  1. What I know about football and player evaluation could fit not on the head of a pin but the sharp end. BPA, if it's what they want I would think at seven I would be happy in this order. Williams DL, Cooper WR, Fowler LB, Schreff OL, Sheldon DT. I have no problem with any of those picks. I am really thinking about Schreff. I keep reading about Long at sometime moving to Tackle. Why wait? Draft Schreff move long to R or L tackle. Move Bushrod or keep him at LT. Groom one of the backups for center next year and I thing we would have a great OL with most of them under 27. Would be set for a five year run at least. And be ready for what ever happens at QB before it changes, making that transition much easier. I want a can't miss pick (yea I know) that will come in on day one and start and would be a cornerstone for the next ten years. Any of the other draft picks seem to have something that at seven just does not make me happy. And if by some cruel twist of faith none of these are available try to trade down. The rest of the draft is way above my head.
  2. Just one of the thing that I love about Long. His responce to Forte getting a chance to set the single season record for catches by a running back is another. “I was gonna butt in there when he was talking about how it’s not important to him,” Long joked. “We’re in the National Football League, and I’m sitting next to a guy who has an opportunity to catch the single most passes in NFL history for a running back in a season. I know I’m gonna be yelling at our quarterback to throw him the ball. Are you kidding me? What a tremendous honor to get to play with a guy like Matt and have an opportunity to be a part of something like that that will stand for a really long time.”
  3. "Forte only had five runs, but we probably called 15 for him," left tackle Jermon Bushrod said. "When we got up there to run these plays, it wasn’t a correct look or we had too many people in the box or they dropped a safety or they did this. It’s a lot that goes into these plays that we run. If it doesn’t look good to the quarterback, we’ve got to go out to the edge." So why did they not call the run on the other plays instead of just passing the pall. That did no work very well so why did he not call a running play. They would not of gotten 150 or even 100 but they would of gained a lot more then they did. And some of those runs sould of been by Carey, I thought he was doing ok running to the outside. Oh and I just heard on the HC talking about the good job Cutler did standing in there. Thats a great game plan.
  4. On the move: Moving Cutler via designed rollouts was a key factor in last Sunday’s win over the Vikings and something that the quarterback hopes will remain in the game plan. “It was great,” Cutler said. “We’ve got to keep doing it. We’ve got to keep doing it in different ways, showing different looks; get off the spot as much as we possibly can because it helps with everything. It helps the pass rush, get some easy balls out to the flat, out on the outside lets the guys run. It’s got to be something in our offense that we do more of.” For as long as Cutler has been in the league his mobility has always been something those in the "know" have touted as one of his great strengths. We're now into year what , year six, and halfway into the second year with the current coaching staff with Cutler as our starting QB and it sounds like they found something new to play with?? I have always thought that most of us on message boards etc. really don't understand all the BS and stuff that goes on in Pro sports at any level. But really, it takes a so called QB wisperer and a whole fn coaching staff almost two years to think about letting your mobile QB roll out for a play or two a game?? I know there must be a ton of things that get put into play when your QB rolls out. But GD, Tim Tebow was allowed to roll out and try and make a few plays every game, if not every play. But then almost everyone here has said the same thing at one point or another over the past years.
  5. I'm not really, but is it me or is this team missing someone who gets pissed off after a loss or playing like crap. A Mike Brown, Singletary, Hampton, or even just someone who seems a little mad. Who is the player on this team who gets in other players faces when they screw up. I go back to my Cutler laughing it up with Rogers last week. It just doesn't seem like there is much passion. Would love to see one after game interview that makes the sports cast. Like Denny Green, or Ditka before he went over the edge. I don't see all the interviews in Chicago so maybe someone does get angry. But this teams seems even more laid back and Im OK your OK, then our job is on the line and we better play like it or go back to the CFL. Guess I just said who I think needs a kick in the ass. To me he looks more like a good Off. cord. then a head coach.

    Old fool

I am all for sportsmanship, hugs and kisses for everyone before or after. Good with that. Heck you can even help the guy up after you both knock each other down. Someone is hurt and you talk to them or the other team, yea. Tell the guy he made a great play etc., etc. But during a time out or stopage during the game. I'm pretty sure the Bears off. had the ball at the time. You go to the other side of the field or even meet in the middle and yuck it up with the other team. This was just really different. If anything your getting your ass kicked you should be talking to your own teammates. Just don't remember seeing that in the past when some of the players I view as my Football hero's played. And yea i'm an older fart so I know things change, still just sticks in my craw a little. But I will watch the game again next week.

