http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...,4375726.column Rams safety fills bill for Smith’s greatest desire — takeaways Dan Pompei On the NFL March 7, 2010 E-mail Print Share Text Size Now that the Bears have a player who can force the opposing quarterback into making bad throws, they need a player who can intercept those passes. O.J. Atogwe, meet Lovie Smith. You might remember Atogwe. When he was playing free safety for the Rams last December, he had two forced fumbles against the Bears. And those forced fumbles are part of a large trend. Since Atogwe came into the league as a third-round pick out of Stanford in 2005, he has …

No. 14: Bears - RB Rashard Mendenhall, Illinois Rashard Mendenhall may just be the best running back in the draft. (Doug Pensinger / Getty Images) The Monsters of the Midway need to rebuild an aging and ineffective offensive line, so they're disappointed to see both Ryan Clady and Chris Williams off the board. Even though GM Jerry Angelo drafted Cedric Benson at No. 4 overall just three years ago, this running game is in need of a major boost. Mendenhall is a local product who starred at Niles West High School, and his presence will allow offensive coordinator Ron Turner to get back to the two-pronged ground game that was so successful in 2006 with Benson and t…

Our seats sucked so we stood in the concourse in North endzone and watched on the Jumbo TV. Well long story short, it turned into a big old party which made it hard to watch every play. How did the Oline play? How was Tices play call? How did Cutler look overall? His numbers were not that bad... When did they pull the starters? Anyone else think Urlacher looked slow on that INT return? Maybe it was my beer googles lol Is this D fun to watch or what????

First, Mondays game was awesome. Seeing our offense do what they did was crazy. Reminded me of the first 5 weeks of 2005 when Great Rex was showing up. Couple of thoughts tho 1. I expected the Offense to hit this type of stride come week 8 or 9. New Coach, system, oline. It takes time for a offense to gel. Do you think if Cutler had not got hurt would his numbers be even better then McCown? 2. Trying not to drink the kool aid too much, they did look great against The Cowboys, the Cowboys D is horrible. Everyone is craving them up. 3. Had McCown not been lucky this game could have been very different. Had two INT's dropped, taking two scores away and a 3r…

There has been a ton of critical talk from this past game, understandably, but there were a couple players who I think could warrant some positive comments. Daniel Manning - I have ripped him up and down for some time, but he has really showed development. We saw his contributions last year as a returner and nickel. In camp, we hear he will be our starting FS, and there was a collective moan. Now I wonder though. There was a particular play that really stood out to me. I don't want to make too much from one play, but at the same time, it was the sort that gives me hope. I believe DM was playing FS, but he may have been the nickel. As much as we mix it up, its …

Dust settling but multiple reports popping up that Cousins will sign 4yr deal with Falcons. No word yet on $'s. Not a good look for Field(s) but now the dust is settled at QB.

What would you be willing to give up for Kirk Cousins? Would you give up our first round pick and Jeffery? How about our first round pick this year and next year? Peace

For years we've been terrible at covering RBs on pass routes. If we want to win tomorrow we better shutdown these short passes and screens. Bring the CB up closer to the LOS (listen up Nate) while the safeties better be smart because the Eagles can go deep as well. On offense I see the opposite needing to happen. We're going to get blitzed all game long. They'll use their blitz to stop our run game and if we pass they'll be in Orton's face. To counter this we need to let Forte swing out of the backfield and let Orton float the ball to him. Forte's good enough to make one defender miss and get a big gain. If Dawkins comes up on a blitz (here's where it w…

So have read many stories about all the incorrect test results for many teams yesterday. Nine, ten, 12. That has to but a team into WTF mode for awhile no matter how good you think you program is. And it also will show how well do they have a handle on things. Because there is a more than likely chance that will be a reality before the season is over. So I guess a good dry run to see how things were handled and what contingency plans are in place.

http://sturminator.blogspot.com/2010/04/co...raft-board.html PFT posted this topic. While this is fascinating, I found it particularly interesting they had Corey Wooton listed as the 3rd best player in the 3rd round. Meanwhile, they had Major Wright listed as the 14th player in the 4th round.

Interesting to see after the fact. Probably puts to bed any sense that the Cowboys would have taken Long over Frederick. http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2013/5/30/4...e-7-round-board

Bears are two-point dogs at home. The wheels have fallen off the Cowboys in their last two games and the Bills and Pats have given the Bears a blueprint for success. Dallas has 1 win against a team with more than 3 wins, the 5-7 Eagles. Trubisky is playing for his career. He will get a full week to prep for the Cowboys playing outside in the cold. The Bears need this game more than the Cowboys. Bears 20-12

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,4882964.story First they say they are content to fill their MLB void via their current roster now they consider luring a retired MLB back to the game. Nothing serious here in terms of negotiations but I wouldn't be surprised if Dallas reached out to Urlacher's agent.

Can you imagine a scenario where DL goes hot and heavy before the Bears pick? 1. TB – Jameis Winston, QB, FSU 2. TEN – Leonard Williams, DT/DE, USC 3. JAX – Dante Fowler, DE, FLA 4. OAK – Randy Gregory, DE/OLB, NEB 5. WAS – Danny Shelton, NT, WAS 6. NYJ – Marcus Mariotta, QB, ORE What then? My thought here is, do the Bears take the 4th best pass rusher with the #7 pick in the draft? I don't like that idea. Assuming no trade down possibilities, I'm thinking they have to go Bama with either Collins or Cooper.
