Kevin White has a stress fracture..

Say bye bye to him doing anything this year.. Not a good start for Ryan Pace and his rookie class.

I knew something was up the moment camp started. Shin splints do not take this long to heal. The Bears did a terrible job of handling this, too, btw. Day to day my ass.

Fire Pace! Just kidding, their was nothing on this at the time of the draft. Could be season ending, might have him second half?

He was interviewed just a moment ago and said it's possible he misses entire season. He'll begin the season on the Pup list and miss at least the first 6 games. Regardless, his season is over either way.

Pace says a rod will be inserted into White's tibia for stabilization.

Josina Anderson - The fact White is also having a rod inserted into his tibia is illuminating when there are non-surgical options. Indicates degree of injury.

Christ.. This is definitely trending towards bust territory. I wanted Amari Cooper so bad..

Crazy stuff. I'm curious as to why he needs a rod. More to come...

Been listening to the score. I agree the season is over for him also. Next man up.

Chicago is were first round draft picks come to die.

I have to wonder if the rod will help more long term vs the non surgical options.

Bears aren't going anywhere this year, so if the rod will help keep this from flaring up in the future it would make sense to get it out of the way now.

I told you guys I wasn't thrilled with the pick more than once. I just didn't like him a lot. I was/am all aboard the bandwagon, hope he rebounds with a fury, but I just had a bad feeling. I obviously didn't predict this, but wish we didn't trade away a pro-bowler for the uncertainty of a rookie (who ends up with a leg fracture).

Lol at the "Told you so", "Bust", and "Bad start for Pace" comments.

How is this not a bad start for Pace? The #7 overall pick is out for the year. That's the definition of a bad start.

I would have preferred defense first at draft time. I will take Goldman/White over Danny Shelton DT and a Second RD WR though since BM had to go. Unfortunately White injured the tibia, which wasn't known. Just pure bad luck.

In good news, it finally sounds like former first rounder Shea McClellin is shining. Silver lining found for me for the moment. I know he has drawn a lot of hate, but it is possible he found a place to excel his skills.

Also, Adrian Amos moves into starting FS. Vereen couldn't hold down the spot. Wonder how long until we hear more on Mundy?

I don't really fault Pace for drafting White, but this is a results business. He needed to hit on almost all of these early picks for consecutive years to get the Bears back to playoff contention. Him being out for the year also sets the team back another year in the rebuilding process, which is not fun to think about. What's even worse is if he ends up sucking when he eventually does come back.

So Dante Fowler was a bad pick with a torn ACL? You can't knock Pace for this unless he was aware of these issues and still drafted White there.

I'm not arguing whether he should have been the pick, I'm simply stating a fact that him being out for the year IS indeed a bad start for the new GM of the Bears. See my post above.

Maybe I'm just looking at it the wrong way. I'm looking at it like you're saying its a bad pick. It's just a tough break.

Fowler is out for the season, and Landon Collins got a knee injury yesterday. These things happen. It was't a bad move whatsoever and I guess that how I'm taking those comments.

Fair enough. It is a tough break, both figuratively and literally. I think the chances of him being a bust is definitely a lot higher now, though. He wasn't the most polished player coming out of the draft either. Anytime I hear metal plate/rod, I immediately think of the worst.

No worries, we just signed Jeremy Kelley, WR, 6-6, 231. Cameron Meredith also looked pretty good, he might stick.

Otherwise, do we go after someone like Reggie Wayne or James Jones?

We'll never get details but this might be a spiral fracture as those take a lot longer to heal, especially with the stresses of playing a position like WR. I don't think it's the end of the road for White as this clearly was never a displaced fracture (i.e. fully broken) it should heal naturally with time. Inserting a plate or rod to stabilize it should improve the long term recovery prognosis.

Someone said it was handled poorly by the Bears. How? Just because they don't include us on the details of the injury doesn't mean they gave him poor treatment. Unless you are advocating they should have done the surgery 6 weeks ago but that would have definitely put him on a longer recovery time frame. The team clearly wanted to give it a chance to heal on it's own in 6 weeks and hoped he'd be ready for the regular season. Then they slowly ramped up his physical activities to allow the muscles to rebuild and strengthen around the lower leg.

It's just bad luck for this to happen but I don't put this in the same category as a GM missing on Jadeveon Clowney's bad knee that needed micro fracture surgery.

Wayne would be a smart signing. 1 year minimum deal.

Don't know that White will be a bust, it's not like he has an injury history. Like when they drafted former 1st round OLmen Gabe Carimi and Chris Williams and we all learned Williams had a history of back problems...after he couldn't start his rookie season. Anyhow I don't fault Pace for this. Just real unfortunate. If history repeats itself or the rest of this years rookie class goes bad then maybe I'll have more doubt.

I hated seeing them drafting a WR before they had their QB of the future. WR's have a shorter career than QB's and a lot hit their peak and only stay at it for a few years. I would have rather waited, instead of getting a WR that my have 3-4 good years left, when the Bears finally get a good QB and it will matter.

Plus, I thought he would be a bust, but I didn't think it would be an injury one. Hopefully he will get better and prove me wrong.

Agreed. I'm not surprised. I was expecting the worst. But anyone thinking "bust" at this point is extremely pre-mature.

Let's prepare to have this kid available next season. Next man up.

Damn, not like we were competing for SB this year but damn.
