Since we lost Urlacher, Roach and Hayes and gained Williams and Anderson and maybe another in the draft or FA are we better or the same at our LB core? Williams Anderson http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=playe...p;v=B_RVGbhGcvk

I know PFF gets a bad rap, especially now, but I just wanted to point out that Pernell McPhee ranks only behind Von Miller and Demarcus Ware in terms of QB pressures through 3 games. If the corner play continues to get better a lot of those pressures will turn into sacks like they did against Seattle. He looks to be like a good addition by Pace.

In one of the other threads I mentioned something similar to the old-school Washington+Traylor combo. The reason that worked so well is that they basically set up a wall and said, "You either have to run around wide, or pass." It was pretty effective in that regard. What if the Bears did something similar in the near future? The way I see it, you need 2-3 components with this idea: 1) The stout DL, obviously 2) Athletic LBs, to chase outside, cover gaps, and go into pass coverage 3) A decent secondary So here is my challenge: Choose a combination of 3-4 ILB, and/or 3-4 OLB, and/or 3-4 DE that realistically could fall into the Bears draft position. …

Detroit is dead last in the league, 32nd, against the run, giving up an average of 207.7 yards per game. If we pound away with Forte, he could have the best game of his rookie season in week 5. It should be a great game for him to highlight his skills.

  6. After seeing the Jets beat the Rams, then the Bengals beat the Steelers, I really hope the Bears don't crap the bed on this one with so much on the line. This is the worst team the Bears will face this year, 31st in DVOA, 25th Offensive DVOA and 31st in Defensive DVOA, only the Jets are worse. If the Bears manhandled the Texans, this should be a blowout, however, Minshew is actually really solid for a QB on a 1-13 team. He has thrown 16 TDs to 5 INTs and Robinson is one of the best RBs in the league. However, after those two and Chark, they have a bunch of very average players. The Jags defense is crazy bad, they have allowed 20 or more points in every ga…

I keep hearing about him trying LT again. Personally, I think he has the tools to succeed, but hasn't had too much of a shot. Play pro's and con's, coming into his fourth year, he hasn't stayed too healthy. On the plus side, he's smart, has quick feet and pedigree. I want the Carimi to the left talk to stop. He is a prototypical right tackle. Plus, he makes a nasty companion to our nasty RG Louis. Just sayin', give the kid a shot. Make Webb the swing tackle and draft a nasty G and C. One to start, one to groom.

Now that we've thrown in on QB, the strength of the draft remains DB and TE. We also have big name defenders falling. Can we get a Jonathan Allen our Malik Hooker in the 2nd?

Allright MadLith (and all other non-Lovie advocates), I will concede that if Lovie and Co. cannot pull it together this year and at the very least make it to the playoffs, away he (and they) go. With the additions of Peppers, Taylor, Manumaleuena (sp?), Cutler and who else??? then there is absolutely no excuse the Bears should not be contenders for the upcoming year...or for a few afterwards. This is another fantastic day in Bears history.

In an Article from the Chicago Sun-Times.com Tillman states that in the NFL offense sells tickets, but not our offense. Think that might tick off the Bears offense?

Some fairly impressive numbers from the Bears defense. In general, they are clearly better than last year and have improved even more since players got healthy and the acquisition of Sweat. Both Sweat and Edwards are playing at Pro Bowl levels. #1 against the Run (79 yds/game) #3 Interceptions (13) #9 Total Yards Allowed (318 yds/game) #11 Turnovers (20) #16 Passes Defended (50) #19 Defensive DVOA (last season they finished #32) #22 against the Pass (248yds/game) TJ Edwards #2 in tackles (125), also has 2 sacks, 2 INT, and 1 FF Jaylon Johnson #7T in interceptions (3) Montez Sweat #12 in sacks (9), (4g, 2.5 sack…

If that is what Wiz is looking for, than I would have to think at some point, the Bears and Wiz could work out a long-term deal. At 26, he would be a significant upgrade in the middle of our line and I am more than fine paying a C 4M per year longterm.

  18. McCaskey was on radio (today I think) and indicated based upon his discussions with Pace and Fox that they are still a ways away and this will be an extended process to rebuild the franchise from where it was and was going to take multiple more years. With that in mind, I think it makes it even more likely that you can't write-off the QB position for the Bears. It also points out why the Bears should be targeting as many potential playmakers as they could possibly find and when it comes to FA be picky that whomever you sign, either let it be a guy who is undervalued who you think has more upside than indicated or be someone young enough that fits into your longer term pl…

Well, the Giants now have nothing to play for Sunday in Minnesota. Last year, Coughlin played the starters even after clinching a spot but they were also 100% last year. Jacobs is definitley not 100%. Then again, if Ward runs like this again, who knows. Yet, we must take care of business tomorrow.
