Good riddance. He was terrible and injury prone. I can't imagine we get anything significant for him. Wonder if it is just a conditional pick?

I think Allen handled his time with the Bears with class. I think the world of Allen and he was a heck of a player. I wish it worked better in Chicago and hope he can help the Panthers. I am glad the Bears were able to get him to a contender (evidently he gave the Bears a list of 4 teams and we were able to get things to work out in his favor).

Offensively I can't imagine many guys, unless we were going to move Forte & Bushrod and that is more because we don't see them as long-term building blocks (given combination of age and health issues). Defensively Ratliff and Young would presumably have some interest, not sure who else? Am I missing someone? I suppose another team could think Bostic has value but I have no idea why? Either way, outside of Forte, we aren't talking about anything other then 6th / 7th at best (if not conditional 6th / 7th round picks).

Dianna Marie Russini @diannaESPN 15m15 minutes ago I'm told Jared Allen is 1st of a few trades Bears will make, they're looking to unload players that don't fit their scheme from prior regime

This is a good Raiders team. If Jay plays, we have a chance, without him, we will lose.
-
I look forward to Houston getting more reps. He excelled playing this position with the Raiders and is still young. This is a good move. Creates more opportunities for Houston and gets us back a pick while letting Allen go play for a contender late in his career.

Appears we get a comp pick. Not sure what round. Either way, i'll take it. Allen wasn't part of the long-term plan.

No word yet on return. https://twitter.com/JayGlazer/status/648595050163630080

You lost me when you had Stafford and indicated he is a model QB. Stafford is no different then Jay, in fact, I'd argue he's worse. Stafford had all kinds of talent around him and still couldn't win / be a playoff guy. Rivers is better, but he has his own consistency issues too. Eli has had some awful seasons.
-
I just don't see who else you give the money to. Ultimately, having Marty B, Alshon, and White around for the foreseeable future is a good thing. IF Jay is here, it gives him weapons, and if we draft a QB, those are all good options. They are all still relatively young as well (Marty might be the oldest but he's still pretty fresh and a very very good athlete for the position). It means we don't have to waste picks on those areas either, which is nice. It isn't like we have to choose between 15 talented players in-house that all are deserving of contracts so Bears might as well use up some signing bonus this year and next on any core guys (and front load the deals so you are in good spot when talent brought in by Pace / Fox is ready.
-
Depends on the price. At a minimum, you tag him. That said, I am perfectly fine paying him longer term (and maybe we can benefit because of some of these injuries)? Him and White should make it easier for whomever the QB is (along with Marty .

We still crushed them. Jay played great in a huge game.
-
I agree Marshall would have played. Marshall had his issues, but he was a warrior on gameday. I think this has more to do with Bears probably goin, okay, we are going to get blasted by Seattle on the road with our backup. Why would we push Alshon early (especially with a hammy injury, which can get re aggravated very easily). Take the loss and refocus on week 4. From their try to build your way back to contention. Ideally we could have Jay back for the Raiders and then have a shot.
-
You do remember the playoff game before that. You know, the one where Jay kicked royal butt?
-
At the top spot, their is no debate...take the great QB. If the QB isn't their, move down a few spots and let someone else gush over the guy in love and accumulate some picks.
-
We got beat by two really good teams. Defense stinks, but who expected it to be good? Only reason we got crushed was because our backup QB played.
-
If we have the #1 pick, I either want to take a QB or trade down. No other position, to me, given our needs, is worthy of the #1 pick. I'd rather move down a few spots and let a team that has fallen in love with someone grab them and let us accumulate additional picks. I fundamentally don't like the idea of making a top 3 pick on anything but QB. I also don't think you force it, if a QB isn't their, don't take them, but also don't be afraid to move down a few spots (to 5 - 6 range).
-
I don't understand how our odds are that close to 3 teams who have a win already. Not to mention the Raiders are pretty solid.

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 4m4 minutes ago Bears QB Jay Cutler will miss at least 2 weeks with hamstring injury, per sources. Jimmy Clausen now starts. The Bears declined comment.
-
I want Connor Cook.
-
The bulk of the penalty yards were on our defense, not the offense. Claussen was awful. The offense was awful without Jay.
-
By the way, I echo these sentiments as well.

I think all of you are delusional but I hope you are right. I legitimately think we don't get blown out of a bunch of games like last year, but I don't think we have the ammo to win those close games yet. But a few bounces go our way, I think we win 8 games...they go against us and I think you are talking 4 or 5...most likely 6-7 wins. Teams you don't include that are pretty good on our schedule are: - Arizona - KC - St. Louis (I buy into them) - Denver - San Diego I don't think we beat any of them, but I could be wrong. Then you have the Lions / Vikings, don't see us sweeping either of them, could see us losing to both, but peg maybe 2 wins their. We should beat the Bucs, so that is a 3rd. Oakland (may not have their QB) / Washington are games where on neutral fields I'd expect us to be favored slightly at this point (but not by a lot and in the Raiders case, purely cause their QB is out). I'd expect Niners at this point would be slight favorite of us but not a lot. Bottom line, when I slice and dice it, I just don't see it, but I hope I'm wrong. What I want to see though is progress and young players developing into starters. -
His forty time was sub 4.5. He has been a probowl returner and looked good returning for the Bears late last season. Ever think that maybe he was going a little slower because he was waiting for some blocking to develop ahead of him? This isn't some scrub special teams guy. When he's been healthy (which has been the big if in his career), he has been a playmaking returner in the NFL. He has 3 return TD's in 39 games played.

I completely agree. I still think this will be a long season, but I am confident we have the right people to get the ship pointed in the right direction. Coaches need talent and we are devoid of defensive talent. Offensively, we do have some talent, so I am curious what Gase will be able to showcase. That said, the offense clearly has its own limitations (oline) and injury risks (most specifically wideout).
