  1. I'm hoping for Brannan Southerland with one of our 7's...
  2. Yeah, Manning probably will never live up to his potential, and is a bit of a disappointment, but he showed himself last year to be a really solid nickle corner and a really good return man. Not what we were expecting from him when we originally draft him, but at least he has produced some and hasn't been a total bust. Also, I think this makes it official that Bullocks will be our FS. I think he can flourish in the cover 2, as he was not made for man to man at all. I like the Afalava pick. It's in the 6th, and this guy provides decent depth and some really good special teams potential.
  3. real good value here and fits our scheme.
  4. Screw the Texans. I wanted James Casey big time. I thought he could have been a very versatile player for us.
  5. This is easily my favorite pick of the draft for us. He'll play UT for us, and if we ever change schemes to a 3-4, he could be a really good 5-tech as well. We needed a backup UT and I think we view Harrison as more of a NT, so that will allow him to focus his attention there. I really like this pick.
  6. Great value pick. Could potentially be a good nickle back. Hey, maybe we might decide to move him to wideout if corner doesn't work out.
  7. The only reason why I don't like this pick is because we passed up on T.J. Lang for him. However, other than that, this is a good pick. People are acting like a 4th rounder is gonna come in and make an impact. News flash, odds are they will be developmental players, and Melton is a really good developmental player who can be a much better NFL player than he was as a college player.
  8. Currie was basically a track star playing football. Know is actually a football player. He could be a really good slot receiver in a few years.
  9. If Michael Johnson is still on the board, I see him. I really don't like him, but at that point, he's got too much potential to pass up.
  10. I doubt it, but he could be an option at 68. However, I'd still prefer Mike Wallace if we go WR.
  11. I disagree. No team was willing to give up any picks this year for Boldin. However, they will still likely be willing to trade Boldin. I doubt it happens, but I wouldn't mind giving up a 2nd and 3rd next year for him.

    Boldin

As much as I would love to, we don't have the cap room, and apparently the rumors about a 2nd round pick are false anyway.
  13. Perhaps you missed it where JA is the GM and Mike Wallace could very well be his guy.
  14. How's it a smoke screen when the player said it? What, did the Bears pay him 100 bucks to say that or something?
  15. http://www.blogdownchicagobears.com/2009/0...ars-draft-hand/ That is Mike Wallace talking. Personally, if all of the other top receivers are gone by this point, Wallace would probably be my next top pick for a WR. I really like him. He has great speed (4.33 40) and quickness, and is a very explosive player. He is a legit deepthreat, but is kind of raw. However, he's got potential to be a really solid weapon in the passing game, and he's a great returner. Also, JA talked the other day about how they don't want a "vanilla cone" when they pick. They want someone with a swirl, some sort of twist. I thought that was a pretty good analogy, as I think it shows we won't be drafting someone for the sake of drafting them. I think Massaquoi or Iglesias are that vanilla cone his talking about. I think Wallace fits that bill as a swirl, JA was talking about.
  16. I'm just worried we won't see a new deal and next year will be uncapped.
  17. And saves them some money. Curry agreed to take less then what Long got last year (I think that was something like 60 million). Stafford's offer is at like 80 million with 40 million in guarantees. It's ridiculous that a rookie who never played a down in the NFL will be getting paid 10x more what a lot of proven vets are getting paid. Hopefully if they get the new CBA through, they can have a rookie cap in there limiting the amount of money top 10 picks can get.
  18. NFL.com will be streaming it live all day on Saturday and Sunday.... however, Saturday and Sunday might be different in your area.
  19. Like I said in another thread, Britt's "character concerns" are basically BS. He's never had any trouble off the field, and from what I have gathered from Rutgers fans and people who have met Britt, he is a great guy. He is a very confident player, almost cocky, and wants to be the best. Some people mistake that for being a prima donna. Also, I don't get why Crabtree gets a pass. Everything I have heard about him is that he is very arrogant, and wants to cash in his pay check ASAP. If anything, I'd say Crabtree is the biggest potential "prima donna" in this draft.
  20. McShay is a bonehead and I'm still trying to figure out how he has a job on ESPN. This guy has been horrendous for years, and is leaps and bounds the worst draft analyst on tv.
  21. Britt has virtually no character concerns and those have been drastically out of proportion. Ask any Rutgers fan or anyone who's meet him, and they'll tell how good of a guy he is. Robiskie, I forgot, but I'd still prefer any of the 3 over him. Harvin, while he does have the concerns, if he's there at 49, I doub't we'd pass him up. Picking him at 49 is no where the risk is of picking him at 18. Nicks, he's just a very solid player.
  22. Lets see here... since I don't have a laptop, I will likely watch NFLN's draft coverage streaming online from my room, while chatting about it with you guys as well as this other board I'm a part of. It should also give me plenty of time to do some home work when things are dragging along.
  23. Only one good thing about this... it likely eliminates the Jags as a team that would draft a WR before 49. I'm still holding out hope for one of Harvin, Nicks, or Britt. If one of them falls, or even if we trade up, one of them would make a very happy man.
  24. The Bears trade up to the 35 range and pick one of the receivers that fall out of the 1st (in order of preferance): Britt, Harvin, Nicks, Robiskie. I'm a huge Britt fan. I think he's very similar to Brandon Marshall except without all the character concerns.
  25. I'm not giving up hope yet, but it certainly doesn't look good.