    Old fool

Guess I'm just an old fool who after watching the Bears Packer game. During a stopage in play, I believe it was the 4'th quarter. Cutler and Rogers were yucking it up on the sidelines. A first I thought it was a split sceen pregame thing, but no! I don't understand how things have changed since the days of Halas, Lombardie, Forest Greg and Ditka. I know many Bears have gone onto play for the Packer, and vice versa. But never during a game, have I seen players yuck it up like I did during this game while getting your ass kicked, as I did today!!! Maybe it's just time to move onto something else. Really sad old fart! Bill
  8. The first game of the season of course it's some of the same. Two turn overs and a lot of bend but don't break D. Things don't always change that much from one season to the next, even with all new coaches. But one thing that did change. Not one sack against one of the best front 7's. Yea, not one sack. And with 80 percent of the O. line changed from last year. And two GD rookies on the right side. That is not the same old same old by anyones stretch! Not just because of the Oline. But the fact that they did not get one sack, first game of the season, five out of six O.L. changed, with two rookies as starters. That alone should be enough to raise hell!

  10. Thanks, I just found it listed on 705. I guess I'm getting senile. They had no pregame listed so I must of just skipped that channel. But I even did a search under Chicago Bears and the only title they gave me was Vikings Bears. Anyway,s thanks again. Bill
  11. So I'm looking for the Bears game today on DTV. I live on the west coast and I can't find it listed anywhere. The Raider game is on at 10 so that is the live game on Network TV. But I can't find it listed on the NFL package. What am I missing and does it show up on anyone who has DTV and lives outside of the Chicago market? I know they have a free preview this week. Bill
  12. I tend to agree. How could they of fined him if he had gone in with his head up. Hell they are making a whole ad camp. about it. Heads up football.
  13. I thought on a whole they did OK. And as good as our 1st team played, I just don't see Cutler as an elite QB in the mold of any of the top five. Yea, he has all the physical tools but he just does not seem to have IT. Take away B.M. and who does he throw to? And why does he not look for anyone else? The TD to B.M., on the only replay they showed. Cutler never looked for anyone else. Yea it worked and most likely would 7 out of 10 times but at least look for another open player. Am I wrong? Maybe they should do what they did, in I think a Rocky movie, and tie his right hand to his back. Make him work without Marshall and see if he even knows who the other receivers are! In other words take Marshall off the field for the next game. Someone should knock him out everytime he tries to throw to Marshall when he is covered like his 2nd int. Just stupid, it really is. This is preseason and a time to learn "how to practice" not make stupid mistakes that you will carry on into the reg. season. No excuse for that now! Again, to be honest I don't think he has IT. And will not get us to the SB. And in todays NFL, unlike Rex's time, just chucking it with a great D it won't do it anymore.
  14. Not really new Jason, just a stalker for the last 5 years more than anything. Just a fan for way to long and hope to see a SB win before I die or get anymore senile. So yea, lets get Russell and Tebow. sign them for the min. put then in the back field with Forte in a wishbone. Tebow on the left, Russell on the right with Forte in the middle right behind Jay. Two wideouts and five down off. linemen. Widecat hell, lets run a crazy cat. Shotgun, pistol. How but the gatling gun off. Hell this is suppose to be the age of an off. rebirth, not only the Bears but the NFL. Lets put some of this new off. genius we have and think out of the box or maybe even think inside a circle.
  15. Oh, did I forget to say that we are the worst franchise of all time when it comes to the QB position. I know we can list great running backs. At what count would we stop? Maybe six, to a dozen on the outside? Under six when it comes to HOF's Lets go to linebackers. Also under six when it comes to HOF's. A great history for any team in the NFL. Now lets count the QB's. How about since the Cubs have won a series. As in World Series. Can anyone alive remember just one? Sid? Can I get two?? Anyone??? And now we're bringing in J. Russsel? Just for a tryout! Is this some type of disease? "A pathological condition of a part, organ, or system of an organism resulting from various causes." And then causeing death. You have got to be kidding me! As the worst franchise in history at the QB postion we would even think of bringing in the biggest bust of all time makes me sick!!!
  16. The man has already proved he's the greatest bust of all time. Now he's going for the greatest comeback bust of all time? I'm sorry. Lets get the biggest bust because he's lost 50 lbs. Yea, he can also throw the ball thru the uprights while on his knees at the 50 yard line. One of the greatest tests of future hall of fame QB's and a sure lock for starters in the NFL!! No Fn way please.
  17. Bottom line for me. There is a reason why players don't show up for any type of comp. Before, during, or after, the reg. season. Don't care what they or anyone else calls it. They can't compete for one reason or another. Now do you keep him in some compacity, IR, etc. etc. Beyond my paygrade and left to those who are paid to build teams not only for today but also tomorrow figure that out.
