Nick Chubb?
If they don’t think highly of Swift they wouldn’t have done what they did this offseason and in the draft. Unless we are about to see a trade.

Nick Chubb?
They have made it clear - they want depth and people to battle. Backs in general get hurt and you want to balance workloads in camp. They will carry 4 but they should have 6 at start of camp and I don’t really count our special teams back. So really we have 3 real running backs on roster and that is counting a 7th round pick (one I like but a high percentage of 7th rounders are out of football asap)

Nick Chubb?
Chubb. Don’t love any of them but I think Chubb has the work ethic and being a year removed might still have some juice. Another name is Jamal Williams - had 17TDs with BJ in Detroit. Didn’t do much in New Orleans past two years though.

Draft...
It might be they like this guy as a RT prospect and have doubts on Jones and think Wright can play LT so this becomes the combo. I don’t love it but I like our new oline coach so I’ll trust what he figures out.

Draft...
They drafted an OT in second round. They had no LT prospects available at 10. We literally have no idea whether they would have taken Banks if he was there - my guess is they would have, but either way - when you take a guy in 2nd round I’m presuming it means they liked the prospect they are getting and also see them pushing the incumbents. You don’t take people in 2nd round if you don’t think they have a shot at making an impact this year or the following year.

Is Poles becoming Pace?
That is the point - they didn’t just draft for need which is good. While they may all bust - I feel like they actually drafted good football players with potential and quality measurables. In some cases grabbed a guy who fell vs where he would have been projected 6 months sooner but for reasons they think don’t make sense (Wr due to bad qb play and our DT due to a stress fracture he played through)

RD7. Pick233. Kyle Monangai
Bad oline play / good pad level. Let’s see what he can do with what is hopefully a better oline.

Updated 53-man roster (post draft)
There is going to be a lot more competition in camp and this draft reinforced that.

Best Available Day 3
I could see bears signing a vet free agent given how draft played out.
-
Best Available Day 3
I like what bears did - I didn’t think they got cute - I think they got a lot of quality football players or decent talents with strong measurable who hopefully can be coached up. Competition for the oline is significantly improved between draft and free agency and same when I look at offensive skill position players.

Is Poles becoming Pace?
The BC guy is a potential starting right tackle - which gives bears a ton of flexibility if they decide they like Wright at LT - he also could be a depth guy at LT and at his size could swing into guard. The BC guy can play - I don’t know if his upside is there but he is a solid addition and the line is a ton better.

Is Poles becoming Pace?
I think you are really overreacting when you think in rounds 4-7 there is a major consensus. They added 4 guys in first 2 rounds - leveraging a trade back and got 3 guys who over past 12 months had first round grades at a point in time. Stewart was playing with an injury all season - if it really impacted him they are getting a pretty high upside dline candidate and the wideout was clear bpa and his only knock is small hands. His draft was very much impacted by lousy qb play at Missouri.

Bears select Luke Newman, OL at #195
Protectable center or guard option - real good draft pick this late.
-
Best Available Day 3
Curious where they see him playing Lt on line. Like what they have done. Focus on measurable in late rounds.
-
Is Poles becoming Pace?
I don’t get the comparison at all. If you are going to argue late round picks it’s fruitless and ultimately they just got to draft guys they think have measurable or will overcome lack of measurable when it comes to late rounds. Overall I think they focused on best available talent and guys they could project throughout the draft and they acquired more picks and focused getting a maximum number within range where the depth of this draft lied.

Best Available Day 3
Seen a lot of spots that had him as a pretty good value pick at this point of draft. We have good db coach - let’s see what they can get out of those tools.
-
Bears select Zah Frazier, CB at #169.
He has measurables - like legit tools. Big and fast.
-
Best Available Day 3
Pick up a future 4th for moving from 5th to 6th. Not bad.
-
Best Available Day 3
Another trade - given this was more of a depth draft in general - I don’t mind this. Would love to pick up a future pick out of this too
-
Best Available Day 3
Swinson, Neal or one of the best available guard prospects all look like good options. I think OSU center was out there too - could be a good depth move.
-
Bears select Ruben Hyppolite II, LB at #132
I presume this is a Jack Sanborn type of replacement with good athleticism who can also be a special teams guy?
-
Draft...
On point one - it’s hard to say. I think Banks might have been an option but he wasn’t there so that made it a moot point. They clearly had a higher grade on their 2nd round pick than any OT still on board…the wideout they got was a bpa type of pick who also feels a lot like Amon St Brown.
-
Bears select Shemar Turner, DT at #62
I’m willing to see what Pickens does being healthy as I know he put in a lot of work last offseason before getting hurt. Plus new coaching staff. Either way I like what they have done with both lines - would like to see some of our previous years class take steps forward and hopefully some hits right now.
-
Bears select Shemar Turner, DT at #62
Was really high on him - very happy with this pick! Quite frankly getting pretty happy with draft given how first 9 picks played out.

Best Available Day 2
Seems reasonable given depth of this draft. I’m guessing they really wanted one of those osu running backs. Im out on 2nd round OT - looking at history bust rate is high. Go with one of the backs, dlinemen, safety or one of those good guard prospects. No one will look back and say did you get good value - they will look back and say did you get good players.
