  1. The Patriot way has been a colossal failure everywhere else. freak the Patriot way. Unless you are getting Bill Belliceck, odds are it will be a joke. Crennell, Weiss, McDaniels. All great offensive minds who have failed miserably. Pioli in KC will get axed (and has been a complete train wreck). I'll pass.
  2. Ask the Giants how that worked for them. Coughlin won two superbowls as a retread. Andy Reid is an incredible mind and a proven coach. He's much better then Holmgren. I'm not opposed to Holmgren but I'm curious as to what clowns would be on the list prior to Andy Reid. There aren't 12 better current head coaches then Andy Reid so I don't know how their are 12 better assistants. I'll chalk this up to the grass is always greener argument.
  3. I don't buy into Emery all that much. I think he has a decent eye for talent but he has a lot to prove and I don't know that I'd go carte blanche. Arians is the only assistant I really am interested in. With this defense, the window to win is now. If I'm hiring someone, it is a guy that can run the offense (or is proven enough to hire a guy that can run the offense). I'm fine with the cover 2. I'm not a big believer in just switching to the 3-4. If they bring in a guy like Nolan or something to run the defense, then so be it.
  4. Go ahead and hire some clown then. Andy Reid is one of the most inventive and brilliant offensive minds the league has seen and he is one of the more successful coaches in NFL history. reality is his time came in Philly, much like Lovie's has. Bears have an opportunity to take advantage of that and get a guy that is a QB guru and offensive guru to work with Marshall, Forte, and Cutler. This would be the best thing to happen to Jay. If Cowher comes I'm fine too. Bruce Arians is the only inexperienced coach i'd accept. However, given the talent on this team, hiring a mediocre assistant would piss me off. Their aren't that many names out their that are all that exciting (not when their are some really good head coaches on the market).
  5. Probably only a handlful of coaches have ever spent that long with any one team as a head coach. There is a reason for that. 6 division championships; 5 trips to NFC championships. Best 10 year run in Eagles history. 130-93-1; 3 time coach of the year.
  6. Belliceck was fired in the past. Shanny was fired. Coaches were hired to be fired. It happens. 9 playoff appearances in 14 seasons playing in what was one of the toughest divisions in football. Numerous NFC championships, lots of playoff wins. His entire team is hurt this year and they played hard till the end (despite an ass whooping). He's forgotten more about football then a lot of previous coaches. The guy is the very definition of elite. PS: Jeff Fisher was fired too. Lots of excellent coaches have been axed.

    Thank god

That is what I think happens too.
  8. He is an elite coach and it would be a coup to hire him.
  9. Outside of getting Cowher (which won't happen), it is the best option, imo.
  10. There is no better candidate. He is an offensive genius and a QB guru. I want Cutler to have a stud offensive guy around him. I would be fine keeping Marinelli but it probably won't happen.
  11. I still put the odds at greater that he isn't fired. Bottom line...one playoff appearance in 6 years is dismal.
  12. No need to blame GB. F U Lovie and the Bears. You took a very talented team and choked. 2 straight years choking, one playoff appearance in 6 years. While I think the Bears will do the cowardly thing and not fire him..there is absolutely zero reason Lovie should coach the Bears next year. Fire his ass.
  13. No way will they blow things up. They have a great defense and some weapons on offense. Their might be new coaches and new faces but they aren't cleaning house. This is one of the more talented teams in the league (and thats why I'm so pissed that we are at this point...rooting and hoping for the Packers to help us out).
  14. Playoffs or not, he's not getting canned with today's win. I'd be stunned if he was ousted this year (knowing what we know as of this point). Whether Minny wins or not, he'll be here next year.
  15. I think he keeps his job irregardless. All I know is it sickens me how many points the Bears leave out on the field each week cause of in execution. Whether it is drops or ruining momentum with penalties or an inability to get plays in, its just pathetic.
  16. Mediocre on the field at this point...almost always a semi jackass (at a minimum) off the field. Was a great player in his day and as far as I'm concerned his time has come and gone and next year Bears should move on. Briggs is the new face of the linebacking corps.
  17. He's probably the best long snapper ever. Good to have him back another year.
  18. It is more about Megatron blowing away Rice's record then anything else. In terms of how to play, players don't not play because of draft pick. No player would say that they do that. Players might give up due to frustration but I got a feeling the Lions don't like the Bears and will show up to play.
  19. I realize that, but they had the Packers beat (had it not been for their own stupidity) and the Falcons game was closer then the score (both the Falcons and GB are good teams). Basically put, Detroit has the record they do because they shoot themselves in the foot, however, if they have a game where they don't, they are pretty good. They clearly have 4 wins for a reason but they are much better then a typical 4 win team. They are a team in need of a real coach, one who preaches discipline. Lovie would actually be a pretty good fit for Detroit.
  20. This will be a tough game. Detroit can put up points. Bears are going to have to play well to beat the Lions (who will be motivated as hell to put up points with Calvin Johnson trying to get 2K yards and then some).
  21. I'm in. Lets win, hope the Pack win, and then if everything works out we play San Fran. Kaperneck has had 3 bad games this year (of his 6 or 7 he's played in). That was 2 against the Rams and this past game against the Seahawks. Additionally, he wasn't all that great in a big win over the Saints (the defense was). My biggest issue with this team is turnovers and the complete inabiltiy to make plays on offense (and the stupid offensive penalties). Defense looked much better with Jennings back (and Hayden in the nickel spot).
  22. I really don't think it is the forgone conclusion many people say it is. I think fact of the matter, if the Bears win next week (playoffs or not) Lovie stays. However, I personally think it should be playoffs or bust (and preferably a playoff win) for Lovie to keep his job. If only Lovie could have hired the right offensive mind to be the OC. Either way he's got no one to blame but himself.
  23. All that said, the defense is still pretty well built for a 4-3. Lots of quality dlinemen. Not a lot of LB depth.
  24. Capers wasn't that bad in Carolina. He only had chances on expansion teams so I would probably be okay giving him another shot, however, the young talent on this team is on the offensive side of the ball, and as far as I'm concerned, there is a lot of talent on this offense (Forte, Alshon, Marshall, and Cutler) when it comes to skill positions, so I want to put that talent with a really good offensive mind. Now if that means bringing in Norv Turner as the OC to support Capers, then I'm all for it.
  25. Now to win next week and have a little luck go our way with Minny losing (or Seattle losing tonight and next week against the Rams).
