Take it FWIW, but McShay has the Bears taking Hightower at 19 OVER Coples who goes #20. McShay states in the opening paragraph he based his final picks on talking to scouts/personel around the league.....for him to predict Hightower over Coples to the Bears is surprising. I will say this- I want Emery to draft who he wants and not who Lovie/Tice/Marinelli want. If he feels Hightower can be Urlacher's eventual successor then let Emery do his job and make that pick.

Mike Mayock, who's analysis I respect when it comes to the draft because he seems to be extremely thorough when he explains why he likes prospects, has the Bears selecting Chandler Jones at 19. Mike Mulligan who has shown over the years that he can have some insight into Bears picks was the lone panelist from the Score round table discussion of the Bears draft plans that also picked Jones.Pompeii,Biggs, Zaidman and Matt Bowen all believe that Mercilus will be and should be the pick.

  6. Here is to hoping Phil does a waaaaaayyyyyyy better job than JA. There is no control as to who is there at 19 but Phil controls who he does pick. That also goes for the 2nd round and 3rd round. I cant take another Dan Bazuin type pick. The Bears need to get a couple of guys who contribute now!!! He already got a WR, not saying another wouldnt be nice but who ever he picks they must be able to do more than Dan Bazuin did in the 2nd.

    1. Michael Brockers, DT, LSU ---Great run stuffer. Perfect compliment to the pass rushing Melton. 2. Nick Perry, DE, USC ---With the emergence of Brockers and Jones, some mocks have Perry falling into the mid-2nd. He's a great scheme fit. 3. James Brown, OT, Troy ---A lot of people think he's an NFL OG or LT. 4. Tommy Streeter, WR, Miami ---Lanky WR who is a red zone threat. Reminds me of Plaxico Burress. 5. DaJohn Harris, DT, USC ---Bears add again to their DT rotation after losing Okoye and cutting Adams. 6. Philip Blake, C, Baylor ---Blake is a natural C, but he can compete for an OG spot until Garza loses his job, gets hurt, or retires. 7. Duke…

Former Nebraska CB Alonzo Denard got into a fight outside a bar in Lincoln Neb and pushed and punched a cop who was trying break up the fight. He was rated to go between the 2nd and 4th roundby some scouts. That thud you hear is his draft stock hitting the ground. BTW Is it me or does it seem that most of the defensive players that have character issues as prospect usually don't change on the next level ? Pacman Jones,Tank Johnson,Parrish Cox and Aquib Taleb of the top of my head in recent memory.

Good news, but expected. He will is an excellent #3 RB, just needs to learn to protect the ball a bit better. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=8768

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,6270139.story So, I'm thinking: Floyd Mercilus Coples Then who? Probably at least one DT (Brockers probably). Other DEs probably, but would it be: Ingram? McClellin? OT? I wonder if guys like DeCastro or Kuechly might be on their board (I would assume not, since they are unlikely to be available). Maybe Kirkpatrick? Guess we'll find out in a couple days . . .

Continuing with Lucky's recent research, the folks at ESPN (more specifically Grantland) have produced some interesting stats as they relate to the draft. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/785360...-truly-valuable It's not all that surprising in some regards, but it does back up the concept that some positions are safer to draft in the first two rounds, and some have higher bust rates. TE is the safest in the first two rounds, and OL is the second safest. Similarly, no position other than QB drops off in production like OL does after the first two rounds. There are always reasons to debate data like this - we've probable covered them all - this is…

We've spent a lot of time on mock drafts that we like, disagree with, like partially, etc., but has anyone put together a bizarro draft? Put together the worst draft you can imagine. Think of the players you hate, the ones that have question marks, the guys that don't fit the Bears' schemes. Slot them appropriately and then draft. For instance, my nightmare draft starts off like this: 1) Stephen Hill, WR, GT - The guy is raw, unproven, has very minimal tape or stats, played in a JV offensive system in college, and is a combine warrior who has flown up draft charts. That's a collection of red flags. 2) Zack Brown, LB, UNC - Head case, lazy, disinteres…

  17. I have digested so much information, I need to make some comments before my hair turns completely blonde, and I become confused. I think the Bears want to draft a DE in the first round, with choices in order,Coples,Ingram,Merculis,Jones, Perry. There should be one of them there at that spot, so what will change that. If Reiff drops, I think they like him a lot and will draft him, leaving DE for the second round. Choices for second round: Branch, and Curry, I think in this situation they take Branch. The possiblity exists Jones may drop so he would be the choice. If Cox or Brockers drops, I think stong possiblity exists they grab one of them, and go back…

I know it's a bit off the wall but what if??? Saw today that Mike Wallace does not intend to sign his tender with Pittsburgh. How about a trade with Forte? The Steelers need an RB and the Bears need another "flashy" WR opposite Marshall and me thinks Wallace would fit the bill. Just sayin.
