The Bears just beat both Super Bowl teams from last year in back to back prime time games. That's wild.

This statement game bumps their superbowl odds a lot. Caleb MVP odds took a hike up too.

Trading Ten for Simmons might be just as huge as the Carolina trade ove the next 3-4 years.

This game was so fun! Offense did what it needed. Caleb is developing so much year over year. So efficient tonight. Makes it look routine and he hasn’t even done the wow and they are producing. He has a whole nother level of growth still but it is so fun to see how much he has evolved since BJ got here.

And Simmons is a monster - not only is he elite - he makes the other guys better too. I think we will be loving Sweat again too - dude had a monster game and we are about to get some big Thieneman moments too I predict (I think this new pass rush is going to set him up for some more picks and maybe some pick six’s).

Is this real? This is so much fun!!! One game at a time - let’s go Bears!!!

I was just thinking about that and how significant it must be to go 2-0 against the previous years SB teams. Well here’s the answer.

I can’t remember a game with such consistent defensive pressure by the Bears front 4. The sacks didn’t come, but they could have had nearly ten if things had gone slightly one way or another.

2018 was more of an unbelievable interception year than sack year. Only Mack impressed.

2012 was mostly Peppers

2010 was lovie and the bend but don’t break.

2006 didn’t even have a lot of sacks, even if the pressure from Brown, Ogun, Tank, and Tommie was consistent.

This really could be a special group.

Outside of Stevenson getting burnt on one play and the TD after the Loveland fumble that gave Seattle the ball at the 25, the Seahawks only scored 3 other pts. The defense also had multiple sacks taken away due to holding penalties in the secondary, and a Red Zone INT taken away as well.

How about the Bears getting a delay of game penalty while the Seattle player is taking 15 seconds to get to the LOS? I understand you have to allow substitutions, but you can't let half the play clock bleed down to 0. I don't recall ever seeing that without the play clock being reset.

Usually we gripe about how the refs get too involved in the game and sway things one way or the other. For the most part early on it was like they weren’t really there (which was nice). However I have to ask, did the Seahawks get robbed at least twice early on?

The one where their receiver was going across the middle and got whacked by Lewis (I think it was?). The play where he got completely folded up. Then just a little later when Darnold was scrambling and got hi-lowed with the hit from Devin Bush? That one of the two seemed pretty apparent. Just curious why neither of those might’ve been called.

The good:

  • Caleb Williams - Had he not missed 3 games, he would be the MVP front runner. That's how good he's been. Should still be in the conversation anyways after tonight.

  • Jeffery Simmons - Instant impact superstar. Defense can be scary if they add another DL/CB

  • Austin Booker - Lowkey had two major plays, a blocked FG and a tipped pass that lead to a critical interception that allowed them to seal the game.

The bad:

  • Colston Loveland - Can't put the ball on the ground. Hands are not as reliable as they were last year. Needs to be better moving forward.

  • Run game - They ran it effectively enough, but it's clear they miss Monangai. They're just not getting as many explosives and it's putting more of a burden on the QB to do everything. Need to get that fixed coming out of the bye.

  • Special teams - Minus the blocked FG, they looked bad, again, last night. Coverage was bad, too many penalties, Tory Taylor's punts weren't particularly good, and Zavion Thomas is looking like a bad 3rd round pick through 8 games. No vision on his returns.

  • Corners - Another atrocious ending to halftime, giving up another TD with hardly any time left after the offense had just scored. Johnson and Stevenson are the two literal worst cornerbacks in football. Can't allow that to happen anymore. Poles needs to find someone on the market.

Final thoughts:

What a statement game from this team. They were already Superbowl contenders before this game, but a blowout win like this, against that opponent, in the hardest stadium to play at, was a thing of beauty. They just might be the best team in the NFL. There's nobody they can't beat now with Simmons. They need to finish off Tampa Bay and go into the bye at 7-2 before hopefully getting some more guys back, and who knows, maybe another player or two via trade? If I were Ryan Poles, I am going to be even more aggressive than I was planning to be before after watching that game.
