Chris Conte - 3rd Rounder
And outside of Wright, none of those guys were relatively high picks. Oh and didn't Chris Harris get drafted and make the pro bowl?

Chris Conte - 3rd Rounder
IT is a real good sign that the guy was a safety that could play in the pac 10. If you can play a little D in the pac 10 and hold up against the pass you are in good shape, especially since the Pac 10 has more NFL offenses than any conference in the country, imo (with the exception to Oregon).

Chris Conte - 3rd Rounder
Mike Mayock is raving about him. Said he was shooting up the draft boards and they talk about how he is just a big tackler and gets in the middle of everything. Was an OLB up until this past season. 1st team All American in the Pac 10 last year. And since I like Mayock, I'll support the player, not the need. Of course, we've needed safeties forever so its nice that we are finally addressing the position the past 2 drafts.

Chris Conte - 3rd Rounder
Bears draft a safety from Cal. Personally, I'm puzzled but my guess is we don't think Manning is coming back. I haven't heard any commentary yet on our pick. Still, I had other needs on our list that I would have opted for before taking this guy.

3rd Round Pick?
Your speil is getting old.

3rd Round Pick?
You know what, I"d be quite fine with Ballard. I know he had that drug test show up, but as a Hawkeye fan I have always thought Ballard was pretty underrated and that he'll be a solid starting DT.

3rd Round Pick?
Outside of the first two WR's, most of the WR's in this draft were extremely flawed. And DT and OT were far more pressing needs. I'm exstatic at what we did so far.

3rd Round Pick?
Hankerson is off the boards. Now I'm pretty convinced we go guard, DE or CB. And I'd be fine with any of those. Also, could opt to trade down to get that 4th back.
-
3rd Round Pick?
IF we got Hankerson on top of all this, wow, I'd be exstatic.

Paea it is!
He wasn't just a beast in the weight room. He was the defensive player of the year in the pac 10 and forced 8 fumbles in the last 2 years for a mediocre OSU team.

Paea it is!
The 4th rounder we were supposed to trade to Baltimore.
- Paea it is!

Austin gone...
Dang. I'm guessing when Austin went off the board, the Bears decided they had to get there DT and move up. Great move, this makes sense.

bears trade up
Here comes Paea or Hankerson, imo.

Bowers at #62 ???
The thing is, the teams that are passing on him, are passing on him for the same reason so if they don't think he can play, they wouldn't take him at 10 or 40. Eventually some team isn't going to be as concerned and say, screw it, but its just hard to potentially throw away a draft pick, when your medical people are telling you there is a better than not chance that medical problems prevent him from ever being the same player. And it isn't like is upside is a 15 sack end. He's probably a 7 to 9 sack good all around end. Which is fantastic and next to Peppers would be phenomenal but I think of him as a little better version of Alex Brown. Great to have, yes, but if Austin is on the board who is a first round talent and healthy, I'm going with Austin. However, I won't gripe if we get Bowers in rnd 2. But if he ends up never being able to play, I guarantee a ton of Bears fans will say, what was Angelo doing, he should have known.

The Vikings are on crack...
The Lions are heading in the right direction now that Millen is gone. They are doing some good things, imo. Although I am not in love with that wideout pick they just made.
-
The Vikings are on crack...
They do have a ton of weapons for whomever the QB is. But it didn't seem like a position of need at all. I guess though with garbage at wideout they figured they'd add a 2nd TE, which might not be bad, cause both are decent enough blockers and they'll probably run the ball a ton with Apete and than use a lot of play action to those blocking TE's, both of which are legit pass threats.
-
Bowers at #62 ???
Lions could take a chance at putting together a hell of a line if everything panned out.
-
Bowers at #62 ???
Little probably goes before the Bears pick. However, I'd be able to get behind Bowers at 62. The thing is, doctors have said there is a good shot he doesn't do anything in the NFL due to injury concerns and that is a pretty serious medical red flag. I also wouldn't be shocked if Bowers is there. Austin and some of the other guys we've thrown out, highly unlikely. But I'd rather take a character red flag on our dline than a medical red flag so if both Austin and Bowers are there, I'm taking Austin. I say that because there isn't a dline coach I'd rather work with a character red flag than Mr. Marinelli.

Carimi is a bear
Ok, I like it even more. IF he's a natural LT that would be phenomenal.

Carimi is a bear
If Cutler really said that, hillarious, haha.

2nd round options??
Austin is not going to fall all the way to our 3rd round pick. No way, no how.
-
Screw Sidney Rice...How about a Super Bowl MVP
Sure, he had an off the field incident, but the guy can produce and is probably a much better fit in Martz offense than Rice. I'm calling it now, Bears will sign Santonio Holmes!
-
Carimi is a bear
I'll at least give JA credit for handling it classy, but man, those two guys that didn't make that phone call are idiots. And quite frankly, it just seems like a horribly unlucky sequence of events, but who knows. For now, I'll ignore it, but it could have been a complete and utter disaster where we ended up not getting our guy. Chiefs grab him and we are shit out of luck. It does say something to me that we liked him that much that we would move up though.

Carimi is a bear
Wow, after seeing this stuff this morning, sounds like it was a pretty bad goof by the Bears. I'd be ok if they decided to move there 4th rounder to move up in the 2nd round as a way to save "face". I'm happy either way. We got our guy Carimi.
