Did the defense play well, of course not but I think the defense did their part to keep us in the game. The defense has gotten people back but not one of them have played well. JJ isn't himself. Edmunds was playing at all pro level before the injury, now he is a liability. Tj Edwards has been ok but not at the same level from before. I think we were doing better when backups were playing. Gardner-Johnson is not good at the NB spot. He had some big plays since coming here but speed at the slot kills him. Stevenson didn't play a snap last game. The defense is a mess but have played descent in the red zone and with TOs. That's the best we're going to get , it can't be fixed until next year. Gordon is coming back but I don't expect a lot out of him. We are going to win or lose with our offense. Our expectations have been raised because of our cardiac finishes but can that work in the playoffs? I think we can win any game but will not dominate any games. We need to appreciate our 11-6 record, division win and 2 nd conference rankings but we aren't ready for a SB run just yet. The bold above, I vehemently disagree with. Edmunds has never played at an all pro level. He just happened to be at the right place at the right time. He's never made a play that makes him look special. He may be the best five yard gain tackler I've ever seen. Everything else is spot on, IMO.

The offense could have counted the Lions TOP with one of their own. Didn't happen. Defense did NOT lose the game. Team effort...

Pro bowl level may have been a reach ( many Bear pundits was saying that) but he was playing well.

This is Chicago we know what a great LB looks like on the field.
Stinger226 Posted yesterday at 04:25 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 04:25 AM Just listened to lance Briggs on CHGO. He actually said if a LB has 70 touches, he should have 20 combo tackles. His best year was 2006 where he averaged 8 tackles a game.
BearFan PHX Posted yesterday at 06:43 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 06:43 AM Edmunds is often out of position in coverage, and offensive coordinators have been attacking him personally for the past month. He is a physical specimen, but he is not a good LB. I thought when they moved him to WLB that would help, and it seemed to for a minute, but the guy never gets his drop right, and they complete a ton of balls on him. hes not playing well, and hes sure not playing $16M well. The unit looks better with Demarco Jackson out there honestly.

Switching to the Will seemed to make him more useful. However, for how big and fast he is, he doesn't make enough plays at or behind the LOS. Pixote
Well, I predicted last year that Cunningham would leave us for another team as their GM, and I was proved wrong. Now I see teams are already requesting interviews with him. I trust Poles has a replacement for him. Will Poles finally figure out how to hit gold in the 3rd round with the two extra 3rd rounders we will receive as compensation? Here is a small quote from SI.com: Quote The Atlanta Falcons have requested to speak with Chicago Bears assistant general manager Ian Cunningham for their vacant general manager position. Stinger226
Poles listened to Cunninghams advice. Seems to be a smart guy but he now has a new voice in his ear, BJ. Good luck to Ian but it should have little effect going forward. Poles may have had one of the best drafts ever last year. Still has some room to look better. A lot of pundits didn't like the first two picks with other holes to fill but both has special written all over them. BJ plays a two back system but I think Monangai would be a 1200 yard back if given 250 carries a year. If Ian leaves we will have 4 top 100 draft picks, a 4 th and 5th, 2 7ths. . Another good draft and we could have extended success with Caleb and BJ.

Here is a small quote from SI.com: you werent wrong - it was a smart prediction. none of us has an actual crystal ball, so a prediction like this is just a good bet, and I think you were right last year, it was a good bet. and it could happen for him this year, but sooner or later that guy is getting a GM job, and I think he's been offered a few already. so if you were off about your bet, it was just that he wouldnt take the arizona job, not that he didnt have the opportunity. Those two and I think you see Mike McCarthy get a gig too. I also suspect Flores and Packers DCs get hired as well.
