Week 6 Official Game Thread - CHI @ ATL

Wow! Caleb is apparently the elixir everyone needed. The defense, the offense and Ben. Everyone is fired up! The energy reminds me of the Eagles game.

Glad to see the energy back. Why and how is the team so different from last week to this. Need Caleb to stay healthy from here on out

Honestly I think you might’ve seen it with Case in there last week - earlier in that game. But yes, having Caleb back makes a difference.

Everything going bears way…except penalties. 11 for 118 so far and at the beginning of the 4th. Any other day and you’re losing. Can’t do that against teams playing well.

pS: Jahdae Walker having a REALLY bad day today. Add 15 more yards.

Thank God Gordon is back in action today.

Dennis Allens ennvison of Kyler came to reality today.

Bad taste in my mouth after such a sweet start.

Yeah, for sure. Penalties then throttled back a little prematurely. But I have 20/20 hindsight on that part.

Another crazy game, but man the officials are terrible. Dotson can push off but Loveland can't extend his arm?

Caleb and Kyler wow.

Caleb, the best Comp% for a Bears QB with over 30+ attempts, ever, 8.5 YPA with over 300 yards passing. Only 6 incompletions with several throw-aways. You could tell he is not 100%, 4 rushes for 3 yards and took 4 sacks. Hopefully he can keep healing and didn't aggravate anything. Amazing efficiency and exactly what we have been asking for.

Kyler, wow, what a return. 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 3 TFL on ONLY 16 snaps? Insane. Exactly what the defense needed.

Outside of taking their foot off the pedal in the 4th and the refs, they should've won by 20.

I read this amazing stat on the "Heavy" website: (Copy & Paste quote):

Caleb Williams was a perfect 24/24 for 248 yards from a clean pocket in the Bears’ Week 6 win over the Falcons,” NFL’s Next Gen Stats posted on X. “His 24 attempts are the most without an incompletion from a clean pocket in a game since at least 2018.”

I think Williams time on on the sidelines was beneficial.

He said exactly that during his post game ball acceptance . About 1/2 way through this video. Important for the team to hear stuff like that .

I didnt catch it, but at one point before half Caleb and Ben were arguing on sideline. I missed it, but was told they think its because Caleb was handcuffed from running with the ball. He needed protection from that on a short week.

Huge huge game and great win. Caleb played his best game as a pro as a pure qb. He has had more electric games with big plays but this was just beautiful execution outside of taking a couple first down sacks that he had to get rid of it. Excellent performance and great to have him back.

Defense was stellar - Kyler was electric but Lewis played well and everyone was swarming.

Penalties were awful - between that and Roschon fumble we almost ruined a great day. I’d also say these refs were pretty weak. But bears have to clean up the little stuff.

Fantastic to see ball spread all around today and in particular great to see Loveland get involved early and often. That TD catch was great.

I was wrong about seeing RoJo fill in. He’s no good. Can see why Ben has been keeping him low on the totem pole. Would rather see preseason darling Ahmed give it a crack - as backup.

I watched Atlanta game against Baltimore last week. You can’t come away from that game without knowing we have the better team in all phases. Baltimore did well to contain Bijan but they gave up a lot more in the passing game than we did.

Dennis Allen continues to show he can get the most out of the talent he has on the field.

Caleb and Ben make 31 pts feel like we left a lot on the field.

Good:

  • Caleb Williams: accurate, took care of the football

  • Kyler Gordon: single handily wrecked the game on defense, major impact player when healthy

  • Tory Taylor: another banana ball forced fumble

Bad:

  • Ben Johnson in the 4th quarter: can't rest starters with that much time left

  • Run game is non-existent without Monangai: Swift is either not healthy or just bad right now

  • Too many fumbles by our ball carriers: Every week someone else takes their turn putting the ball on the ground in a critical moment. Enough!

  • The officiating, took away at least 70-80 more passing yards from phantom penalties. The OPI on Loveland on 4th down was atrocious.

Quick thoughts:

  • Gordon's blitzing makes this defense dangerous with a lead. Caleb Williams took a few bad sacks, but otherwise played smart football. Didn't have to do too much. The short stuff was working today. Atlanta had to respect Caleb's arm.

  • Next week's game is big. There's an opportunity to stack some wins with Tampa Bay and New Orleans coming up in 2 out of the next 3 games after next week. Have to get this one first.
