  1. That call to kick when it was already a two score game on 4th and 1 absolutely blew my mind. I mean what was the point of 9 vs 12. Nothing. But get the 1 yard and game is over. And than going into soft shell late was cowardly too. Double cowardly cost them the game. This game gave me a bit of - get #1 - trade it again (including for a future 1st) and add more weapons for Fields and keep making team better. Do take a qb though (whether later in first or in 2nd with whomever drops). Let fields roll and have the back up be the other guy and have future first next year in case you need to go qb.
  2. Fields played well today. In fact whole team looked good in general. Coaching staff did not. This is 3 out of 4 above average games from Fields. Now let’s get some wins Justin!
  3. Pix awesome news and stinger hope you keep progressing well in your recovery!
  4. That is the thing. The bears don’t have to mortgage the future to take a qb high (*fingers crossed panthers end up with top 2 pick*). They also would be pairing that qb with Moore and Kmet plus a quality running game and what looks like at least a few good oline men (Wright / Jenkins / Davis). Jones I will leave jury out on. Add into fact defense has some pieces and is young plus 100M in cap space and what will be likely another top 10 pick and this team has assets. I do go back to if I take a qb with one of the picks, I am probably trading back with the other one plus getting something for Fields (let’s say a 2nd). Bring in a legit coach like Harbaugh or if you like Day go pay for him or get Ben Johnson and that is not a total shit situation like you would normally see a #1 overall pick go into.
  5. This and the only thing that would undo that is if Fields goes off in next 7 weeks. Fields and Flus are connected for me. I don’t see any scenario where Bears keep flus and draft a qb or pass on a qb and fire Flus.
  6. Jared Goff has thrown for 4600+ yards twice in his career and is on track to do it a 3rd time this year. He also has thrown 28 or more touchdowns 3 times in his career and is roughly on track to do it a 4th time this year. Justin Fields through for just over 2000 yards in his 2nd season...Goff through for 3800 and 28 TD's in that year. I get it - team blah blah blah. Jared Goff is a really good QB, clearly top 10. Whether Rams moved on or not - they did, but Goff had been a huge part of getting to the Superbowl and getting deep into playoffs during his Rams career. If Jared Goff was on the Bears his whole career to this point - he would be #1 in every meaningful statistic out there. For anyone saying Fields is on the same level as Goff - its absolutely laughable. And don't tell me about system and talent and blah blah blah. The Texans QB is doing just great with a patch work oline and barely any offensive weapons. We as Bear fans like to make excuses for QB's - but you know what, no excuses, put up or shut up time for Fields this year. Either he does or doesn't - coaching, scheme, oline, blah blah blah. Do those things matter, yes, but a really good QB will overcome it enough and show you those skills. Fields has flashed it - I'll give him that, but currently he isn't on the same hemisphere as Jared Goff from a performance perspective.
  7. And if we are one of those desperate teams - we don't have to trade and give up a bunch of assets to get there. We can draft him and still have another good pick which we could either trade down or use to fill other voids (plus cap space, etc).
  8. With that said Strength of Schedule moves, so just because that is true now, doesn't mean it holds up by season(s) end.
  9. Kyler is good. I think I would be interested in a trade for Kyler if they could somehow structure clean from a cap perspective. Bears get number 1 trade it for both cardinals picks plus Kyler and a future first. Than you have future assets a solid qb and tons of picks.
  10. Yeah that was bad. Defense played great. Now let’s get Fields back and go make the playoffs…and I’m serious. They are going streaking!!!!
  11. Alright bears - make a play here and let’s start to get some momentum!
  12. As of today - both look good. I will say, I think Young will be good too.
  13. If we don’t take a qb in top 5 (if we have a pick there), than I could only see if being a scenario where team moves down and recoups, and gets a JJ or Penix or Bo Nix and letting Justin compete with them or whatever plus getting more future draft capital.
  14. For the record - if Bryce Young is able to stay healthy, I think he will be a top 10 QB, if not better. Outside of his durability issues due to size, he would have been a bonafide one in every 5 year #1 overall pick. Fields looks like more of a guy who will be around 15-20. Maybe a year or two where he gets hot and ranks just outside of top 10. I do think he is a starter in this league, but I wouldn’t pay him big. But he could kind of become Tannehill (like when he emerged in Tennessee after leaving Miami).
  15. I think the problem was this was a pretty significant injury, one at which, they had debated surgery and opted for rest. I think that means we are talking about a grade 2 vs. grade 3 tear - but with it, recovery is slow and I presume risk of reinjury is long. The day after it happened - there were real concerns/rumblings that he MIGHT miss the entire season (surgery would have taken him out for the year) and that normal recovery for this type of injury (if he didn't opt for surgery - because it was more of a grade 2 tear) was 4-8 weeks. So realistically - I think he's healing pretty consistent / on track - the question really comes down to - at what point is the grip / strength strong enough to play through and what limitations exist. Personally, I expect the Bears will play Bagent one more week and we'll see Justin back next week against the Lions. Give him another 10 days vs. force him a week early. If the Bears were in contention - I think Fields would probably play today (but given they aren't - why risk anything that would prevent Bears from having a better assessment). Worse case to me is - Fields rushs it, gets hurt/reinjures it or is limited, and Bears really get NO evaluation on Fields other than what we saw early in the season. In one way - Poles decision is easy, as no way Fields showed enough to bank on him next year, so than you are looking at QB or at a minimum making it a QB competition next year.
  16. Do we know if Davis is back this week? If so than at least we have Jenkins and Davis - I guess we see who is playing center (both are bad options) and than Jones and Wright at tackle. Fingers crossed we can at least have consistency with those 4 for the rest of the season.
  17. Whitehair is clearly done with the Bears at the end of the season. He was a good player for a long time, but unfortunately father time has caught up to him. On the other hand - Patrick has been awful every moment he's been with this franchise. Yesterday - on a shotgun snap, he had a snap that literally never left the ground. In the superdome - how is that possible. He also glad flagged for some more penalties too. I don't know how the Bears found it - but they literally have two of the worse centers in the entire league. Makes you wonder how bad Kramer is that he hasn't been able to get any shot.
  18. I'm in the sign a vet center like Jensen. Pay him but do it over 2-3 years and than draft someone in another year or two. Save your draft capital for some other spots and FA center(s) aren't horrible.
  19. I think Murray will be active this next week. We have to see - but supposedly he really likes new coachinf staff and vice versa. I would actually take a flyer on Murray if you didn’t want to draft a qb. Kingsbury is trash and he looked pretty good early in his career.
  20. If Kyler comes back than they might. But maybe they won’t bring Kyler back?
  21. He’s a very good all around tight end. Just like Jaylon is a really good db. He blankets guys and is a physical tackler. I expect if they sign him we will see more turnovers when they get a pass rush (already a bit better today with Sweat but they have work to do still there).
  22. I assume we will have a new coach - so that means a new system. Don’t think it is smart not to give the new coach a qb. But I have long said I am not handing a qb the job. Make whomever it is earn it.
  23. I think it is Bagent lack of arm strength that drives the downfield inaccuracy. Those two picks were just bad balls (way behind the guy). He has to see if he can continue to develop arm strength and really work on that accuracy. He has a lot of moxie so I could see it happening with some time. Good developmemtal qb.
  24. Thought the same thing. He isn’t bad off the ball but he is really good at mlb.
