Loggains has to go and there in lies your problem. No offensive coordinator is going to come here to work for a lame-duck head coach.

You're better off to clean house now.

My opinion, for what it is worth, hire Fangio as HC.

I like the way our defense is progressing and I wouldn't be surprised to see him offered a HC gig somewhere in 2018, and if we change HC the new HC would probably want his own DC.

By hiring Fangio as HC (I know many wanted an offensive guru as HC) we retain some continuity. He has enough of a solid rep around the league I have to believe he could attract a good group of coaches to come in and get this team straightened out.

Of all the ‘replace Fox’ ideas so far I prefer this the most. Although I am partial to Harbaugh.

That being said I have to ask why, of those who want an ‘offensive minded’ coach, do you think that would work? Just off the top of my head I have a hard time thinking of any successful offensive oriented HC in Chicago, especially in recent history. Those that have been successful are more defensive inclined. And although I’m not sure what Ditka’s leanings were, there’s little doubt Buddy Ryan’s Defense won us ‘85.

Ditka was the special teams coach in Dallas before coming to Chicago.

So Dave Toub it is then? Lol

Maybe hire Fangio as HC, keep Donatell as DC and hire Toub as OC? I think with Toub’s innovative ideas he might be exactly what Trubisky needs(?)

My thoughts exactly. I'm tired of Fox and Logains hindering this team. Fangio has been the bright spot of this coaching staff and it shows on the field with our D showing major improvement in his time here. He has HC aspirations. Offer him HC position, can fox and the rest of the staff. Let Fangio bring in a likeminded DC to maintain the progress and continuity in his system. Then bring in a real NFL offensive Coordinator. I think if we make him HC and with it a respectable contract of decent length it would make his job filling out a staff easier. Vic is well respected in the coaching community.

Here is a name for you...Mike McCarthy. I'm not saying Packers are going to get rid of him, but I think their fans had grown a bit impatient with their inability to get back to the big game. They could struggle with Hundley and decide that this is the right time to make a change.

If that happened, I'd be all over Mike. He's a very good QB coach / bright offensive mind. I think the reality is, Hundley will show enough growth that the Packers won't let McCarthy go, but I wouldn't' be shocked (and he really did do a lot of great things to help develop Rodgers).

Good coach, cant stand the smug prick. Only wonder how good of a Coach he is without Rodgers.

End of the Lovie era all over again.....Martz....tice...... puke...... I agree if you get rid of Loggains then you clean house.....hopefully you figure out a way to keep Fangio,

1. Gruden - He's been gone too long - no

2. Harbaugh - He will implode in 3 to 4 years - no

3. McDaniels - I was interested in him until I found he will want his own GM (like Belichick) which would mean we are staring over from scratch - no.

Peace :dabears

1. Not that I want Gruden but I thought he said he wanted to get back to coaching but it had to be the right fit. Bears seem like right fit...... Young QB, strong D, only a couple of glaring wholes, great market, founding team...

2. No thanks.....

3. McDaniels...... hated him at Denver but he was a young cocky coach.... now..... could be a better time to bring him on

Has Toub ever been an OC or coach anything on offense?

Toub has zero Offensive coaching experience.... hiring him as an OC seams like a reach if you ask me.

I know it sounds cliche, but I want one of the following:

3. McDaniels-He learned under the best all time, and would help Trubisky immensely.

THAT mcdaniels from the pats??

it didn't register at the time.

here is my HELL NO vote!!

this guy is arrogant, a freaking liar and to top it all off.... a cheating THIEF!! why in the hell would we want him?

he should have been banned from the NFL just for being criminally stupid.

i say we stay with what we have for another year. have pace and fox think about an OC upgrade in the offseason.

That's my thought too. Just throwing that out there for those that are adamant about getting rid of Loggains

He’s interviewed for a handful of HC positions, to include the Bears. Why not OC? He’s been in the league since 2001 and coaching since 1986. If he doesn’t work out as OC and someone like Fangio is HC, you simply send him packing wirh minimal disruption. As you may have seen Connor point out, before HC of the Bears, Mike Ditka was a ST coordinator for Dallas. As was John Harbaugh the ST coordinator for the Eagles before being hired by the Ravens.

What offensive coach in their right mind is going to come in and work with a lame duck head coach? Unless you are going to extend Fox, which you shouldn't, you are going to have to replace the coaching staff.

first of all fox isn't a lame duck coach yet. if he turns it around he stays no question. if an OC has aspirations for a HC job he has an ear for that position IF chicago dumps fox.

IF an OC comes in and turns this offense around he looks like a genius and can call his own shots anywhere.

HC yes, OC no.

God help us with another lost year then...

Fangio is leaving. Only way he stays is as HC.

Just one of many reasons to send Fox away...

Why? He’s interviewed for a few HC positions already (to include Chicago) and not gotten any further than where he currently is. Perhaps it’s a combination of the stigma of ST coaches don’t generally end up HCs or his not progressing to a role like OC or DC.

Ditka, Cowher and Harbaugh are all Superbowl winning HC's that were ST guys...

Okay.... but that still doesn’t explain why Toub hasn’t become an HC thus far, despite being interviewed several times for the position. My thought; make him an OC (a step up from ST coordinator right?) to polish his resume.

You don't hire a heart specialist to perform brain surgery. You hire a brain surgeon. However, either of those 2 doctors can become the lead doctor in the hospital...
