I guess we know what Johnson thinks of Kmet. I see OT and HB as being our biggest holes, but if you dont believe in Kmet, then TE would be pretty important too.

Watch Kmet get traded lol.

Yep. And it’s a dumb move. Kmet was a third option at best all year. How is he supposed to succeed? Especially when other plays had Williams running for his life?

Not a huge fan at 10, but understand with Banks gone.

Bears got WR#3/TE1. He replaces Keenan Allen.  Now trade up for Conerly or take Ersery and Henderson/Johnson

agree.

Starks goes to the Ravens - they have a history of great safeties and they just got another one.

He'd have been a great pick for us on a big trade back but Loveland is at least better value at 10.

he was one of the guys I was always taking in the 2nd round, of course he wasnt gonna last that long. Funy thing is I often had Coleston Loveleand there too. In the 2nd. Draft simulators are funny LOL

So now, the 2nd round picks are OT and D Line.

The problem with rankings and mock drafts,  the NFL teams doesn't make their big board up by what fans think. They do a years research to make picks. Johnson clearly wanted Loveland and I'm glad some smart people agreed. It makes the pick look better but in the end , it's what happens when the games are played.

The problem is Ryan Poles has not put a winning product on the football field.    Technically neither have I.  Until he changes that there is no data to prove he’s any better than the virtual fantasy  GMs here on this board.

100% concur. So many Bears fans have been saying “trust the process” or “trust the experts,” or mocking everyone else as armchair GMs for literal decades, all while the actual Bears GMs have continually shit the bed.

We can never know what would have happened if we made the picks, if the players would have coalesced into a winning team, or if certain combinations would have produced results. But what we DO know is that the Bears’ GMs have unequivocally failed for all but a handful of years since the mid-80s.

With new coaches in place, we now get to see if things are different. It's about this season, if we keep living in the past, we will never feel good about anything. I don't have a choice, I hate living with no hope.

I predict this will be the last year the Bears pick at 10 or even under 20 going forward.  The Bears have a shot to fill some premium positions (LT, DE, DT) with 3 picks in the top 42 slots that they may not have the opportunity to do this again for many years.  They could possibly even have a shot to draft the best RB to come around in 7 years (Barkley).  When the Bears are on the clock, I really want to see how they think if Banks, Graham, & Mykel Williams, are available.  Then Poles will throw a knuckle ball and strike us all out selecting someone non of us projected.

The only ones available the Bears could have taken was Mykel Williams.  Poles threw a knuckle as predicted and took Loveland.

I have questions as to whether Poles got played in the later rounds, or if he was on plan. I cant possibly know which of course. But I think the more i read and watching the film of Johnson, that Loveland was THE pick the whole time.

Of course i was looking at LT, but it feels like the Bears were on Loveland the whole time. So we got what we wanted in round 1. After that, we got value, but i doubt we ended up where we thought we would at all. Burden was probably a surprise and that threw the timing of other projected picks off.

It feels like we played the board and maximized value, but we also missed on guy that I at least thought we would want.

But no matter what it was, I feel now like Loveland was always the pick, and Johnson is going to show us why.

Totally agree with all that. We don't know if they would have taken Banks but he wasn't available. Loveland was there plan. A draft is it's own creation. Nothing ever goes as planned.

for sure we can never know, but based on Johnson's body language I now believe that Loveland was our choice the whole time. I could be wrong of course.

And it's the difference between what i was saying; what the Bears SHOULD do, and what you were saying: what the Bears WILL do. And in this case we could both be right. i think Banks was a great player, and you thought we wouldnt take him, and both happened to be proved out.

I know there were some discussions about Warren vs Loveland, but one other factor that sometimes doesn't get enough attention is age. Loveland is two years younger than Warren.

Yup!  Good catch.  Less mileage.  Faster, taller and better in and out of cuts.  Lastly, better RAC.  I'll give Warren the size and physicality.

Yeah, I was saying Loveland was better than Warren all offseason after watching them both. I didnt think we would pick either one, but Warren is not the threat that Loveland is. Warren is more like Kmet in style, while Loveland is like more like a big WR.
