Oh I agree. However, I think this shows you just how bad Nagy is than Fields. Could Fields have played better, absolutely, but within this offense and those play calls, I don't know how much better. We have Fields for a minimum of 4 years. Let's see what we got. Mitch got that. Nagy needs to go. Not a single play designed to help his QB out. Mitch was also never under that type of assault. Where is the max protect, the moving pocket? Garrett and Clowney knew exactly where they needed to go on every play.

Lawrence and Wilson both with 7 INTs thru 3 games. On pace for 2nd most INTs thrown in a season. Essentially a historically bad start for both and they practiced with their 1s for months. Jones had 3 INTs today too.

It's Nagy. Mitch wasn't the answer, but his play masked the terrible offensive structure. There is just so much to unpack. Receivers can't get open because they are not running routes where they can get open. They run into the teeth of the defense on every play. The defense had 5 DBs between 8-10 yards, and all the routes end between 8-10 yards. That happens on every pass play. Even the completions were contested. The Bears can't even get a yard if needed. 4th and 1 in the RZ, kick a FG. Odds of losing after that - 100%.

This is all on Nagy, he should be fired for negligence. His handling of Fields is borderline criminal. One screen pass all game. Monty had 10 carries total. Where were the easy dink and dunk plays? Rollouts, bootlegs, moving the pocket? That was the worst coached game I think I have ever seen firsthand. It was embarrassing. Zero adjustments. The O-Line was getting manhandled because the plays were so predictable. All they had to do was run straight at Fields as fast as they could. Nothing made them stop or go lateral all game. I almost feel like Nagy did this on purpose so he can bring Dalton back next week. If Dalton plays again this year, Nagy has to be fired. I am ready for a new HC.

The defense actually had a great game, 5 sacks and decent pressure all game. It's hard to be good when you are on the field for 39 mins. The TOP was 39 to 20 in favor of Cleveland. It was 13-6 after Nagy pusses out and goes for a FG. It should've been 13-10 going into the 4th. You could tell the defense was gassed in the 4th when Hunt took over. Chubb only had 3.8 yards a carry. Hunt is the one who did the damage late in the game. Even vs the Rams, they were only down 20-14 late in the 3rd before letting up 2 TDs that put the game out of reach. The defense does everything possible but then really shits the bed late. Cincy even had a late surge with 2 TDs. Opponents have outscored the Bears 34-13 in the 4th quarter in 3 games and 7 of the Bears pts is from Roquan Smith. So offense vs offense, 34-6. Sickening.
-
This offense has mustered 3 TDs in 3 games and none in the last 7 quarters of play. The defense beat Cincy. Without the Smith Pick-6 the Bears are 0-3. If the Bears lose to the Lions next week, Nagy has to be fired.

It's funny because creating offensive plays is not rocket science. There are 11 players on each side, you can create mismatches with route combos, personnel, and motion. Nagy doesn't use any of those. Every play is swallowed up, receivers can't get open because they literally run straight into a defender then turn around for the ball, which is easily defended every time. Watching the Bears offense is like watching a High School offense playing against an NFL defense. It's literally embarrassing.

This was not a good week for rookie QBs, all of them lost and played bad: Fields 6-20, 68 yds, 0 TD vs CLE (0-1 as a starter) Wilson 19-35, 160 yds, 0 TD, 2 INT vs DEN (0-3 as a starter) Lawrence 22-34, 219 yds, 1 TD, 2 INT vs ARZ (0-3 as a starter) Jones 30-51, 270 yds, 1 TD, 3 INT vs NO (1-2 as a starter) Fields the only one without a INT. BTW, KC is 1-2 and last in their division. IND is 0-3 and somehow behind HOU in their division.

The offense is painful to watch. Every play is a grind. Watch the rest of the NFL. They can move the ball. If the Bears lose next week, you have to consider firing Nagy. 1-3 and a loss to Detroit pretty much would end the season.

I was late 70s, but I have to agree. Worst game plan, play calling I have ever seen first hand. Nagy needs to give up play calling or they need to fire him. Nothing has changed since he has arrived. The same offense that can't score. No one was open today, all routes ran right into defenders, zero misdirection, and no moving the pocket. The first screen pass was with 4 mins left in the game. Nagy needs to go.

I understand the thought behind getting the line straight first, but the QB is a big component of protections and timing. Jason Peters had an interview talking about how he has to play differently with a mobile QB vs a standard pocket passer. So even if the line is solid for Dalton, that doesn't mean they will be in sync with Fields, especially with the lack of experience with him. Another example would be compared to my time in the Army, as a young soldier, you had to learn a ton of very basic tasks and do them over and over. Eventually, you did team/group tasks that had you doing one piece of the entire puzzle. Regardless of how good you were, the minute those teams were changed, you were basically at square one again because you had to adapt to the new team member, their strengths and weaknesses, and the timing. This feels very similar. The team and Nagy did Fields no favors last week. He was not expected to play, which was obvious outside the few plays they built for him. The mistakes are all correctable. Burrows had a very similar INT with the LB dropping into coverage. The difference was Fields hot read was to that side, so that is on the play design as much as it was on Fields to recognize it. He almost lost a fumble, but didn't. So now he gets a learning point to hold the ball with two hands at all times. He is not going to get touched in practice, so that is the only way to learn that. If ARob doesn't look like Wims and Kmet is not called for OPI, Fields magically has decent stats. The false starts will be corrected. That is the timing issue with the 1s and Mustipher. He was expected the ball immediately, but Mustipher was on different timing. Again, very correctable. For the Scout Team, yes Fields plays against the #1 Defense, but in a different language. That would be like learning German in Spain, then being expected to speak fluent Spanish. From what I researched, all teams use different QBs to run the Scout Team. Some teams use PS QB to do it. Some only have 2 QBs on the roster, so the backup runs it. There are too many variables to have a QB learn every nuance of every play and coverage before playing. On any given play a team can bring an extra man from the corner, off the edge, inside the tackles, etc, and from any position. They can fake blitz, drop back into coverage, send the house, etc. There is not enough time to practice every combination of those. The only way to get better is with experience and game reps. I would rather have swings on the actual golf course than on the driving range. Now Fields gets both. There is a huge fallacy about sitting QBs is best for long-term success. The stats just don't back it up. Good QBs are good QBs because they are good. Peyton Manning was going to be good if he started game 1 or sat on the bench for 2 years. David Carr was not going to be a good QB, regardless of how good or bad his O-Line was. Mahomes would've won the SB his rookie year if they played him over Smith.
-
If Fields struggles, Nagy should be fired. He did not give Fields enough reps with the 1s in the offseason, then made him the scout QB, which had him running the other team's offenses the last two weeks. Hopefully, a week of prep will be enough, but right now he is weeks behind Lawrence, Jones, and Wilson in terms of experience since they have been running with the 1s for 2+ months now.

Cleveland is 3-3 in their last 6 games dating back to last year. The Bears are 4-2 with no QB. The Browns were no better than a Tyrod Taylor led no-name offense for a half of football. It feels like they are due for a correction. This also lines up perfectly for Fields, playing in a somewhat non-hostile crowd. Many will be cheering for him and he is a hard player not to like.
