  1. I'm in a union and in between calls this past week. I have been doing a deep dive on Caleb Williams, and he looks legit as a person and unbelievable as a QB Below is Caleb in structure in his "bad" ND game and another video of him throwing from mostly the pocket for 7 and a half minutes. His release is ridiculous and he is so accurate even when throwing across his body on one foot. I don't know if that will work or not, but that's Caleb's opinion on deep dish in Chicago. (video didnt show up in thread but can click on the caleb is gonna love it here part to go to that reddit thread and see it) I watched this. I was surprised by what these top athletes went through. I think it was in this one where he told his dad at 10 he wanted to be the best QB. He was waking up at 430 every day and at the gym by 530, working out and then would go to school. Then after school, back to the gym training.
  2. I'd like to see Kubiak get it. Get in early on our version of Shannahan. Then the Flus can go steal the best coach he knows from Indianapolis as D coordinator, and maintain play calling.
  3. https://www.bearstalk.com/2024/01/10/chicago-bears-shane-waldron-offensive-coordinator-interview-2024-offseason-nfl Surprised to someone took our old sies name, seems like a good one to interview.
  4. If he get's Caleb Williams, that was a hell of a Deal. He knows what he is looking at going into the draft. If he doesn't he messed up hard on Stroud and Williams. He failed with Stroud and Williams if he doesn't go that way. I was watching a thing earlier, someone asked Polian back in the day what it would take to get Manning after he got him. He said more than 10 1st rounders. Hitting on a QB covers up so many positions, and having one like Fields you have to invest into so many positions to cover him up.
  5. Finished it out. It was a fun watch. Amon-Ra asked some really good questions. Off the top of my head, he asked him about the passing game and the problem there, told him we needed a lot of work on offense. It felt like he was trying to push him to blame Fields. He didn't want to comment, EQ responded about the same backing up D.J.. To be fair, D.J. had brought up that people keep saying he said Getsy was a bad coach and he never said that. He was asked how he found out he got traded, and he said he had just bought a new house and was in his driveway when the panthers said he was traded for the number one pick. Poles called after and asked if he wanted to be a Bear. He was still trying to realize what just happened and didnt know how to respond. He was asked some where in there where he would root for the Panthers or Lions after he retired, he either mentioned this there or on the one before that it was just a different atmosphere here. Him and EQ talked commented a few times about the locker room and such being so good. I don't know who posted it, and not trying to get people to get likes, but I found them to be open a lot about stuff they could and just how they talk to each other. It was really a pretty interesting thing. D.J. didn't want to comment that Getsy had been fired, but Amon-Ra said he saw it confirmed on twitter.
  6. I'm only about 10 minutes into this, and it seemed pretty interesting so far. I figured I'd post the link in case any of you all got bored and wanted to watch it. Banter between Amon-Ra and D.J. has been good so far. D.J. was 5th in voting for the Pro Bowl. He said 5th alternate, but you can tell from there talking A.J. Brown is the guy above him. The Bears wouldn't tel;l him what alternate he was, but his agent did.
  7. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-head-coach-coaching-candidates-2024/6b38ac81d366251b96057335 Let's take this article per example. Ben Johnson: They should have lost to the Bears twice this year. Bienemy: Left Kansas to prove himself, they have the second pick in the draft this year. Mike MacDonald: He's D, and if we get a new coach it has to be O. Slowik: First year as an OC and Stroud may just be that guy. It's like hiring Getsy as the HC, because he worked with Rodgers. I'm sure he did a good job getting the best out of Stroud, but he certainly didn't "develop him in the preseason. Frank Smith: Impressive resume of who he has worked with. His current success is Mike McDaniel. Ejiro Evero: DC for the Panthers, need I say more. Dave Canales: First year OC for Tampa, was a QB coach the year before with Geno. I am not saying there are no good candidates out there, and that these won't turn out. Getsy's D staff being able to make noticeable progression in young D players, getting players to play hard all season, and overall statements from the players about the locker room are major factors to me. We don't have our Andy Reed in experience on O and as HC, no up and comer brilliant mind like Mike McDaniel, and no legacy NFL coach with years of experience as OC like Kyle Shanahan. I'm personally fine seeing what Flus can do for one more year, rather than gamble on the unknowns available. I'd be all in on Harbaugh.
  8. I'd personally like to see Flus stay. Defensively, we have see a lot of improvement from the young players on the team. He was able to keep the team together through adversity and the lockeroom is one with good vibes from all accounts. They need to get a coordinator and get the rest of that staff together. The complete opposite could be said of the offensive side of the ball. Clear it all out, and spend big on a OC with QB developmental experience and use him to bring in a good staff. There's 5 or 6 coaches fired every year for just being really crap. Given the talent and Getsy limitations, I can't say he is necessarily a bad HC. The team fought all year. The only way I would want him gone is if they had an backroom deal with Harbaugh's agent that he's committed to coming here. There could be a lot worse than Flus imho.

