  1. Yet another Emery pick bites the dust.
  2. The true challenge is going to be how we capitalize and develop these picks. I sure as hell hope we can start hitting on more picks then we miss.
  3. http://www.chatsports.com/chicago-bears/a/...att-forte-22695 Link to the story. Evidently it was earlier in the year and Fox (not Pace) wasn't interested. You have to wonder, if given the 0-3 start, that answer is different now?
  4. I agree with you. We have so few building blocks that I can't possibly move Alshon. Now if a team offers us a 1st or like a 2nd and a 4th, then I think about it, but right now, worse case we franchise him and work on a longer term deal. We don't have many game changing young players so you should keep the ones you do have.
  5. I think you can get a 3rd / 4th or maybe multiple later round picks. Forte is a pretty special player and I think if you have two contenders desperate for RB, you could get a bidding war. I really don't see any scenario where it makes sense to keep Forte (unless the Bears have some secret plan to magically rebuild in a year). Forte is near the end of his prime. That said, I think Forte's skills should keep him serviceable past 30 (he doesn't take a lot of big hits and his ability to catch passes should help him extend his effectiveness vs. a typical back). He's looked really good this year as well. I actually think my ideal scenario (if we are going full rebuild) is moving Cutler to the Texans and Forte to the Cowboys. I'd think we could add some picks. Maybe make the Cutler deal conditional so that if he plays well and they make playoffs, we get a 2nd and a future 3rd or something like that and if he doesn't, we get like a 3rd and a 5th. I don't know...just thinking aloud.
  6. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago-bears/post...-alshon-jeffery If a contender loses a QB, I think it would make sense. I still think the Texans should trade for Cutler. He is light-years better then anything they have.
  7. Interesting: #Bears HC John Fox says Allen's departure will give OLB Willie Young chance to get on field. Young was healthy scratch at Seattle Sunday.
  8. I love Forte, but again, I'd move him for a 3rd round pick. I'd hope one of the Colts / Cowboys got desperate and we got lucky with a 2nd rounder. Highly doubt it, but hey, never know.
  9. I mispoke, we have 9 picks in this upcoming draft now (the Lee pick is a 2017 picK).
  10. Actually, at 28, I could see why the Bears opt to move Mary now. Realistically he'll be 30 by time Bears have shot at being relevant, so you might as well capitalize on potential pick for upside (if you can get something good). But boy do I love me some Marty B (however, we certainly aren't taking advantage of him this year).
  11. Next question is who replaces these guys on the roster. I know a few guys who were once high picks were recently released (still young...just busts on existing team). I wonder if Bears take a flyer on some of those guys. Would think we'd be targeting wideouts and guys in the secondary first and foremost.
  12. Yeah, that draft was awful. Wilson will probably get cut. He stinks. Washington is might stick another year (if he can get healthy). Was coming into his own as a core special teams guy (who has some upside).
  13. I'd love a 2nd, but am delusional, a 3rd is interesting (depending on what he's communicated to the Bears...if he intends to leave for a contender and force a holdout, then you might as well just move him for the 3rd now). I agree with you though, anything less than that is an absolute no. And even a 3rd, I am not a fan. He's just worth more then that. We are now back up to 8 picks in the draft (I think). Acquired 2 today and had given up 1 when we got Khari Lee. I wonder if we acquire any players? Specifically are their any young wideouts that might be of interest to us who could develop. Wilson is clearly on the outs and none of our other young guys are anything to get excited about .
  14. I agree with you. Now if someone wants to give up a 2nd round pick for him, then I'd think otherwise, but I'm not moving him for a 4th round pick. If we draft a QB, you want a TE like him around as a safety valve. I am a big Marty fan. Plus, isn't Marty signed for next season as well? I presume he'll hold out in the off-season and ask for a new contract, so maybe he's already made a big stink, but he's a guy I keep if I can (and money shouldn't be a major issue with him).
  15. Texans evidently interested. @JaysonBraddock: There's been speculation that Martellus Bennett could be had. Local kid & skillset fits perfectly for what Texans need & only 1 healthy TE.
  16. Good riddance. He was terrible and injury prone. I can't imagine we get anything significant for him. Wonder if it is just a conditional pick?
  17. I think Allen handled his time with the Bears with class. I think the world of Allen and he was a heck of a player. I wish it worked better in Chicago and hope he can help the Panthers. I am glad the Bears were able to get him to a contender (evidently he gave the Bears a list of 4 teams and we were able to get things to work out in his favor).
  18. Offensively I can't imagine many guys, unless we were going to move Forte & Bushrod and that is more because we don't see them as long-term building blocks (given combination of age and health issues). Defensively Ratliff and Young would presumably have some interest, not sure who else? Am I missing someone? I suppose another team could think Bostic has value but I have no idea why? Either way, outside of Forte, we aren't talking about anything other then 6th / 7th at best (if not conditional 6th / 7th round picks).
  19. Dianna Marie Russini ‏@diannaESPN 15m15 minutes ago I'm told Jared Allen is 1st of a few trades Bears will make, they're looking to unload players that don't fit their scheme from prior regime
  20. This is a good Raiders team. If Jay plays, we have a chance, without him, we will lose.
  21. I look forward to Houston getting more reps. He excelled playing this position with the Raiders and is still young. This is a good move. Creates more opportunities for Houston and gets us back a pick while letting Allen go play for a contender late in his career.
  22. Appears we get a comp pick. Not sure what round. Either way, i'll take it. Allen wasn't part of the long-term plan.
  23. No word yet on return. https://twitter.com/JayGlazer/status/648595050163630080
  24. You lost me when you had Stafford and indicated he is a model QB. Stafford is no different then Jay, in fact, I'd argue he's worse. Stafford had all kinds of talent around him and still couldn't win / be a playoff guy. Rivers is better, but he has his own consistency issues too. Eli has had some awful seasons.
