Pace keeps things close to the vest before every draft so there's not a lot of chatter about the Bears. Nonetheless, I'd still like to have a thread where we can put all draft rumors. Technically what other teams do in the draft is Bears related. Let's start off with some Bears tidbits... http://draftanalyst.com/small-school-gems-offense Bears have interest in a small school QB, Connor Jessop, and a small school OG, Matthew Gono. Three NFC North teams are showing interest in Gono. I'd say Jessop is a UDFA candidate. I don't see much anticipation but he is accurate. Gono has some good raw talent and could be in play very late in the draft but it's …

  3. Who in this draft is going to be a blue chip player from day one and makes us a better team now? Chubb could be the guy but will not be there. Barkley could be consider that type of player, but he will not be there in almost any scenario. Next will be Nelson, a potential instant all pro type. He would give us strength at a key need and push the O in his first year to be better. Now we are at players we probably have the best shot at . Fritzpatrick can be used all over the field at any DB spot and be a playmaker we badly need. A prime candidate if available . R. Smith would instantly make out defense better. a Luke Kuechly type that improves…

Marlon Brown Hasn't played in a reg season game 2015 2013 undrafted FA. Had a back injury in 2015, signed to a 1 year deal to the broncos but was waived after another back injury. Later resigned by the broncos and released again in 2017. Seems to be a camp body.

As for Harrison, he will be a project but, Hiestand is a good tutor. My alternate pick at 105 is Kemeko Turay OLB Rutgers.

At this point the roster is nearly complete, and the Bears need to focus on what positions will need updating, and which will benefit the team the most. I think we might be able to glean some info from the depth chart: Offense LWR 12 Robinson, Allen U/Jax 18 Ayers, Demarcus SF17 80 McKay, Mekale SF17 00 Fowler, Bennie R/Den RWR 11 White, Kevin 15/1 15 Bellamy, Josh W/Was 19 Gentry, Tanner CF17 SWR 18 Gabriel, Taylor U/Atl LT 72 Leno Jr., Charles 14/7 LG 79 Sowell, Bradley U/Sea 67 Morgan, Jordan 17/5 63…

I find this interesting. I think they may think they have their starter in Eric Kush and now will have Morgan and Coward as backups. It worked well for for Big Cat Williams in the day.I would say if Nelson doesn't make it to our pick, we will go defense and maybe a OT prospect later in the draft to replace Massie after this year.

  13. Kind of a fluff piece, but still nice to read... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/04/17/jordan-howard-comforting-that-bears-said-they-wont-trade-me/ Jordan Howard: “Comforting” that Bears said they won’t trade me Posted by Josh Alper on April 17, 2018, 2:50 PM EDT Getty Images Before wide receiver Jarvis Landry was traded to the Browns this offseason, there were reports that the Dolphins were talking about trading him to the Bears for running back Jordan Howard. That didn’t happen and it doesn’t appear the Bears are going to look for other trading partners for a deal involving Howard. Howard spok…

Article from the Windy City Gridiron states that the Bears have brought LSU edge rusher Arden Key in for a visit. I think if we do not draft edge Round 1, we will come looking for one in Round 2. https://www.windycitygridiron.com/2018/4/16/17245302/chicago-bears-arden-key-visits-draft-lsu-pass-rusher-pro-day-injuries-nfl-2018

I know this is unlikely, but I'm thinking more and more I hate the #8 spot. I think Nelson and Chubb will be gone, and I don't like anyon else at #8 a lot. So my dream is a trade down with Buffalo. They obviously need QB, and a ton of articles online think they are poised to make a move. They moved up for a reason, and it wasn't to sit still at #12 and hope. Trade #1 BUFFALO 1.12 = 1200 3.65 = 265 CHICAGO 1.8 = 1400 From there I want the Bears to drop down into the late teens or early 20s. That would net them another early 3rd, or a late 2nd for the fee of moving up. So let's say for fun they trade down to 23, because NE is so unpredictable…

    1. Tremain Edmunds LB - VT 6'5 250 Edmunds is too versatile to pass. He can play inside or on the edge. Remember Clay Matthews in his prime moving all along the front and always sacking Cutler. This is how I envision Fangio using Edmunds. This is a disruptive playmaker the D needs to become top 5. This is not about adding a great sound ILB which can be had with Smith, but a guy that is a chess piece offenses try to anticipate. 2a. Sam Hubbard OLB/DE - Ohio St 6'5 270 Drafttek has the Bears selecting him also, like Edmunds and it makes sense. Hubbard is not a flashy player but he will do his job 110%. He is a football player and will probably be a lo…

With the possibility that the Bears are not matching the offer to Meredith, I was looking at who is currently on the roster. It's pretty scary. We have a bunch of question marks and not much depth. Our #1 is coming back from an injury. Oh, so is our #2, whether it's White (zero confidence in him) or Meredith, who may not even be with the team. So our top 2-3 receivers are coming off injury. We do have a speedy slot guy. Beyond that - Josh "As long as it doesn't hit me in the hands" Bellamy, Tanner Gentry, and two guys I've never heard of - DeMarcus Ayers and Mekale McCay. I like the additions on offense this off season, but are we really in a better position …