    Fields-O-Meter

Fields can not pass in structure. Any season he has a high ankle sprain, hammy or anything to the legs the season is over. He will be ineffective til he is healthy. Great guy, leader, arm and talent but he can’t read a defense before a play, during or anticipate.
  10. They could easily cut Whitehair and get a lot more cap space. As someone that was for drafting Young and trading Fields, I wanted them to build around Fields so that there are no excuses this year. I've been here through the Grossman vs. Orton. Cutler vs McCown. I'm tired of potential. I want to see someone actually just show you need me to be your QB, and Fields is still in a position to not be able to prove himself so far. It sounds like Whitehair will be moving back to Center, and this line even with a rookie or 2 OL, still not good. I want Fields to show he can be that guy this year, i'm just tired of excuses and the bears had the cap space and draft capital to remove excuses. Herbert and Foreman are no where near the threat in the run/pass game as Monty.
  11. Not a popular opinion, but I'm very unimpressed with Poles as a whole this offseason so far. The T.J. Edwards signing I really liked. They got great value in their first signing. Edmonds I feel was way overpaid. I'm not going to deny ignorance, but to be honest,. Nate Davis was good on a running offense, which is what the Bears already had, but can he pass block? Walker was on a 1 year prove it contract, and had one good year after how many in the league? I know he isn't paid well but PJ Walker as the back up QB? They had a chance for a franchise QB, we traded for the maybe 25 WR in the league and unknown picks. Our RB position just downgraded by a mile, and we have to face him twice a year for a reasonable price compared to Walker that probably won't start, and even if he does wouldn't on most teams. I was expecting more, if they really believed in Fields enough to trade out of the one., I thought they would make him prove it. I know it's early but the bad O line is the same. Everyone agreed he needed more blocking and better receivers to prove it. They added a low end WR1 if you consider 2's like Higgins and Waddle in the league I'd guess he'd be closer to 32-45 instead of top 16. RB is worse. Defense is just as horrible and probably still a downgrade over the start of last season with Roquan and Quinn.
  12. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bears are looking into Eckle(permission to seek a trade)r or Turnsil (rumored to be in trade negotiations with KC today). I'm not saying they will get either, but Poles knows he needs to improve the line and said we need playmakers on the team. The Bears have more draft capital now, and a lot of room to add either player.
  13. I'd side on disagreeing here. Daboll had a major effect on Allen. It turned out well for him, and he was able to repeat that success at the Giants with a QB they didn't want to offer a 5th year contract to, and just got generational rich today. Hurts was also able to develop in a solid environment with great coaches, weapons and line. My argument on fields, which I hope I am wrong being a Bears fan and Ohio guy isn't based on time, his ability or his qualities. I think he was an excellent prospect coming out of the draft, and very talented in many way which he could grow. Instead of that being nurtured like hurts or allen, he was instead stunted and hampered by his talent around him and coaching. Nagy was a year of learning nothing positive. This year, the coaching staff had him running an NFL offense. After the bye, they were like just run and make the game fun. I honestly feel that Fields has had 2 regressive years of learning compared to Hurts and Allen learning the position. I'm not saying Fields has not improved, just had time learning things he shouldn't to get by, by compensating for poor coaching and talent around him. While Allen and Hurts were learning a craft from professionals, Fields was watching youtube videos and trying to figure out things himself, while losing touch with abilities that got him drafted in the first place. Edit: That's why I compared him to Carr and Couch, because I see them victims of being a QB on a expansion franchise, because that's basically what the Bears have turned to team into talent wise.
  14. I would have took Young and tried to trade Fields 100%. It's not about winning. It's the same reason I wouldn't want to touch Lamar. Young has everything Fields needs to improve in. I honestly think that's what you need to be a long term successful QB. Fields hasn't shown he has the pocket presence, ability to read a defense, or calmness needed to succeed in the NFL. The situation he's been put in and how he is learning in the NFL reminds me of David Carr or Tim Couch. He's learning a bunch of wrong things due to the line being bad and the receivers. He's stuck trying to play like Lamar running, which has ended with Jackson not being able to finish the season the last two season. Once those legs go, you have to depend on being a pocket passer, which Fields has been regressing or at the least been stagnant at the NFL level, and what Young brings to the table to start. Facts are facts tho, and they are staying with Fields. That's why I hope they trade down to the Jaxon Smith Njigba range, and get the top WR in the draft and someone he already has had success with. There are solid options in FA to upgrade Tackle in free agency, which I think is the top priority this year to get him progress and save what potential Fields had.
