  1. I read on the Tribune that the Bears could move quickly on Rogers (if they liked him). If not, it'll be a bit longer as the team will turn its attention to college coaches, specifically Alabama and Miami's OC's, both of whom have NFL experience. I'm ok with both of those names and some of you guys might have warmed me up to Rogers given the work he's done with Tavaris (raw and improved), Favre (best year), and McNabb (Syracuse).
  2. Right now the perception out west is that the Bears are flailing at everyone. They don't get talked about too much on west coast radio but right now, they are getting hit pretty hard.
  3. This is an awful search though. At least the PR is terrible.
  4. I'd be very excited if we brought Zorn in.
  5. Ya, I don't know if it would be wise to hire an unproven guy or not. He seems pretty smart though. I definitely think the Bears need to hire a legit QB coach for Cutler. One whom can tell him and yell at him when needed, but ultimately have his respect.
  6. But being under contract by the Cardinals probably wouldn't prevent him from coaching somewhere else. Playing sure, but I got a feeling the Cardinals would let him coach somewhere else if he wanted to (they might even offer him a job).
  7. I guarantee the Bears would hire Christensen. The problem is he is supposed to take over for Moore shortly. If that is the case, why would you leave for Chicago? The only reason would be if the Bears offered a significant amount of money and I can't see them doing that knowing that they might have a new coach a year from now.
  8. And if next year it looks like a lockout will happen, Lovie will remain as the Bears coach and the team will essentially not hire anyone until it is decided we will play football again.
  9. I think the biggest fear was paying two coaches not to coach. I honsetly believe that and you know what, I can't necessarily blame the team that much. They could have been paying 12M to just the head coaches to not coach (Lovie and Cowher) and that would be a pretty big disaster. If the lockout wasn't looming or there was more certainty that everything would go smoothly with a new CBA, we would have seen Lovie fired.
  10. I can't say I listen to him much, but he seems to have some solid NFL sources. I know out on the west coast he is thought of pretty highly. Albeit, I've heard he tends to be a Bear hater.
  11. By no means do I think we have this handshake deal, but I do say this, I wish Angelo and Phillips would just look up and say you know what, we've botched this...Lovie, your gone, Cowher come on down.
  12. The last few years the Bears haven't been cheap. They've given out huge bonuses, traded for a pro-bowl QB, given that QB an extension, and paid big money to there coaches (Lovie is one of the highest paid). I would have liked to think that meant things had changed. This all coincided with us having a new stadium which was supposed to mean more revenue anyway. Basically put, I kind of thought the Bears were behaving like a different organization but now it doesn't seem like that is the case, despite the franchise drawing so much revenue.
  13. Chow also worked with Phillip Rivers at NC State, so it isn't just USC QB's that he's developed.
  14. The guy is an offensive guru in the college ranks and has a long history of calling plays. He called them in Tennessee for a couple of years with Vince Young there and while that might not have been a great fit for the offense Chow likes, I think Cutler would be a perfect fit for him. I'd be all for Chow, in fact, I'd like him more than any other candidate. Chow was the offensive mind behind the early USC offenses with Palmer/Leinart.
  15. Kurt Warner is expected to announce his retirement on Friday. Could the Bears turn to Martz for their OC position and than offer Warner a job as our QB coach. I realize Warner would have a lot to prove, but he makes quick reads, gets rid of the ball quickly, and would be a pretty good role model for Cutler. Just throwing it out there since evidently NFL network is reporting that Warner wants to pursue coaching or the broadcast booth when he retires.
  16. Evidently Hub Arkush is of the perception that the Bears low-balled Chud and that is the reason he isn't our OC. Per Hub, The Bears apparently offered Chud a contract but the value was well lower than what a typical OC gets paid. If true, what a freakin disgrace.
  17. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...ions-26.article All I can say is...Schwwwwiing.
  18. Evidently Rogers has a few OC offers potentially on the table from the college ranks. I doubt he'll wait long on the Bears. If the Bears don't offer him something quickly, he'll probably jump at the college offers. I think this Cignetti guy will be who we hire.
  19. He currently works for Wanny but has a pretty good resume. Moon indicated that he might be one of the guys the Bears first targeted and are most interested in. I'll be interested to see what happens. I like his resume and his history of developing some pretty sucessful QB's (both in college and the pro's).
  20. I'm over it. I've gotten past getting excited or anything. I hope we end up finding someone but there is no other way than a total failure that I can perceive the search and how it was handled.
  21. Tice and Marinelli will be our OC and DC.
  22. Wait, what is wrong with the Ravens QB coach. He's done a phenomenal job with a young QB in Flacco. And the Ravens offense is no longer the laughing stock in the league that it once was. I don't see how this is a bad thing. Ravens have a pretty well balanced offense now, in fact, people were ripping on there defense for a chunk of the season (until it got healthy).
  23. Interesting how Lovie will be here interviewing instead of scouting at the Senior bowl. That has me concerned because I think it is important for our head coach to be at the senior bowl watching guys play, especially since at the very least a handful of these guys will be available when we pick in the 3rd round and later.
  24. It is now official. Bears received permission, have talked to Jackson, and he is flying out today/tonight and will interview with Lovie Smith and the team tomorrow. The Raiders have evidently already offered Jackson a position on there staff (who knows which position). I can't imagine any jackass would take a spot with the Raiders over a spot with the Bears given that they still haven't 100% decided who their head coach is.
