Week 9 Official Game Thread - Bears at Saints (Sweat Revenge)

Outside of the INT, the offense has looked good.

The defense is playing too soft again on passing plays. Almost every completion is a slant or the seam, they have to tighten that up. Only allowed 33 yards rushing, but 137 passing.

No penalties called on the Saints.

Sweat finally has some impact. Good to see. We need a lot from him for all that $.

Fun stat from the TV broadcast. Bears are -37 points in the 3rd quarter, worst in the league. That means getting your butt kicked on halftime adjustments. Thats on the coaching.

There have been some mistakes, but overall, the offense seems to keep making positive plays. Making first downs, and avoiding 2nd and 3rd and long.

I want to see Fields play out so I can give him the last chance to take the QB job, but if I had to win a single game right now, Id start Bagent.

Ha i spoke too soon. 2nd and long - and then just as I am typing this... Foreman with the big run!

I’m officially a Foreman-man.  Love his style of running.

me too - I thought he'd be the starter after the preseason, was surprised they went with Herbert.

I just home from a granddaughter thing, without knowing anything, ties 17-17 looks good,

youll be mostly happy with Bagent, hes played very well.

If he keeps this up , they may bring him back. Herbert has had injuries the last 2 yrs

FWIW:

Mack’s 2018 deal involved a six year $135 million ($22.5 million / year) contract and a 1st and 6th year pick for 2019 and a 1st and 3rd round pick for 2020.

Sweat’s deal was 4 years for $105 million ($26.25 million / year) and a 2024 2nd round pick…and that is all.

I agree, they signed him at the value of about the 10th or 12th best DE, given that they all dont get resigned in the same year.

Still, I wanna see him feasting.

Agreed.  I thought at least Ngoukue would benefit with the addition of Sweat but I literally forgot he was on the team until they mentioned his name late in the first half.  Aside from that…where is he?  ??‍♂️

Velus Jones sucks. He is a liability. Cut him immediately.

I keep noticing Sanborn on the field.

Hes a great player, and maybe a step too slow to be a top MLB. A Hunter Hillenmeyer / Nick Kwiatkowski type. Great in zone, good tackler, a step late on drag routes in man.

But hes definitely a Rudy player with a huge heart - a good WLB, who comes off the field in nickel.

Kmet having maybe his best game. For all his experience, people dont realize hes still only 24 years old, and still improving.

So Bagent's arm strength may be coming into these INTs. I LOVE the way he processes and gets rid of the ball fast, but he may not have quite the velocity to thread those small windows.

WRs can help by fighting back to the ball, but I think now we know why a guy who is so talented went undrafted. Maybe he can build arm strength in the weight room.

Ball location IS something he can fix quickly tho.

The Bagent legend has taken a hit.

Yeah he’s starting to look every bit the Rookie UDFA.  But…still like his moxie.

I’d think the one pass to Kmet was a short duck but the other two were behind the receiver.  Especially the one to Scott.
