January 7, 201511 yr comment_142143 An unusual rumor that New England wants Shaq Thompson and may try to trade up had me thinking of a swap. #1-7=1500, for #1-31=600, next years 1st= 500, #2-62=296, #3-94=116 1-31 = Benardrick McKinney MLB 2-39 =Todd Gurley RB 2-63=Hronis Grasu C 3-71=Durrell Eskridge FS 3-95=Jake Fisher OT 4-103=Quinton Rollins CB 5-Denver 6-WR Report

January 7, 201511 yr comment_142146 No way am I trading down that far in the draft. NE's 1st round pick next year is still probably going to be in the 28-32 range. On a related note, though, If the Bears decided to draft Melvin Gordon in the 1st round this year, I wouldn't be mad. Matt Forte is at the age now where his production could fall off at any moment. Gordon, IMO, is in the Adrian Peterson "rare" RB type that would warrant a top 10 selection. Gordon is also arguably the best player in the draft. Report
January 7, 201511 yr comment_142147 I don't mind the trade down, especially if it parlays picks, but I can't see NE giving up that much to move up to #7. Also, it would be hard for me to pick an RB in the 2nd round when we have Forte, especially one who has never played since an ACL injury. We just have too many holes on defense that we almost have to go defense, defense the first two picks. I like McKinney, Grasu, and Fisher. Report
January 7, 201511 yr comment_142149 Not only the fact that we have Forte, but I for one liked what I saw from Carey and wanna see him get an expanded role before we start to think about drafting a guy to play ahead of him. Report

Get rid of Forte and draft the next guy. I like what the Bengals did with Bernard and Hill. Report

Also not waiting that long to get another corner either Forte is not an in between the tackles RB. Carey is, but can he be an NFL every down back. If the Bears are to succeed, they will have to run 25+/game. I would prefer Gordan, but I think he goes 15-20 and Gurley can take his time healing. Fortes contract is up after next season also. If they can get extra picks, throwing deep or swinging for the fence on a offensive playmaker is a bonus. Report
January 7, 201511 yr comment_142152 I absolutely think Carey can be an every down back. Dude led the FBS in rushing in 2012, and if not for some disciplinary problems he very well could have done it again in 2013. Said off the field issues is what dropped him in the draft, if that's behind him, he can be a damn good RB. Report

I wont object to any ELITE football player they draft at 7, its going to take 2 to 3 years to get us ready for a playoff run. The short term just doesnt matter, WE WILL NOT BE RELEVANT in 2015 Report
January 7, 201511 yr comment_142156 From the little time he saw what did he do that impressed you? Well in extremely limited caries he averaged 4.4 ypc...Forte for his career is averaging 4.2. He's not a burner or anything, but neither is Forte. I see a very "technical" runner. I just think you're giving up on someone you've never even given a real chance....I know Forte is a workhorse, but I really hope Carey get a good share of the carries. Report

Comparing his ypc of 36 attempts to Forte's Ypc on 1,817 attempts is absurd. I'm not for giving up on Carey. I really wanted to know what he did to impress you. I thought he was a beast at AZ. Report
January 7, 201511 yr comment_142158 Trade down that far? No. Draft a RB? Hell no. There are four, maybe five, positions on this team where the Bears are presently good: RB, OG, WR, TE (maybe QB). All other positions need help in some way. No way we should be drafting one of those positions unless it's a once a lifetime kind of guy like Bo Jackson or Peyton Manning. This is not a particularly strong draft, and Jameis Winston isn't lasting until 7 - much less to the end of the first - so the Bears should look for value at positions of need...which are plentiful. Report
January 7, 201511 yr comment_142163 Draft a RB in an area that is likely a strength when we have some many holes. Why not pick at 7 for an elite player or trade down to about 10 to 12 and then move up from our 2nd to get back into the 1st and take the MLB. Report
