaves us with who is the next most impactful players in this draft? Were not going to draft Fournette, we have Howard. Williams or Davis would be considered not a value at that spot but do you think after taking White two years ago we're going to throw our top pick in that basket? The OTs are not rated as plums for that high in the draft. The QBs are not rated that high when it comes to value by most people. So do we draft Watson? if the regime does not think he is a franchise type, possible but not probable. So do we draft a 20th rated player at OT, Robinson , Bolles, I doubt it. O.J. Howard will be an all pro and would have the biggest impact on the team as a rookie.
  7. No way were taking a injured player after the White experience. i also dont think we will be drafting Hooker for the same reason, this has to be a sure thing, which leaves us Adams .
  8. I think he may be to much trouble, he is on the verge of getting heavy suspensions. If he had his shit together, NE would have been all over that.
  9. he might be a top 100 player but not 36, i think only if one of the top 3 OTs are there is the only time to consider it. I also think Robinson may fall over the other two OTs. He seems to get a bad rap and probably has the best traits out of all three. I would have no problem if we draft any of the top 3 OTs at 36.
  10. I read many things on Dawkins, and some project him as a OT , what most draftniks do is if a player doenst have all of the traits of a LT they just make them guards. He can probably be able to play any position.
  11. with all the pressing needs, they cant plan that far ahead
  12. Lets say we draft Adams, I think its gives so much flexibility to flip these two between SS and FS, it gives Fangio so much to scheme with.
  13. With the play of kwit, I totally dont seeing them drafting a ILB at all, unless a high graded one ends up being the BPA in a round.
  14. I totally seeing our draft going this way. I like all of them except for Hodges, they are a few I think will be better pros than him, Kittle and Leggett. If Robinson is there in 2 , I exactly seeing us upgrade at OT for at least one spot. I see us grabbing playmakers early like a TE and WR with the questions we have on Miller and White. I think we add a prospect on the front line and also give Bullard the chance to step forward in the second year.
  15. I think if we were a year closer to a playoff spot we would do something like this but to take a very good player that you would have to pay a big contract is one year to soon. Lets say he gets a contract averaging 10 mil a year which would probably have to be guaranteed for at least a couple years, we can draft a player for 5 year stability that could be close to his level of play, so do not see that happening.
  16. Ya their's sucks but very fond of yours.
  17. here is a nice article that compares what Fangio had and what we are about to have. http://www.windycitygridiron.com/2017/4/6/...oldman-nfl-2017
  18. Doubt in your mind but have read many places where he was stated to be their free safety because of his ball skills. I think he has played both in his career, but I guarantee you he will be playing deep not on the line. This is one arguement that will be cleared up once off season practices starts. He is the FS. Let me clarify, if we dont draft Hooker.
  19. I am talking about BPA, I do not ,as most experts view, any of these QBs as sure things, late first round or early 2nd round grades . they will be drafted higher than there grade because of need but that does not mean they are better players because they get reached for . I do not think any of them are on there board that early, obviously later down they will have them there.
  20. I think Demps is a FS with his number of interceptions later in his career. So Adams would fit in. I think Adams is so good he transends the position and can play either well. He would give the defense an identity and change the way other teams attack our defense. He is an imitator and would set a tone for our defense at being physical. I would have no problem with either him or Allen and think both would have a big impact on our defense. The one key difference is Adams is a natural born leader and who do we have that takes that spot since Urlacher retired. I think over all Adams has more impact than Allen.
  21. I think 3 is to high to take Howard, but am trying to asset what the Bears think. Barrett will probably play OLB at the next level but is considered a premier pass rusher, of which we will value.
  22. Depending on how the draft goes, some of the players on the roster will not be here when the dust settles.
  23. I like the value at #3 is to picking all pro pass rushers, perenial LTs or QBs. No LTs or QBs in this group merit that. Pass rushers would be 1A , Solomon Thomas and !B would be J. Allen. The problem is Allen has a slight health question. So if we do not have a shot at Thomas, then pick the BPA on the board who will end up being an all pro. That is screaming Jamal Adams.
  24. There throwing darts at the board and hope something sticks.
