  1. If you can go out and get a #1 you do it. Otherwise I'm not too interested unless it is a veteran who knows the system and can help our guys without taking much playing time from them (Holt seems to be that guy). No way should WR be a high priority fix though.
  2. He didn't say the line is good though, just that the talent was there and he raved about how he had no doubt Tice will get the line where it needs to be. I still think the Bears sign another guy for the oline though.
  3. Martz said a day ago that he has more talent on this oline than he has had in years.
  4. Have we utilized him? Cutler is in love with him and tried to go to him all the time, yet he really failed to get seperation and quite often failed to make the appropriate catches. He improved late in the season but Olsen is about as over-rated as it gets. Yes, he's physically talented and I enjoy having him on our team, but a 2nd round pick would be very valuable given our current situation (no 1st or 2nd) and yes...I'd give up Olsen for that.
  5. I'd be 1000 percent for it. I think Olsen is very overrated.
  6. Hester was moved to wide-out because he got a fat contract that paid him a lot more if he developed to be a #1. Thus, Devin wanted it too. And I'm curious to see what Devin does back as a primary return man. I have a feeling we will all be dissapointed.
  7. He's a good veteran that can help the Bears on 3rd downs and help teach our WR's a lot of new things. I think he would be a nice pick-up, especially since he knows our offense. And no, he wouldn't be a savior or anything along those lines. Just a solid vet to have on the squad.
  8. Awesome news. Glad to see the hard works paid off and the next set of work is going to be even tougher. Keep up the good work and kick some ass at Northern Ill!!!
  9. Whoa...Peppers is going to get quite possibly the largest contract ever given out to a DE. Kapman will not. Peppers is on another level as Kapman as well. I like Kapman more, but only because of the financial reasons. As a pure football player, Peppers is better, I just think there are some risks he gets lazy and doesn't produce.
  10. I think Kapman is a better fit. There is a bit more risk there, but a lot less financial risk in signing him and given all of the Bears potential needs, Kapman would allow the team to adequately address a need while still giving them the resources to do something else.
  11. I'm really excited with this hire. I don't know if it will turn out, but it could pan out BIG TIME.
  12. Forte's ability to catch the ball out of the backfield though act as a safe running play so I think we'll see a very very productive season from Forte and whomever his back-up ultimately is (and I expect it to be a very good back-up, ie a Chester Taylor or LT).
  13. I'm excited. I don't know if it will work, but he's got a hell of a resume and knows offense. He is also well respected and I think he could do some good things for Cutler. Plus, he'll be the best QB (talent wise) that Martz has ever had (Warner is the best he's ever worked with though). Forte has a pretty nice combo skill-set so I think you could call him a poor man Marshall Faulk and he's got some TE's that he never had before (Olsen/Clark). I spose Vernon Davis was a talent but when Martz was in San Fran Davis apparently didn't have the greatest work ethic.
  14. I find it pretty hillarious how he was able to work and develop under one of the best offensive minds of all time and one of the best coaches of all time (Shanny). Never was a word said about him being a baby or anything. In fact, SHanny absolutely loved him as did all of the people who worked with him in Denver prior to McDeutche. THan all of a sudden he turns into a baby. I flat out don't buy it and I'm so sick and tired of hearing it. The media needs to do its homework instead of spout out ridiculous, unfounded shit.
  15. I don't buy into it and I think its a bunch of bullshit. The guy was tough as nails on the field. Took hit after hit and got back up and tried his ass off. If anyone thinks he doesn't care, they are freakin nuts.
  16. I'm ok if we go either way. I like that Rogers runs a version of the west coast which at least means Jay isn't learning a completely new system (as he would with Martz) but at the same time, Martz has proven he is a dynamic offensive mind.
  17. freak it....I might not be 100% sure that he'll succeed, but we'd be hiring a guy that has a reputation of being one of the best offensive coordinators in NFL history and was a winning head coach.
  18. They'll hire him and while it is risky I'm okay with it.
  19. If the Bears don't have football for a full-season, they will still have significant operational expenditures that will go out despite no football. If they had two head coaches under salary, you might be talking about a pretty significant increase with no revenues to off-set them. The Bears are looking forward when they made this decision and it should enable them to come out of the strike with cash to spend. If they weren't forward thinking, they might come out of a strike without a ton of money sitting in there coffers and have to wait a full season to refill those coffers. It isn't like teams just have 30 million laying around while a lock-out happens. Especially an organization that doesn't have cash flows from other businesses to really help support them. Oh and i fully expect a significant lock-out at this time. The sides are incredibly far apart and unless one side caves in big time we will see a significant work stoppage.
  20. No, it is the smart thing to do. In fact, if it went for a long time, I wouldn't be shocked if a lot of teams had people off of payroll for that reason.
  21. I really really really like Clements and think he'd be an exceptional hire. The only tough part about trading for our OC (and I'd be okay giving up Moore) is that we don't know if he'll be here for much more than a year so it would be hard to give up a pick (especially one that the Bears felt was a sleeper a year ago) for what might be one year of coaching. That said, I buy into Clements being the guy we can have with Cutler for a long time and I think Clements could fit into a long-term strategy with the Bears. The hard part is, no matter who we bring in, there will be a significant adjustment period where the offense adjusts to the new system and we will see plenty of turnovers and errors because of it. I think at the end, I'd trade for Clements. I freakin really really like him and think he'll be a dynamic, young mind, who one day will be a hell of a HC.
