May 19, 20169 yr comment_158532 I saw that. I wonder what his value is? He had 6.5 sacks last year which explains why we want him to return. Yet he is more valuable to a 4-3 defense. Either way, I hope we are spending some of the 25 million we have available in cap space. Report
May 19, 20169 yr comment_158533 Willie's a great guy, the type of player you love to fill out the middle of the roster with. We're in a 4-3 alignment half of the time so he has value IMO. Last year I think he had a lot of reservations early on with the transition to the new scheme but if he's happy playing for Fox and Fangio, and thus more wiling to mold to the scheme, then I'm happy to see him stay a couple more years. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0519-story.html Report

May 19, 20169 yr comment_158535 If this is true, Houston is all but gone. With McPhee at $7.6, Houston at $6.9, Trevathan at $6.3, Freeman at $4.0, and Willie at $3.16, if Willie is bumped to $5, that would equate to $30mil against the cap for those 5x LBs, not counting Floyd. That seems like a lot. I know we have to spend it somewhere, but comparing the salaries, Houston's is the one that is not equal to the performance/potential. There would be a $4mil cap savings to cut him. It may not happen this season, but I can see it happening after next season with less dead money. Report

Houston will be cut before his last year for sure, and likely sometime after this season. Report

I don't really see the need to cut Houston. Houston to me is gonna be in on running downs. I could see Willie in sub packages with he and Floyd on the edges and Mcphee playing inside. Report
May 22, 20169 yr comment_158542 NASCAR group: Young, Bullard, McPhee, Floyd ? You are also forgetting our two new speed inside backer coming on blitzes too. Speed kills!!! Report

May 22, 20169 yr comment_158545 What about Goldman? Gotta think he and Bullard rate out similarly? I think Bullard is quite bit quicker off the snap. It would be nice to see either Sutton or Washington step up into this role as well so we have some depth but that might be wishful thinking. Report
