Bearstalk

Are you a diehard Chicago Bears fan? If so, you've found the spot to discuss all things Chicago Bears. Discuss the Monster of the Midway right here as the Bears look to get back on track in 2024 and take the North and never give it back! Flaming is not allowed and all such posts will be deleted. Try to keep it clean and most importantly BEAR DOWN! #BEARS #CHICAGOBEARS #BEARDOWN

  1. According to Ian Rapport reports. If true eladed and skeptical at the same time. Paying big money for a player that doesn't stay on the field enough.

As a Bear fan for many decades, it's hard to recognize the current process going on! A GM trying to build a team carefully. With all the free movement going on Brian Poles has been controlled with everything he does. I OTOH am so used to the quick fix approach now that I forgot about how Jim Finks built the first playoff team since 63. That took about 3 years and he had the same focus of building through the trenches, like the current GM. So I have to remind myself to wait for the process.

Alex Cappa Ted Karras La’el Collins Burrow did well last year. Wait until the league sees what he does this year. This is EXACTLY what the Bears should do for Fields.

This is simply a "what if" draft. You can use any teams' picks. Mine is, what if we had the Jets draft picks?

When Vic Fangio was named to John Fox's staff, I wondered what was coming. Now with Eberflus coaching the Cover 2 defense, I have the same questions! Who on this roster fits this scheme? Our new GM has made it clear that he is going to build this team in step with his coach. I love this and I'm willing to wait on the results

It's amazing that each year this is a realistic exercise. 2nd - Phidarian Mathis (DT) Alabama 2nd - Jalyn Armour-Davis (CB) Alabama 3rd - John Metchie (WR) Alabama 5th - Brian Robinson (RB) Alabama 5th - Jahleel Billingsley (TE) Alabama 6th - Emil Ekiyor Jr. (OG) Alabama I don't think Mathis fits the new scheme, and I don't think the Bears should draft a RB or a TE this year, but I'd still be somewhat excited about that draft for no other reason than the Bears finally got through a draft without picking a dude from SE Louisiana State (which admittedly didn't happen last year).

I really like George Pickens. Like everyone else, I have quite a few WRs I like in this draft. Yet in terms of the ability to go get the ball, where ever it is, I don't think there is a more QB friendly receiver in this draft. He has quick hands and despite tight coverage it's usually one touch and done. I know he's got some learning to do on his routes but that's why we pay our coaches a lot of money. He also doesn't have elite athleticism, at least as he ran at the combine which brings him down a notch from other WRs. He's already visited with the Chiefs and Packers so it seems interest in him is building, perhaps even toward late 1st early 2nd Rd. A lot of…

This is pure speculation but the logic behind this deal makes sense from the Chiefs perspective if they have their sites set on a Superbowl in 2022. Proposal: Chiefs get Quinn. Bears get pick 96. (not good enough IMO) https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2955188-5-trades-nfl-teams-should-try-to-execute-before-the-2022-draft I see the Chiefs with 12 picks (albeit 4 in Rd 7). While the draft is a good one for edge rushers those who are ready to contribute as a rookie will be gone well before the end of Rd 1. Poles has a good idea of their urgency in finding a pass rusher, and that has only increased while watching the offseason trades in their divis…

As of today, the Bears are not projected to be awarded any Compensation Picks. I do not like how they rated these because I feel like we lost a ton more than gained. Have to see what Hicks signs for and who else the Bears sign. Robinsons contract could get us a 3rd as long as it is 15.5.

Someone mentioned Brandon Thorn in some posts (forgive me for not remembering who) as an Oline analyst. I accidentally came across his Substack so I figure I'd post the link here in case anyone is interested. https://trenchwarfare.substack.com/ https://trenchwarfare.substack.com/p/ol-scouting-notebook-2022-nfl-combine?s=r Like everyone else I'm highly interested in Oline this draft but I'm also not an expert in analyzing the finer points of the positions. I've kinda had Raimann as a target for us somewhere and watched as he reportedly moved up to as high as a 2nd Rd prospect. His arm length makes me think we take him off the board as an OT. We already have …

I've spent a lot of time hyping up Byron Pringle this off-season, but Mooney needs some love too. What makes a #1 WR in the NFL? How many are there? Last year Mooney was 15th in receiving yards among wide receivers(17th overall). He also was 6th in the league in creating separation. Mooneys best ability, imo, is his ability to get down field and create separation. With the OL being pretty blah last year I don't think we were able to utilize that ability all that well. Fields and Mooney have been working out together all off-season, and with an improved offensive line, giving him the ability to work down the field more, I could see …

"What's nice about this draft is that it's deep," Eberflus said. "It's deep just because of the whole COVID thing; guys stayed in [college] another year. We feel that it's a good draft to have where we are: 39, 48, 71. We feel pretty good we're going to pick up three starters there or have potentially three starters based on the development of those players. So, we feel real good about it." https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/chicago-bears-matt-eberflus-ryan-poles-2022-nfl-draft-starters That's exactly where I'm at and any trade back must be met with the same expectation on the end result.

Eberflus is saying all the right things…so far. One absence of note: Eddie Jackson. And they brought in a few players to try out. A writer for The Athletic took 70 sites big boards and made a consensus big board. So lets say this IS the board all teams use for value of players. We have 39-48-71 and I think the first three positions that we take are OL, DT and WR, in some order As you look at the board the sweet spot imo is 40-75, were our three picks are.. WR--40. Pickens. DT 44 Logan Hall. OT 53 Tyler Smith 47 Watson. 54 D. Leaf. 61 D Faalele 57 Skyy Moore. 59 Winfrey. 64 D Kinnard 58 Metchie lll. …
