  1. This is why I have the Bears not investing in the dline and instead oline, secondary and a wideout. I think more value in the draft there and the team needs to be patient. On the line I think guys are getting overvalued and people are squinting and hoping. In general I do think there is a lot of quality in this depth, but not a ton of blue chippers - but also the quality on the line after the first efw drops off a lot (and than there are a lot of solid guys - but with limited upside).
  2. The more I've thought about it, Mesidor is on my don't draft list. I just can't buy into a 25 year old and really understand our level of intelligence and ability to effectively scout what was beccause he's had that much more time for his development. I don't see anything explosive around his measurables - etc. He was a dominant college player though.
  3. I would be pretty happy with your top 2. Those are two guys I like - I don't love Banks at 25 (but love him in 2nd round) and on Faulk I am guessing he won't be there but I think he's going to be a good player...maybe can develop into a Montez type of guy. I don't see him as elite - but a very good end is not a bad thing. If we got Faulk at 25 I would be perfectly content.
  4. Alright - lets this be a draft we look back on as one that built upon the initial foundation to send this franchise to sustained excellence! Lets go!
  5. Which is where is Trapillo a great bridge guy who can slide out and give versatility but he ends up after he gets healthy sliding into a guard spot and become a mauler for whomever he replaces. I'm really digging the idea of the Utah LT if we can get him and Bears see him growing into a top 10 type of LT. Getting that type of value out of 25 on the long-run on a rookie deal would be huge. And to be honest - I think this upcoming year is going to be hard, probably a bit of a pull back (harder schedule / less turnovers / and D can't turn on a dime)...so I really want to make sure they are focusing on the long haul. It is why another player I like a lot with one of the 2nd round picks is the Louisville wideout who is coming back from the ACL injury. I think like Luther - he's a guy you go get knowing when you get to tail end of the season you have another high-upside guy and are getting a Top 20 talent with one of our 2nd round picks. I also think with what we are trying to do offensively, using the Moore pick on a young cheap receiver with upside is a good thing. With the other 2nd rounder - I think I might move back and get 2 picks and go with a safety, db and dlinemen with the other 3 picks. Basically put - WR/ LT, Safety, Dline, and DB are where I go. I may be punting on Dline a bit - back to my concept of take a step back - because the value of the draft just might not be there this year and I don't think we are superbowl ready anyway. I also think we'll have a lot more cap space next year and we'll have gotten to see if Booker can take a step forward. I do think there are some really intriguing safeties if we hold off to round 2 / round 3 at that spot and the IU DB looks pretty good. No idea if we could pull it off - my dream draft: 1st Utah LT 2nd IU DB or Tennessee DB 2nd Kyle Louis (safety) or Trevon Sykes 2nd Chis Bell (Wideout - ACL Injury) Dline or Center 3rd Dline or Center with our next pick
  6. I think of it as - push him in training camp and push him hard with the staff - but know you have Jones and Benedet as bridges until you are ready. If you think in a year or two he's a probowl / well above average LT - than you got to get him. I'm not worried about whether he's ready day 1 - I worry about do they think he's got the elite skillset and has he shown enough on tape and is he the type of guy who will respond to coaching and maximize his potential (cause he seems to have a very projectable future).
  7. He was good enough that their starting LT got moved to RT (who is also going to go in the draft). I think Lomu is very projectable. There is definitely risk but this guy profiles to develop into an above average LT. Maybe not plug and play - but I like him a LOT more than Trapillo (who to his credit was passable - but Trapillo still to me is a RT or maybe a guard longer term). If Bears move up - I'm doing it to make sure I get this guy (presuming they do have him graded as an above avg LT). I also believe in the Bears oline coach to develop someone like this. I also am less enamored with the dline candidates sitting there at 25 and I think the dropoff to the next group of LT candidates is non-existent (ie if you don't take one at 25 - don't bother addressing LT in this draft). At same time - don't reach, has to be you really see this guy projecting out. At same time - if he was that good, in a draft with few LT candidates, the next question is why is he actually dropping to the high teens / early to mid 20's? Maybe small school works here.
  8. Biggs floated a rumor that Bears have a team they are set to move up a few spots for if the player they want gets there. Not sure who that might be. I think Mesidor fits as do some of these OT's as I don't think any of them get to the Bears pick. Key here is - do Bears see a material fall off between who they can get 3-5 spots higher vs. where they sit and is the value there. I'm hoping cost to move up wouldn't be that bad. I also think if it doesn't go there way, plenty of possibilities they move back a bit.
