  1. Past hour
  2. I can't believe I will be pulling for A. Rodgers to have a great game to defeat Detroit. Good grief, how low can I go?
  3. That was my thinking. He wasn't playing the ball; he was reacting to DJ's reaching for it. The defender not only made major contact before the ball arrived, but also had his hands in DJ's face (at first I thought it was grabbing the face mask, but then, on watching it again, he was covering it with his hands). I am certainly not as well-versed in these manners as Mongo, but to me it was a DPI. I guess it is a good thing I am not a ref. LOL
  4. I think our D line was terrible, and it was, and it has been and will be all year, but I think we played pretty well in other phases?
  5. I didnt mind the early penalties, I felt like we were serving notice that we were going to be more physical. And to be fair, int hat first Packer drive, where we gave them a tone of yards, we also knocked the ball out twice, got a hit on the QB and got a tipped ball that could have been an INT. Early penalties like that dont bother me - I like the tone setting, but false starts and stuff are dumb. Of course after the first bit, you dont want to keep seeing those penalties, but the early ones when we were all amped up? I kind of loved them. Let em know theyre in for a real fight.
  6. THe way i see it, I feel like youre talking more about the offense. For example, if Caleb makes a good fast read, and delivers a catchable ball that's dropped, and we end up having to punt, thats the offense needing more consistency, but i give Caleb a + score for that play? Now Im not saying Caleb is perfect, but if you watch the best QBs, they arent either. The last couple weeks especially it feels like the game is slowing down for Caleb and he is playing in rhythm, and to me, that means he is becoming elite. Doesnt mean he cant still work on things, of course he has to, but I see him executing the offense correctly, calmly, in time, and now with accuracy (which is new to see) so i think he took that next step last night.
  7. That only applied if the defender is looking back at the ball. No such effort was made.
  8. No. The defender had a right to the ball and didn't hinder DJ's attempt to catch.
  9. The old adage is that generally if you are penalized 100 yards or more in a game you don’t win. Last night the Bears broke that rule.
  10. I'm ecstatic that we won the game. But, this has to be one of the games where I have to say it is not deserved. We were poor on all phases of the game and I'm embarrassed in how we played against the Packers. Johnson needs to call the game better, and how the defense played after Love went down was disgraceful. Was this poor play from the players or was this down to Dennis Alen being piss poor with his play calling.
  11. Yep I would say that first drive was in fact a thing of beauty. Then there was a lot of bleh for the game until the second half. Cairo was our offense for the first three scores then the rest of the team came alive late in the game. I won’t deny his superstar performances. Just that I’d like to see it from start to finish. My BP meds are only so effective.
  12. I took into consideration his year one under BJ as his first year - and comparing it to the others. If he progresses from this year to next - fantastic. Of course that applies to BJ as well. Last thing we need him to do is pull a Nagy on year two.
  13. Wife and I were talking about it. One angle did show the defenders arm over Moore’s face which I would think that would have been called. The thing that makes me think they wouldn’t have is there were no flags thrown. Generally even if there is a score the flags are still thrown a higher percentage of the time. At the end of the day, thankfully we don’t have to worry about it.
  14. Today
  15. Even if you ignore the heroics at the end. Watch the drive where we eventually snapped the ball over Monangais head - Caleb was spectacular on that drive. The whole game he played with poise and rhythm. Of course there are plays where he has to throw the ball away, where the defense wins. There is no QB that doesnt have that. But Caleb has superstar written all over him, and I think he got to a new level last night.
  16. Question. If DJ didn't catch the winning TD in the endzone, would the refs have called DPI against the Packer player draped over his back before the ball even arrived? My guess is that, given how the refs have disrespected the Bears pretty much all season, it would have been a no-call.

    Bears Penalties

Still lead the league in Net Penalties -25, and Net Penalty Yards -318. Over the course of 15 games, they have lost a games worth of yardage to penalties compared to the other team. That is equal to a full game lost.
  18. Not to poo poo on other young QBs, but the MIN v NYG game is ugly. Dart has 6 yards passing, an INT and 3 sacks in the 3rd Quarter. McCarthy is hurt again, and he left with 108 yards, 1 INT, and 1 fumble.
  19. DAL was his best QBR game, this game was his 2nd best. CLE was a top 5 game.
  20. Stroud got worse year 1 to year 2. Daniel’s did the same. Caleb is better year 1 to year 2 under pretty much every stat. TDS, yards per game, sack rate, comebacks, yards per attempt, qbr. Only spot somewhat flat is completion percentage but even than he’s throwing ball down field a ton. His interception rate remains elite as well - which quite frankly it was in year 1 as well. Oh and year 1 in new system and first time in his career working behind center with new footwork. I think year 3 will be even better and more growth than we saw from year 1 to 2.
  21. Is that his best QBR in any game or did he top that in Browns game? I don’t know that I would have said it was his best or even top 2 game but he did have some pretty good balls given the conditions. Missed a few hot routes and there were 2 drops - one on a pretty deep pass. Also had the first down to Loveland take off the board on the Moore questionable penalty.
  22. Lafleur called a real good game and made some nice adjustments the whole way. Packers DC did a nice job as well - bears weren’t ready for them to dial up the blitzes as much but finally adjusted late. But there were a few clear blitzes and hot route wasn’t executed right (not sure if it was qb or wide out or what)
  23. Out of his hand I thought he literally was throwing it away and I was like oh crap and than camera angle pans down and it’s oh hell yeah…than it goes to replay and I’m like don’t show a bobble or a foot not getting down (live I thought it was a TD but I’d been wrong before)
  24. It was a bad call on Moore…he was fine and it had no bearing on the play etc. I thought refs were pretty one sided yesterday (in fairness I thought Bears maybe had a slight benefit on calls in the first meeting). But there was a play or two where they should have been a pass interference on Packers (one was where Kmet got mugged early) and I thought the first roughing passer was borderline and still thought the Brisker one was somewhat borderline (but can’t argue it). The 2nd one Booker got gets called everytime…sucked the timing of the head going down. I also thought Packers got away with a couple holding calls on Jarrett.
