There is no denying his talent, but what always bothered me was him wanting to be treated special. Wanting to change the rookie pay structure because he wants more money. The me me me attitude can cause problems. When will he blow up because Waldron didn't call enough pass plays in a game? I still have questions.

The Chicago Bears are on the clock! OFFSEASON OPEN THREAD!
Stinger226 replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
Do they do any visits to hide who they really might want to draft? He's a blue chip player, just checking out all options or deflecting ? -
I didn't write the story, I just posted it's content. I don't even know if that's true, I expect a ESPN story to probably be accurate.
-
His body language is very obvious
-
Yes he did skip the combine. The story related only to people that attended the combine.
-
I think he did or it would have been made a larger story. One story I read said Williams was the only player since the Combine started that didn't do his physical. It was an ESPN writer.
-
I think there both going to be very good. I have no problem with any of the top 4 WRs. Lots of other talented WRs in the draft also.
-
Definitely something to thing about, getting more production from existing players because you have a better QB.

Allen is a professional and wants to buy into the culture of the team, so he's out supporting the probable QB of his new team. Poles and Flus got him to buy in and he's doing it
-
Some people are uncomfortable in public, no big deal. I go by how I see his players interact with him. When it was announced that JJ was all pro , he called him in the conference room to go over film. He had a video made announcing he was chosen all pro. It surprised JJ and a bunch of people came in to congratulation him. That's the kind of respect they have for each other. Poles kept Flus because his players believe in him. Nagy is gone because his players gave up on him, that's not happening with Flus.

They don't base success for a player because of a few good traits, it's a composition study of so many things it takes to be a high level QB in the NFL. If it was that simple, there would be a lot more quality QBs, As of now it's hard pressed to find 20 true quality QBS in the league right now. I was looking at The 33rd Team rankings and they had Field's ranked 21st , so I used 20 as the dividing line for true starting QBs right now .

If one of the top 3 fall, he's taking the BPA, if there gone , I think he's not taking a top 20 WR at 9. Maybe a move back gets closer to Thomas true value . He has a better chance of getting a WR room contributor at 75 than an edge in their first year.

It's hard to fit certain traits on coaches to determine how successful they will be. There's tons of examples that show so many personality types can win. Flus shows he's a player coach by the way his team supports him. Ultimately that's the most important trait in my eyes. He's awkward in public settings but that's no big deal. Coaches learn how to be HCs as much as p!ayers learn how to be play at the NFL level. This year Poles and Flus have to win, we will see how much they have progressed at their jobs. Nagy had a great 2018 and still failed to be a good HC, Flus keeping this team together while losing all those games, speaks volumes to how good of a coach he can be. We're in good hands.

I actually took a college course on body language which doesn't make me an expert but does give insight in some ways. I was traveling so I haven't seen any press conferences, I'll check it out.

We don't know how deep his board goes. 10? 15? He will make sure he gets a blue chipper or he won't trade down. No one has successfully figured out what Poles has did in the past. Does he take the best edge that pushes defense top 5? Or concentrate on offense this year?
-
I never checked that, just thought that because he has been around the USC team many times before as reported.
-
Will they take BPA at 9? That will either be Alt or Dallas Turner. Allen isn't signing a lesser contract to be a Bear when he wouldn't restructure a contract for a place he wanted to be. At his age teams aren't giving him top dollar at the WR position. The only thing that comes into play is much he wants to play with Caleb , the brain is hard to figure out. Poles taking him as a one and done makes sense if they take a WR with is second pick. He helps Caleb as a rookie plus train his replacement. Because of the rookie deal at QB he could tag him for one year if we have SB aspirations. The WR room is deep to where they may target one at 75.

Chile is right, former USC player, he's just hanging with alumni.

I think they completely take in consideration everything but harder to measure the mental aspect of the game. You can't measure heart, love of the game, how you react to success and failure. How much does ego affect your actions?
-
Didn't Kramer have a similar shoe on Seinfeld?
-
As much as I would love more draft picks and no problem with another QB , we simply have to take Caleb and hope no surprises pop up.
-
I have a subscription to the Tribune, Athletic for Bears stories.

Sarcasm is a form of humor.

With only 4 draft picks, and knowing how Poles likes to move around the draft board it will be interesting. For sure we get 2 quality picks and maybe an contributor at 75. The key to the draft will be how much is someone willing to give up for Caleb and does he view another prospect as close in value? It might just be straight forward and take Caleb and try to improve the roster after the draft. The key will be , does pick 9 create a value we don't see right now? How to guess at that.

The Bears was the biggest off season story and people run out things to say, so you just get pounded with opinions. A lot of journalists just say things to get clicks. Social media just gives us a minute to minute blow instead of the daily or weekly news stories we were use to.
