I looked at his contract that the first  year starts in 26 and he has 44 mil guaranteed. So that is his cost not just his 16 mil in 26. Point is an aging WR, known for being a quitter isn't going to be easy to find a trade partner for. Rebuilding teams will look to the draft, most good teams already have an expensive weapon they're paying.

Okay trade him but to who and for what?

probably a third rounder and to get him off of our books so we have $16M more in cap room to spend on the defense.

I’d take that.

X2.  16 Mil for the D, plus a pick.

Cut Edmunds to get money and get better without another transaction.(Sarcasm for the sensitive)

Just trading DJ and Edmunds alone would increase our cap by $31M

If you trade sweat, thats another $17M of cap space and another 3rd round pick.

If you trade Jaylon Johnson, thats another $6.5M and probably at least a 2nd round pick.

We'd get another $10M each if we could trade Dayo and/or Garrett, but i dont imagine we would have any takers, and the benefit of cutting them is much smaller.

Kmet would get us another $8M, but i feel like he might just be a little overpriced. If they want to keep him, that works too. I think hes a little expensive, hes been a decent TE2, and usually those dont get paid $11.6M. It could go either way. If you could get a 2nd rounder for him, i think you do it.

So you can trade DJ, Edmunds, Sweat and JJ for $54.5M in cap space and a 2nd, two 3rds and a 4th.

I would do all of that, pick up a big name edge rusher like Crosby or Garrett, and draft DL. Add in Booker, Shemar Turner and Dexter at nose, and you might have the makings of a plan.

We would need help at 3T, LB, CB and S but we'd have room and picks for that.

It's a bold move, cleaning house like that, but I think thats exactly the kind of thing Johnson will want to do.

That is probably what he would bring back, a 3rd rounder. Find a trading partner.

In the past we were always rebuilding the team at this time because we were losers, that is gone now. The bear's are now a playoff contender and I don't think it's rebuild mode but tweek time. I don't see them doing several major moves. One big surprise and I think we all see Edmunds gone.

Its time to rebuild the defense. Last year the plan was clearly to stock the offense and get it going. Dont be shocked if there are wholesale changes to this defense. We are slow and built for Cover 2, and we have no pass rush.

We will look a lot different next year.

Last year at this time you said two new starters on the OL (I said four). You were saying how Tevin Jenkins and Braxton Jones would play better. By now, everyone knows your loyalty to players on the roster.

But the guys who arent Ben Johnson guys, not Dennis Allens guys, the ones that got drafted under Eberflus are all under the microscope. And i think there is gonna be a lot more roster turnover than people expect.

I threw that out there but I never thought they would sign the big 3 in the OL that doesn't mean I wasn't elated over those players.

You wanted a 1st round LT and I had no problem with Ozzy in the second. You didn't like that pick at the time.

The problem between last year and this year is we have no money. They will overhaul it but they have to sign Ss and another LB ( maybe D Jackson) before they add the needed DL..  They will restructure some contracts and cut Edmunds (?) , then maybe trade some players if needed.

Poles did the drafting not Flus but will get BJ what he needs. BJ is the dominate football guy in the room but it's not a dictatorship.

We might have different opinions on who they want but I trust BJs perspective to get the right players.

As much need as the DL has , I think LT is on the table for the first pick. No Free agents of value out there. I think DT is a bigger need that edge. We have Booker, Sweat, Dayo and Turner. We only have 2 DTs in the roster. In DJ's scheme the pressure up the middle puts the DEs in better position because the QB has to bail from the pocket.

there are many ways to create cap space.

I predict a good amount of turnover on the Defense.