  18. "She is from Costa Rica" If not a family member who is she? May one ask? That is world class!
  19. Oh and on a sexist comment, I think stingers photo is beyond question, world class!!
  20. "I think we should distrust these guys until they prove success." While I can agree with this statement I also think that if you don't win a SB in 3 -5 years you should be gone. But I am also willing to believe they know better then those of us who are not in their shoes. American pro sports and football more so that any other sport are such a team sport. It truly is at least a four to five+ to even more headed beast. From the players, to the coaches, stadiums, salaries, etc., etc., And for anyone who's lively hood is not directly effected by their choices to claim they know better or could do better is just a joke. And as someone who has said and done so I laugh at myself first. The so called experts on all of the mock draft sites etc. really don't depend on being right. Why hasn't Mel Kiper ever had a real football job. How about Mayock? Who does he work for now and why is he not in some front office job? Don't tell me thay would not love to be the GM of a real team and be working to win a real Super Bowl. Why don't teams who need them just hire them if they are so smart. How many years did M. Lombardi work for anyone other then another NFL team before he was hired by the Browns? How many years will it be before he is back at the NFL channel? Just kidding, I do like him. Why do those who have the real jobs in any sports team have that job?!?! Because they do know more then we do. When you or I know more then they do we will be the ones who have those jobs. It really is that simple. That is after all how Kiper and Mayock got what jobs they have. "Oh yea baby!! John Gruden baby!!" In a Randy Macho accent. John Gruden knows he has a perfect job right now. He won his, er Tony Dungy's Super Bowl, and will continue to live off that and his Chuckie persona for the rest of his life and just pontificate like so many do. Yes there are a few exceptions, some of us do know better. But those who do, usally do. The rest just say they would. Now to this years draft. I think the Bears did the best they could. They picked for needs using the best players available at the time, all things considered. Did every other team? No! Have the Bears done so in the past? Hell no! As a layman I thought the Bears first needed Off. linemen and more then one. Throw in a few LB's. Mix in a DB, a WR, and maybe a special teams player or two and we might have a good draft. I think they did most of that. Now can the players they drafted live up to expectation? Only time and their jobs and those who picked them will tell. IMHO!!
  21. "Ditka was great as a personality but not a very good coach IMO. He should have won two more Super Bowls but his ego got in the way." I could not agree more. Not sure if the feeling of winning in 85 makes me happier then the dissapointment of not getting back to the SB for the next five years pisses me off. Oh, and his insistance with the Bambi experiment. I'm getting later in life so I only want to give the next head coach 5 years you win the SB or your out. Then next.
  22. I'm sad to see Lovie go in many contexts. He has a good D mind. I loved the way this team played D most of the time. Without his defense we would not of even been 500 most of the time. His lack of changing with the league and the move to such an OFF. driven game was his downfall. He seems to be an honerable fair coach. But he just did not get the job done that needed to be done. I'm tired of seeing all these other teams with multipule SB rings, I'm tired of having only 85. I'm tired of listening to Niner fans, Giant fans, Raider fans, New England fans. GD we set their franchise back 20 years when we played them and look at them now! And most of all I'm tired of GD Packer fans talking about title town Brett Farve, Arron Rodgers and all the other BS!! And this week I need them to win a game to get us into the playoffs. UNFin acceptable! This is the game and league that was build by the man who started this team and if it takes firing head coaches every three to four years till we start evening the score then that's what I want them to do. I'm tired of listening to sports talk saying how can the Bears fire a coach that went 10 and 6. Because he had nine years to win a SB and he did not. The next coach better do it in four years or we find another and another!! NEXT!!!!
  23. If this rule was in effect during the last quarter of the Seattle game the Seahawks would still be scoring.
  24. I could care less who has any source on anything relating to any play that has to do with this game on Monday!!! I expect J. Cambell to play a good game. Better in some areas then Cutler has, as in less ints., less turnovers as a whole off. I don't expect the off. to score less. They have not scored much the past sweeks anyway. Considering the niners defense and home crowd, I expect a good all around game. But one thats played good on both sides of the ball. I don't want any excuses from the bears off 21-17 Bears
  25. Even if Cutler is out I don't want to see a much different O then if Jay were in there. They went out and got a starter quality back-up so they would not drop off that much like they have in the past. He is more then able to run the vanilla O that they have been running so far. In fact I hope he runs it better and lites a fire under Jay. In other words I don't just want to see him keep the seat warm!
