  1. Taylor Boggs/OC was signed today, which means Whitehair is moving to a OT spot or, Grasu backup spot is in jeopardy . Also Jaye Howard a 5T that was cut my KC a few weeks ago, visited the Bears today. I would say if healthy, we have another new Bear.
  2. You apparently have selective reading, by many experts he was rated the best QB in the draft. And of these so called experts for and against him, are not scouts or do they work for any NFL teams. The truth is taking a QB high is a boom or bust situation, Pace thinks he is the real deal, and that is all that matters. I am sure he values your opinion but your email must have arrived to him to late to change. Cohen will be everybodies favorite draftee this year. He will get some carries, and he will be split out as a slot WR, as per Pace in a interview on the score an hour ago. He is similair in size as Sporales but actually faster and quicker more like Thyeek Hill is with KC. Cohen 5' 6" 180 lbs., Sproles-5'6" 190, on the other hand your Benny Cunningham comparison has never been made by anyone but you. He is 5'10" 217 and never will be again. Cohen 4.42 Sproles 4.46 Cunningham 4.59. They are totally different animals, so read up first before making comments. As far as Mike Glennon saying he feels cheated on, I have read several articles about that and no where does anybody quote him on that. It is always sources close to him saying that. I am sure he is disappointed but he is an adult making 18.5 in guaranteed money. I think he may survive this and not anticipate suicide. As far as the draft goes, the key is Tribusky a franchise QB (come back in 3 years) that is when we will find out not 2 days after the draft. Shaheen was rated anywhere from 45 to 75 best player in the draft by a lot of your so called experts. Several rated him as the second best TE in the draft. He physically compares to Zonk but that is a reach, I will predict a Jason Witten type career. Copy this and bring it up to me if Im wrong, it will give you something to do . Jackson would have been the 2nd or third rated FS in the had he not broke a bone in his leg. The acl tear was in 2014 and in 2015 he had 45 ts, 6 ints.,2 PBUs, 2 FF; and would have been a first round had he left school early. He will end up starting sometime this year and be one of our playmakers. Cohen- Is an electric player that will see 10 -12 plays a game. Morgan is a eventual starter at OG. I suspect when picking someone later in the draft finding someone to make the team would be considered good. If you check him out, some boards had him late 3rd or early 4th. Sitton will be 31 this year so I suspect in one or maybe two, he will be starting at LG and play at a high level. As far as your comment on drafting 3 players from small schools. Let me just throw you out some names from small schools. Peanut Tillmam, Sid Luckman, Walter Payton,Richard Dent, Chris Villarrial, Marty Booker, Wally Chambers.
  3. We havent been for 20 years, so I have no problem with questioning moves. My point is, right now we have a new regime and we have to keep relevant to what he does. Pace's first year was mainly derailed by Whites injury. Grasu was injured and hasnt produced. Goldman was a good pick, but didnt make it 16 games. Langford may not be a star, but I think he can contribute. Amps would have to be considered a good pick although he may be only average by where he was picked. He had a good draft last year, I do not think anybody believes that not a true statement. He has hit on some FAs and missed on some but at least he is not throwing big money out there and blowing it. I think Pace is a good evaluatior of talent and trust his picks this year until it proves different. I did not like any of his picks except for Jackson, but the more i look at the draft the more i understand his plan. I do agree with you that this site has had some better ideas than some of the previous GMs as far as choices, but they forgot to ask our advice. The truth is their job is hard, and even the best get it wrong. Look at NE, they wanted Shea and I still dont think he is a NFL football player. Here is what I see, Matt Stafford, Jason Witten, Tryeek Hill when I look at some of these choices he made, until it proves differently. Jackson and Morgan are going to be starters one day. So as much as i didnt like this draft, it could turn out quite good, we just dont know now.

Remember Long missed many games and was not up to par when he did play. Larsen and Kush seen playing time as Sitton missed some games also. So I am missing the 5 players gelling at the end of the year.
  5. Sitting here today, I am a true Bears fan and have to be optimistic. Why bad mouth everything we do? So we can say we were right? I prefer to think Pace can evaluate talent this will end up being a good draft.
