This is a boring time of the year so I was looking at the roster and seen some names that could come out and surprise us. Johnathan Banks/CB he was a second round pick, and was very productive his first two seasons in the NFL. 7 interceptions and 15 PBUs. He is 6-2 185, has decent speed and quickness to the ball. Has 34" arms, and was compaed to Aqib Tileb coming out.He seemed to got lost when their was a regime change in Tampa and then after being traded to the Lions got lost in transition. I'm not sure if I'd put us in the top 5 league-wide yet but the performance against Baltimore was impressive.

Here is a good article from the Sun-Times, if anyone hasn't read it yet (especially if you are one complaining about our FA) it is a good read. You may not agree with it but I do. The Bears are not the only team playing the waiting game in FA. Even the Packers, who had a miserable year and are trying to retool their defence to a 3-4, has only signed one player in FA and he certainly was not a household name. None of us know what is planned, but I would be willing to lay a wager with anyone who wants to do so that we will see our needs filled before the start of camp in July and that we will be a force in the NFC this year. Take it at fast value but was surprised to see that ranking pulled together. He wasn't even rated highly from a receiving perspective (which makes me question the entire rating process PFF put together). He certainly wasn't an elite football player last year. He got a lot of garbage stats and run blocking wasn't good but I can't remember a special move / play he made last season. I like Forte a lot but in a deep RB draft and with Carey on board, the money you free up could help you land 2 starting caliber players (shore up oline / defense).

Since we dont have anything else to talk about, i thought it might be a good time to say that the "new" kickoff rule looked pretty good this past year. I was initially unsure. You guys may remember that I worried that there might be some new unintended wrinkles that would allow cheap or lucky free touchdowns. But in truth, having seen it tested across a season, it seems even more solid than the previous rule when it comes to dumb little mistakes causing cheap touchdowns.
