Go Bears? Merry Christmas, it's snowing in Chicago. We win, guarantee a lesser draft spot, but save some face by not losing to a winless team. We also go undefeated in the division (AFC North). Mr. Ohio is already 1-0 against Ohio teams. Can he make it 2-0? We lose, become "the team that lost to the Browns", maintain draft position, and guarantee Fox's fate. I am just hoping for a bounce back game for Trubisky and hope that Gordon doesn't go off when our CB's fall down (which they will). Bears 17 - 13 We Flush the Toilet Bowl!

I think we should resign K. Fuller . It is an area of need and if we go out and sign a high level vet, it will cost us an average of 13 mil based on last years signing. So is Fuller worth, 10 to 11 mil a year at 5 years with 30 mil guaranteed ? I think we have to , you figure we draft one high and at least need a young stable vet going forward. The Marcus Cooper signing was thought to be a ascending player, but fell of the edge. Prince played well but was not outstanding, so I think we keep one and Fuller is 3 years younger.

With all the criticize Pace has gotten lately, I still think he has given us our core for the future. Although his first round picks have had questions due to injuries, he has drafted well outside of that round. Here is my list of who I think our core will be going forward. (not in any particular order)(draft and FAs) Trubisky Shaheen Whitehair Howard Cohen Floyd Hicks Goldman Trevathan (2018 he will be 28) Bullard (has taken a step forward this year and will have a breakout season next year) N. Kwiat ( has grown as a pass defender) with Freeman gone will take over at one of the spots at ILB Amos (is one of the highest rated Ss this…

Some have talked about how to fix offense or defense, and pointed to defense being closer. This is true. But if the coaches and franchise want Trubisky to succeed, he needs to be given everything he needs. That means weapons and tons of time to throw to the weapons. Here's the mock draft that would fit that bill. Trading down is obviously mandatory. Your score is: 15527 (GRADE: C+) - Don't care about this score. Your Picks: Round 1 Pick 19 (BUF): Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame ( B )-Starts at LT immediately Round 1 Pick 29 (PITT): Courtland Sutton, WR, Southern Methodist ( B+ )-Stud WR and Red Zone mismatch, a crutch for Trubisky. Round 2 Pick 6: Ronnie …

To put a spot where we can look at all the potential future HCs.. I think Bill O'Brien might get let go this year. I think he might be a good coach going forward although his record is spotty. Another name out of left field I would like to throw in the ring is Peyton Manning. I have heard he might get into coaching but not necessary this year. Although he is unproven, he is a throbbing football brain, and I suspect would be a good influence on our QB for the future.

He was demoted when we signed Quentin Demps, but came back with a vengence when his window opened. He is becoming a center piece to an up and coming defense and his performance says a lot. It is too bad he didn't make the pro bowl, but his stats say he was deserving. According to the famous well liked PFF site, Amos ranks: 2nd in run defense with a 99.1 grade and 5th in pass coverage with a 89.5 grade. That ranks him #2 overall for all safties. With Jackson and him at S, the Bears have a tandem that can only get better with time.

Two more years on his contract - $7.2 million next year and $7.6 million the next. If we cut him, there is only a $1 million cap hit. I cannot imagine we keep him. Peace

Up until he went on IR, Mitch Unrein was having a career year. In 12 games he had 1.5 sacks and 24 tackles. That's not a joke. That's his career year. Meanwhile, Hicks has 8 sacks, 38 tackles, and is a general terror on the field. The Bears need to upgrade Mitch Unrein more than they need to upgrade OLB. This is something I said last year. The same holds true. I think at this point I would prefer the Bears to start with a trade down then... 1. Mike McGlinchey, OT, ND - Could start LT or RT, whichever. 2. Equanimeous St. Brown, WR, Notre Dame - Great size and speed. #1 immediately. 2. Da'Shawn Hand, DE, Bama - He's got incredible strength and could be a s…

This week is a short one with the Bears playing Sat afternoon. Here's the Tue practice injury report. We may be getting some players back with Goldman, McPhee, and Amos starting to practice in a limited manner. On the flipside we added Shaheen and Kendall Wright but neither appears to be serious. Detroit has some concerns on the Oline. http://www.detroitlions.com/team/custom-injury-report.html

Houston has 4 sacks since returning at the beginning of the month. Do we try to sign him for next year? Given the issues we've had at OLB, he seems like a good option. Peace

Even more reason to get rid of this coaching staff: From Brad Biggs in the Tribune: It would be far from accurate to say the Bears lost this game because they didn’t hand the ball off to Jordan Howard for running plays from the shotgun formation. But a week after having good success running the ball from that formation in Cincinnati, the Bears didn’t try it once. Howard had 10 carries from the shotgun against the Bengals for 97 yards and two touchdowns. It was strong production from their most consistent offensive performer. It was not a surprise. Howard led all NFL running backs out of the shotgun as a rookie in 2016 when he averaged 7.0 yards per carry (…

Suppose the Bears were one of the healthiest teams in the league instead of one of the most injured? What scenarios would have played out? What would the record be? The first thing I think of is Kevin White. If he didn't get injured again, would he have blossomed into a star WR this year? Would his ascendancy have led to Glennon performing better and keeping the job?

https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-3...vations-week-13 Chicago Bears: On his 65 third-down attempts, quarterback Mitchell Trubisky’s average of 9.6 yards per attempt ranks second among 32 starting signal-callers, while his passer rating of 103.7 ranks fourth. Through 13 weeks, he’s the only starting quarterback to have not thrown an interception on any of his third-down pass attempts. ------------------- The sample size is more than big enough to be significant. Then there was this article published before the Bengals game... http://www.thetenyardline.com/2017/12/08/m...-on-third-down/ ------------------- Passing chart against Bengals …