  6. Stinger226 replied to Stinger226's topic in Bearstalk
You may be right, but he leapfrogged from LT in college to OC in pros. First of all, he can do it, Long was injured most of the year, Sitton had some time off. Dont forget Grasu was the center before the dominoes fell. It was thrown together quickly and worked out. Its not like a 3 year OL that has played together and gelled. It is absolutely the best time to try it.
  7. Pace is taking a lot of heat for all of this, but I do not see the ship sinking. I think we are closer than everybody thinks. We were derailed last year because of injury. I think if we won 6 games, people would be taking a different opinion about the teams future. We have players developing that will be better. Even though the FA class didnt have a splash, I think it was an upgrade. The key to this season is Glennon being a legitimate QB. He will be. QB Glennon-Tribusky-Sanchez-Shaw If Glennon gets hurt, I dont believe they will play Mitch in his place. Our season will be derailed if Glennon is hurt and I think letting Mitch develop will be important. RB Howard-Langford-Cunningham-Cohen This is a position of strength and I see Cohen having more of a Tyeek Hill affect more than a Sporles clone. WR The key to this positon is White, I think he finally shines this year. Wright,Wheaton, Merideth, Braverman, Randle. This group will be fine. TE Miller will play less and stay healthy, Shaheen will play but more a red zone target that we badly need. Sims will surprise by helping in the run game and being a good WR. I think Brown will make some plays. OL With Long and Grasu being healthy, this is one of our stengths. Massie improved at the end of the year and Leno is acceptable. I still think Whitehair could move to LT a position he played in college. DL Hicks and a healthy Goldman will be huge. You add Bullard being better in his second year and you have something going on. Jenkins, Unrien and a player to be named later, will be pleasant backups. OLB McPhee will play less and be more effective and healthy. Floyd will be much better after putting on some weight and stength. Young still have some game and I see Robinson-Harris making some contribution. ILB When Trevathan is back, Freeman, and Kwita, we have one of the teams stengths. CB We have 11 CBs on the roster, and I think it will sort out with some players shining. Cooper, Prince A, Bausby, Banks, Callahan, LeBlanc. Ss We have lots of bodies here to, I think it sorts itself out Demps,Jackson, Amos, Bush, D. Hall, we find some players in this group. I think we will be much better this year, 8-10 wins. Not as far as a reach as everybody is saying.
  8. From this point a lot of the draft , this doesnt make sense, but it is about evaluating talent and if Pace got that right this could turn out to be his best draft. You would think we got players that could start right away but the draft is a crapshoot anyways, so let him do what he thinks is best and in a few years he gets praised or gets fired. The guy has balls, and I like that about him.
  9. Stinger226 replied to Stinger226's topic in Bearstalk
If this is our best 5 OL , I dont see a problem with it. Whitehair is only in his second year and had no problem with a new position last year. He originally played LT, and the only real drawback is shorter than liked arms. His arm length is similar to T. Decker from Det, so it is doable. I think he is going to be the best OL guy we have, so why not change now instead of implanting him at a position with adequate support.
  10. I can see where everybody looks at this draft and bad mouths, it. I did too, but the more I look the more I understand his plan. first of all, everybody says SF pants us, no one has that knowledge, but I think it will come out someday. If we are taking calls from teams to move up for a QB, does anybody thinks its logical to think SF didnt take calls. From my point of view, I would have wanted a stud D guy and then draft a prospect in the second. The second is worth more that the 3 and 4 we gave up. We got those most of the value of those picks back and drafted the best prospect in the draft, but more importantly it is who Pace wanted. As far as signing Glennon, we went out and got the best QB available in this years off season and I think they think we are going to start winning. The idea situation is to sit Trubisky for 2 years and then let him play at a higher level. Throwing rookies not ready into the fire right away usually wrecks them. He is doing it the right way. I give him kudos for doing this way. Also if Glennon plays well then we will get value back from his success and also put us in play to be successful for the next two years. Another thing to consider is we are closer than we look last year, the injuries derailed us from winning 6 games, maybe a few more. We have players in place that will ascend that no one is looking at right now. Bullard Bush D. Hall White Grasu Floyd- another step forward Robinson-Harris Leno will be one year better. Whitehair and Howard are already accepted and they are ascending. We added Cooper, Demps,Cunningham, Wright, Wheaton, Jenkins, Prince A.,Banks, Sims, and Mike Glennon. All of these signings will make us better. Our team is already much better than last year. Tribusky is being developed , Shaheen will contribute but not start, Jackson will start if not right away in the early part of the season. Cohen will be a situational contribute in the same design as Tryeek Hill. Morgan will be Sittons future replacement. The most important piece is drafting our future franchise QB but every draft pick could turn our to be gold. Tribusky-- franchise QB has been compared to Matt Stanford Shaheen- is almost exactly a clone of Gronk, but to not be dumb, will turn out to be a Jason Witten type. When Mitch is our QB, Shaheen will be his go to guy. Jackson- Barring the two injuries, one in 2014 that he played well after and the other a broken leg early this year. With all the studs on Ala defense, he was the captain. If he doesnt start from day one, if will be early the first year. Cohen-- He will be an immediate contributor, everybody says Sproles clone but he is Tryeek Hill. If we stay fairly healthy, McPhee,Trevathan, Long, Goldman, and White, we are A BETTER TEAM. I will say 8-8, but could be better. Think about it, Howard makes us a power running team with a two TE set, a joy stick in the backfield or split out and a couple downtown threats in Wheaton and White. This offense could be dynamic, plus another step forward on D and we are a much better team.
