I posted a TTNL video with "Cars" (who is damned smart about the cap) and he showed where with simple restructruing we could create $64M in cap room, and obviously, your source says even more. So we know it's possible.

I think the entire defense is getting overhauled. And I wont be shocked to see Trey Hendrickson in blue and orange next year.

I don’t want another old expensive player on the Dline.  We can spend judiciously and improve all three levels of the defense and then add more in the draft.

After bringing in Jarrett an older good pro, I think Poles will have second thoughts going that route. Also a young up and comer Dayo, all these moves say is ( overpay). I think the draft is the key and then if we need something else a one year deal with an older pro. Clowney, Fowler, Floyd, Bosa.

Agree on the defense overhaul.  But think the targeted guy (if they go that route) is Maxx.

Id rather have Crosby too, but I think that while the cap cost will be similar, the trade cost will be too much for us.

But thats just a guess.

My problem is Maxx just had his 8th knee surgery this season. It pauses me to wonder when it will slow him down. Sweat and Crosby both had 10 sacks this year. 

He has missed 7 games the last two years. I prefer someone more healthy.

That is a very legit concern.   

In Bears news, Theo Benedet signed a 1 year extension.  At least the Bears have one guy to help hold the LT spot.

hopefully he can put on some lower body strength in the offseason and handle the bull rushes next year. he had a good season for coming in out of nowhere.

I would love him to improve enough to hold the spot down but I still think they add a assert to compete for the starter spot. The big question is does Kiran have anything going into his 3 Rd year? Stranger things have happened.

if there were no other concerns, Id LOVE to take a LT high. But we're probably talking about a 3rd rounder at best in the draft, and they probably arent going to be better than Benedet. I can see us signing a mid tier free agent maybe, but that costs cap space too.

And if we do add another LT by any of these means, I think that means Amagadje is gone.

I'll bet the plan is Benedet until Ozzie is ready, with Amagadje, a mid tier free agent, and/or a 3rd round or lower pick competing with him in camp. And Benedet probably wins that, depending on who the free agent is.

I thin Benedet did OK this year, and if he can put on some muscle in his base, he should be even better?

From the breakdowns I watched his issue is not strength it’s technique.  He has quick feet but he’s not good at keeping them on the ground.  You can find still photos of him blocking where he literally has both feet up in the air at the same time   Yes that means he often hops or takes little jumps left or right when he gets caught out of position.  If he works on that this off-season he could be good.  I don’t think he has the arm length to be great.  Of course that also might be why he feels he’s losing the edge and tries to move fast to get back in front.

interesting. thats good news then. another offseason with Roushar should help a lot.

Id be happy with Ozzys teammate who is a rd 2-3 prospect. He played LT at BC, while Ozzy played RT.

I don't disagree with you. Players like Demarco Jackson has been in the league since 2022 and played well this year. I think some players take longer to develop. Kiran is the perfect trait LT but injuries has hampered his career. If he can stay healthy, we get to see if he has anything to offer.

He has 36 1/8 inch arms. Arm length isn't his problem. It's learning fundamentals for a pro LT.

That arm length is a rumor that someone put out there.  I researched it to death a couple of months ago and couldn't find anything reputable.  Most say he's in the 33 to 34 range.

All I can find is 32-1/8 arms searching for his draft profiles.

You may be right, I thought I saw that in a couple of sources but they could have just been fedding off each other. Totally understand the rumor thing, I see people saying we're getting Crosby, Garrett, Hendrickson like it's a fact. Hard to find actual facts anymore on the internet and now we are being introduced to AI, it's going to be the wild wild west out there.

I get it.  My best friend lives in Germany and he can't get good sports news.

Yes, and also no one knows right now anyway.

Let's say, for example, that the Bears want to trade for Crosby. They have a price in mind, and so do the Raiders. Maybe they want too much, maybe another team is outbidding what were willing to pay.

So its not just that there is bad info out there, it's that even the main people themselves, like poles, dont know what will happen at this point in the year?

The best we can do is guess. And my guess is that we are more likely to end up with Hendrickson, since he's a free agent, than Crosby or Garrett who we would have to trade for.

But is there a cheaper DE free agent that our scouts think is about to take a major step? I dunno.

So at this point in the year there are only logical guesses. In a month we will hear actual rumors that still arent for sure, but we might hear where the activity is. But right now? It's an information wasteland.