  9. What say you? I'm going to go OT - I think they move up a few spots and grab the Utah prospect. If not OT, I think it will be a DB and think it would be the Tulane safety or a trade down and they grab the IU DB.
  10. Great deal for Giants. Wow - that is quite the premium. Bengals messed up so bad - lost Hendrickson when they could have got multiple picks a year ago and now give up a pick that early. And they have wideouts and Joe B paid. Absolute buffoons.
  11. I absolutely would give up one of our 2nd rounders straight up for him. Preferably the Bills pick - basically think of it as DJ for Dexter.
  12. The Bears cap situation is pretty solid - it’s tight this year but than the albatross players on dline open up (Ayo and Jarrett). They have a lot of flexibility coming there plus still have a ton of flexibility for guys under contract too.
  13. Again if Lawrence issues were an injury and just bad luck and they don’t any long term concerns and view him as a guy who will be an all pro…my offer probably wouldn’t be realistic. That said - Lawrence most of his career would be a massive upgrade. Another scenario I would consider is both 2nd rounders and Dexter for Lawrence and their 2nd rounder.
  14. I can't imagine him getting that - feels like he wants more guaranteed money but he's at a fair going rate. I am pleasantly optimistic if his pressure rate remained high. For some reason I thought I had read that it was also down in '25. Again - I'm not giving up a 1st. I thought about one of our 2nd rounders - but didn't love that either given the cost and fact they were coming off bad year (and less leverage). But I do think if you could get him for a move back (25 for 37) and than a sweetner (pick next year) or a 3rd this year (and we pick up there 4th rounder) that lets them jump up and get 5th year option in round 1 and get another pick earlier in the draft.
  15. I don't know what drove Lawrence to have a down year last year - but if the front office thought it was an anamoly and they thought he could still be the player he was most of his career - I would be open to a deal but very particular. Basically Lawrence and 25 to move back to 37. So Giants get to jump back up into the 1st round and Bears move back 12 picks. If we needed to give like a future 5th fine.
  16. League doesn’t want to admit that they messed up. Sucks but it is what it is.
  17. Smith is someone the Bears liked so hopefully he is feeling good and healthy and ready to compete. I could see 2 of first 3 or 4 picks being dbs (safety and CB).
  18. I agree - in the move to 43 - are we just giving up 25? If so I can kind of see it but would expect bears may want to move back closer to 30/35 which is okay.
  19. They should try and get him some practice reps towards end of the year but plan on it being a full redshirt season. The reps at the end are just to help push him as he heads into the offseason and to help Bears get a perspective of where he is so they can make plans a year from now.
  20. Really sorry to hear that - glad you are at least out of the hospital and on the mend! Sending you nothing but positive thoughts on your recovery!!!
  21. Quality depth signing and solid special teams. Agree with a few of you - think this means it isn’t a likely target first few rounds unless they really love someone who falls to them.
  22. Biggs had a report I think it was today - seemed to indicate don't expect any movement no these DL guys for a while. Maybe after the draft there will be some urgency - team doesn't get someone they like or address things as expected, but right now - it seems evident - Bears want Shemar plus another draft pick or two along with the continued development of Booker - as the strategy for enhancing the line. Adding one of these vets - takes away reps from one of those young players - with minimal upside. For example, Cam, Bosa, Espenosa - none of them are strong players at this point in their career. So you kind of know what your upside is there vs. giving reps to a next generation who could be material upgrades.
  23. I’m in this camp. I don’t think DA wouldn’t find use for Chris Jones or Deforest but you make do. I get it you need 3-4 or you have certain styles but in the interior talent wins. I do understand if you run 4-3 your run D might get punished if you have light ends (ie certain 3-4 ends aren’t going to work as 4-3 ends)
  24. I think a CB falling that Bears like is a real probability and I easily could see them selecting said player. It is a big need given Stevenson was in doghouse for a while and the 3 best DBs on team all missed substantial time (JJ, Kyler and Smith). I also think I wouldn’t be shocked if Bears went WR earlier than we think. If a player Ben likes is there I could easily see them go back to that well (ala Luther) with one of the 2nd rounders. I don’t think they would do it at 25 and as you mentioned in that scenario I think trade down offers would be good. Re: safety the Toledo safety would pair nice with Bryant too. Physical. Penn States safety would be great in 2nd round. Really wish we had that extra 3rd!
  25. He reminds me a bit of Alex Brown - good solid player, but I fear doesn’t have the high end tools to be an impact player. With one of our 2nd rounders, heck yeah, but at 25 I think I’d rather go with one of the 3T options, trade back (maybe to get your guy Jacas but at a better spot) or grab a DB/Safety where I think we can get an impact player if they do it right.