  11. we will not have a bad record next year, we will not have a need to draft another QB.
  12. I totally think we still have some players to get rid of and players to add. Royal-Houston , possibly Miller , will be gone. I think we could add Jaye Howard , 5T that KC dropped, been in Vegas, so maybe I didnt notice if he got picked up.
  13. Stinger226 replied to Stinger226's topic in Bearstalk
IF Grasu is good, and they view Whitehair as a better LT, why not? NFL teams do that all the time in the players first few years.
  14. Stinger226 posted a topic in Bearstalk
Leno has gotten better each year but is still not even average. the only difference from Leno and Whitehair is the 2" difference in arm length, otherwise they are the same size player. I looked at last years OT class and the best OT were a little taller and they all had longer arms. The one closest to the size of Whitehair was T. Decker, his arm length is 1" longer than Whitehair. So here is what I think will happen, they will stick the best 5 OL on the field at the same time. The question that needs to be answered is how good is Grasu, if he is healthy and has become a good player, I think they move Whitehair out to LT. Whitehair played the position in college. He has shown to adapter to any position in the OL. Basically the only difference between him and other qualities LTs is his arm length. So I think if Grasu excels we move Cody outside, also the drafting of Morgan shows more depth to the inside positions. I predict our new LT this year is Cody Whitehair.
  15. Over the years we have had plenty to complain about, Pace has balls, he has completely remade the roster, unfortunately that is not a quick fix. This year is the time to start seeing what the last two years transactions have produced. I think last year should have shown improvement but the injuries derailed us and we start thinking our leaders suck. I seen a stat where we lead the league in starters missed by injuries. So I am optimistic but always cautious, but i really believe this year everything comes together. Why? We have a very good OL. One of the top 5 RBs in the league. They have thrown a lot of resources at QB and will see the fruits of that effort. I suspect White will finally stay healthy and prove his lofty draft status this year. The defense is starting to take shape, Hicks, Goldman, Freeman, McPhee, Floyd, Travathan. He invested in the back of the D this year, Cooper, Demps, Jackson, LeBlanc,, Prince , Banks ,give it some time to gel. Young guys taking a step forward; Bullard-D. Hall-Bush--Robinson-Harris. Shaheen and Cohen will contribute right away.
  16. Look at the thought I put into the original post and then look at your thought process and you will understand why I find you amusing. Keep it up.
  17. He might have been, but I just looked at 2015, and he may have resigned him, didnt go back any farther.

  19. Drown in your sorrow, much better to be optimistic before it plays itself out. Shaw will be cut, so you can feel bad about that.

Here is who I would like to see us sign. Lorenzo Jerome/FS we coached him at the Senior Bowl and is a smallish playmaker Avery Genesey/OT has a lot of upside K. D. Cannon, speed speed speed Jarron Jones/5T a big guy on a team that needs some depth

When I look at this draft, here is what I see: Tribuski- our franchise QB Shaheen- our Jason Witten Jackson- our FS playmaker Cohen-- Tryeek Hill Morgan-- Sittons eventual replacement. I know Im a optimist but this will be considered a great draft 3 years from now.
