Arm Length, offensive/defensive lineman, and Poles.
Stinger226 replied to killakrzydav's topic in Bearstalk
Remember we didn't pick up Ngakoue until training camp started and he was thought to be one of the better edge players in free agency. Not sure who but , Poles will bring in someone. I expect a draftee. -
OTs and edge players are very common first round picks. Can't go by experts mock drafts. Former agents and football people know better. I find it interesting that they have met with 11 CBs. You think they switch Stevenson to FS and bring in another CB? I think they are leaning on BPA available and will cover several positions.

The best you can say about Dexter is you watched him get better. His biggest problem was playing to upright. Needs to break that habit. Dexter and rotating Walker inside that covers that position. I would say draft two DEs and build a rotation. -
I have a The Athletic subscription, I'll see if it lets m post it on here. He's my favorite draft guide guy. He isnt perfect on his analysis but gets it right most the time.

I like that video. I think Poles plays chess. Doesn't seem to be making the right moves, but we understand later in the game. Smart guy. -

Is that the order you would draft? If Odunze is there, I think we have to take him, only because Allen might be one and done. Otherwise I would have to go by your list. I like the trade back scenario getting a _2 nd round pick meaning we would have to at least drop to 20 to do that. Then it would be BPA between WR and DE. In the second get Zach Frazier. Then it's a free fall. I think if we have 5 picks we can fill 4 needs OC, WR contributer, DE contributor. , either OL depth or 3 T depth. -
I get the questions, but rookies have questions to when drafted. Free agents aren't always winnable moves. He has to just keep rolling the dice and hope it's not craps. The top 3 OCs are coming in for visits. JPJ will probably be first round but Barton and Frazier are legit 2 ND round picks. He has to have a plan on trading down to get the chance to draft them. So if we get Williams, WR, DE and a center prospect , I'll be happy with this draft.

I think if he accepts the coaching and gets above average play from teammates, no reason to think he can't have the best year as a rookie ever. I think that was Lucks first year. 54.1%-4374 yards-23-18. Yards only CJ Stroud 63%-4108-23-5 Somewhere between there would be great.

If I was him, and was a Redskins fan growing up that would be my choice. I think Poles, Flus, team leaders are selling the Bears to him. As far as I know he's not taking any other visits which means he's buying into the culture here. His ego tells him he wants to be the first pick so that means he has to come here. If there's any negative input into the process Poles will notice it and pick someone else but seems to be heading to be a Bear.

I'm A Williams fan, I'm just sure everything is so black and white. I think a big gray area exists when it comes to coaching, talent around him, proper schemes. out of 4 high QB picks, history says 2 will fail, one may excel and one becomes serviceable. Williams excels Maye bust Daniels bust McCarthy successful. That's my opinion, to be fair busts as far as a high pick, not necessarily out of the league bust. -

Not everyone has the same opinion of Daniels. Scouts get paid to watch hundreds of hours of prospects to make judgment calls on prospects. A few hours of watching a prospect is not really enough time to truly judge a prospects game. So why do different scouts have different opinions on any prospect? Good WRs help any QB look better but also a good QB makes WRs look good to. -

This is interesting. Out of the ten highest paid WRs only one was a first round pick. https://x.com/TheJoeMarino/status/1777655487586095569 -
Other than Williams, I think they all need a year to grow before they should start. I would love to get a haul and draft a QB but I truly think Williams is special. Up in the air on the intangibles but if Poles is good with him , I'm all in. Poles could completely surprise us, no one has guessed what he's been doing in his last two drafts but some times the simplest answer is the answer.

He would be top 10 if not for the 3 WRs listed ahead of him on the rankings. Also Adonis Mitchell is getting high praise. Josh Lucas said he will end up being the second best WR in this draft. -
I for sure think he has questions with people he added at OC and whether Braxton takes another step but he added Allen and will draft a WR. You can't have first round picks at every position when you are only in year 3 of a rebuild. With Nate Davis playing bad last year was fully related to his mom dying who was living with him. He had to move cities and then mom died, he wasn't ready to play. I fully expect him to have an above average season. I think Bates is the sleeper acquisition that Poles has given us at OC that still has questions but he trusts him to do well. We will see. I expect him to add a drafted player at that position. ( not sure how he will do that). Wright and Braxton takes steps forward that becomes our strengths of the line. Jenkins needs to stay healthy but he has more depth added. I think one of our 4 picks will be a young OT. They seem very interested in Kiran Amedgadjie from Yale and I see Poles targeting him in the third round.

As much as I think they're 3 good DEs, im not sure I consider them guaranteed to be among the elites. For me the distinction is Anderson-Parsons to Josh Allen- Brian Burns, it took several years to become elite.
-
Now who is the blue chip players in the draft? Obviously that is subjective but, here is my list. ( not in any order) not with potential but almost guaranteed. Caleb Williams/QB Bowers/TE MHJ/WR Nabers/WR Odunze/WR Alt /OT Fashanu/OT T Arnold/CB Fuaga/OL JPJ/OC That's my list.

That's a good start. And ascending is realistic.

Top 10 picks every year should be ( classified) at top blue chip players. In 2019, 2020, and 2021 only 12_ players lived up to those expectations. Now some turned out to be good players but not the status of a top 10 pick and some were complete busts. If we can get 2 of those blue chip players, I will be very happy. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2019/draft.htm -
There's risk to everything you do . I guess it's about the highest ceiling for the lowest risky pick. If you look at 30 visits list: 1/3 is clearly about the nine pick. 1/3 of visits are for third and fourth round type picks. They're 1/3 that clearly only can be gotten with the second round pick. Does that tell us anything?
-
He drafted a OT at 10 last year plus added D J Moore plus Tyler Scott in the draft. Signed Nate Davis at OG. What does the third year in a row thing mean?

I agree with everyone on here but I'm at the point now where I'm in rehab over what is about to take place. Before we were fighting over Justin vs everyone, I had something to focus on , now it's just reality of Caleb and (WR) or (DE). Would you? Trade pick 75 and 2025 2 nd round pick next year to pick 5 and grab MHJ. -
As you list Edmunds, Edwards plays like a blue chip player. Every year he is top 10 in the league in Tackles. This year he was 7 th just 3 behind all pro Roquan Smith.
-
I think they are all expected to be blue chip but some aren't there yet. This year will answer many questions. If Byard plays close to his all pro years, he definitely belongs on that list. Maybe he thinks Billings is above a red ? If Braxton keeps improving, maybe? With some short term contracts, every year could have a different number. Now there's established core players and some that will grow into that spot.
