I like what bears did - I didn’t think they got cute - I think they got a lot of quality football players or decent talents with strong measurable who hopefully can be coached up. Competition for the oline is significantly improved between draft and free agency and same when I look at offensive skill position players.
-
The BC guy is a potential starting right tackle - which gives bears a ton of flexibility if they decide they like Wright at LT - he also could be a depth guy at LT and at his size could swing into guard. The BC guy can play - I don’t know if his upside is there but he is a solid addition and the line is a ton better.

More along the lines of going against the consensus. It is not a bad draft, but did the Bears get any Day 1 starters in this draft with 4 picks in the top 62? Unless something changes, the Bears walked away with TE2, WR3, OT3, and DT4 with those picks when they could've easily had RB1, Edge2, or S1, but I guess the positional value was not there for them.
I think you are really overreacting when you think in rounds 4-7 there is a major consensus.
They added 4 guys in first 2 rounds - leveraging a trade back and got 3 guys who over past 12 months had first round grades at a point in time. Stewart was playing with an injury all season - if it really impacted him they are getting a pretty high upside dline candidate and the wideout was clear bpa and his only knock is small hands. His draft was very much impacted by lousy qb play at Missouri.

Protectable center or guard option - real good draft pick this late.

“Build through the trenches!”
”No! Not like that!”
Curious where they see him playing Lt on line. Like what they have done. Focus on measurable in late rounds.
-
I don’t get the comparison at all. If you are going to argue late round picks it’s fruitless and ultimately they just got to draft guys they think have measurable or will overcome lack of measurable when it comes to late rounds.
Overall I think they focused on best available talent and guys they could project throughout the draft and they acquired more picks and focused getting a maximum number within range where the depth of this draft lied.

At this point, I don't know if it even matters. Older prospect who will be 25 in October, he is a year younger than Jaylon Johnson.
Seen a lot of spots that had him as a pretty good value pick at this point of draft. We have good db coach - let’s see what they can get out of those tools.
-
He has measurables - like legit tools. Big and fast.
-
Pick up a future 4th for moving from 5th to 6th. Not bad.
-
Another trade - given this was more of a depth draft in general - I don’t mind this. Would love to pick up a future pick out of this too
-
Swinson, Neal or one of the best available guard prospects all look like good options. I think OSU center was out there too - could be a good depth move.

I presume this is a Jack Sanborn type of replacement with good athleticism who can also be a special teams guy?

I think the draft has given us some insight into their opinion of the team.
It seems they didn't deem LT as a must get priority as a lot of fans have. As I said before, they will let Braxton and Kiran compete and bring a player in to develop because Braxton probably won't be here next year.
Johnson talked many times about weapons and clearly added 2 with a RB left to get. He plans on playing chess with our offense and added players he can do that with.
They didn't seem to think S and LB needed attention as they added no one in Free agency or in the draft so far. Anyone now would be developmental.
I think RB and DE will be addressed in the 4th round. Hopefully Jack Sawyer and Cam Skattebo would make me happy.
On point one - it’s hard to say. I think Banks might have been an option but he wasn’t there so that made it a moot point. They clearly had a higher grade on their 2nd round pick than any OT still on board…the wideout they got was a bpa type of pick who also feels a lot like Amon St Brown.

There is another trenches pick. Will replace Pickens, who really underwhelmed.
I’m willing to see what Pickens does being healthy as I know he put in a lot of work last offseason before getting hurt.
Plus new coaching staff. Either way I like what they have done with both lines - would like to see some of our previous years class take steps forward and hopefully some hits right now.
-
Was really high on him - very happy with this pick! Quite frankly getting pretty happy with draft given how first 9 picks played out.
-
Seems reasonable given depth of this draft. I’m guessing they really wanted one of those osu running backs.
Im out on 2nd round OT - looking at history bust rate is high. Go with one of the backs, dlinemen, safety or one of those good guard prospects. No one will look back and say did you get good value - they will look back and say did you get good players.

I love the player but did not see it coming. I did many mocks taking him because he is electric. Does DJ Moore get traded?
No - we haven’t seen good offenses in our life. They are trying to create match up problems and a legit offense - that is why they now have 3 good wideouts and 2 good tight ends. My guess is they don’t focus on back as much until later now.
-
They needed a wideout and this guy can play. Looks like they focused on getting Caleb and coach more toys. Wonder if we see oline or dline next?
Reality is goal is to draft good players and while I would have moved around - I think they got good players with their first two picks.

Based on cap numbers, unless Kmet is traded, they will probably cut him after 2025, especially if a rookie outperforms him.
Kmet is fairly compensated especially relative to the growing cap. If Kmet doesn’t play well - fine - but if this works out I expect this two man advantage at TE to play itself out over the next couple of years as a real differentiator and match up problem - especially when combined with their top 2 wideouts and ideally an explosive back (who can catch the ball too)…makes playing defense with a creative very difficult. This also should help a young QB.

Bingo! That’s why this pick doesn’t make sense unless Kmet is on the chopping block. That’s way too much tied into the TE position, regardless of the amount of 12-package being run.
Everyone needs to remember, there is still only one football.
I disagree - they clearly viewed the other spots as guys with flaws lower on their boards and saw Loveland as a guy with high end upside who combined with Kmet and Moore and Rome legitimate matchup problems. If you dump Kmet you get rid of that advantage in a 12 men situation.
I still will have went with the trenches - but it’s clear in my mind that while I value a pick elsewhere, that Loveland is a very high end elite TE prospect, a notch below Bowers but not a ton.

Several LTs still available, for me they are drafting a LT for 2 yrs from now,not this year. They are going to let the Braxton/ Kiran competition okay out.
Easy to criticize now but let's let the draft play out. They are still going to draft a LT
Players I still want:
Josh Conerly
Aireontae Ersery
Josh Simmons
Gary Zabel
Marcus Mbow
Charles Grant
Anthony Belton
Zabel went already.

If Simmons is the player he was in college by week 5 then HELL yes. I might even take that guy over Banks! But I dont know how to value the injury.
I would be fine trading up a few picks as well - than just move down from our next 2nd a bit to recoup.

I could see bears signing a vet free agent given how draft played out.
