Pace admitted that he was trying to trade back into round #1. When this broke, it was around pick #25. I assumed it was for either an o-lineman or edge rusher, the two most glaring holes , which are also the most important next to QB. There were no o-linemen or edge rushers taken at the end of the draft. That means there's a good chance that the guy we were targeting is still available. Any guesses who it might be? If he's still there, I'm sure we are offering a 2nd and 4th rounder to jump up a few spots.

Here is a good article on fixing that weakness. https://sportsmockery.com/2018/05/five-ways-chicago-can-fix-their-edge-rusher-problem/ I do not think we are in as bad as shape as it may look. We finished 7th in the league last year with Floyd hurt most of the year. McPhee beat up, Young on the DL. We have more production coming from Floyd this year.10-12 ? Aaron Lynch will make some kind of contribution 4-6? Kwiat is going to backup outside and I see him contributing 3-4. R. Smith will be figured in the pass rushing aspect 3-4. Patrick Willis first year with Fangio stats. 174 tks and 4 sacks, he had a high of 6 sacks in his third ye…

With Watford already cut the final pieces of the Oline are starting to take shape. I'll be surprised but happy if we can get anything at all for Grasu. https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/08/27/philadelphia-eagles-doug-pederson-super-bowl-lii-defense-hangover-carson-wentz-injury-week-1 "Who could be moved? Colts OT Austin Howard, Raiders OT Jylan Ware, Eagles OG Chance Warmack and Bears C Hroniss Grasu were among the names I’ve heard as available, with Howard and Warmack carrying extensive starting experience."

Bears scoring differential for the first 3 quarters: 30-6 In the 4th quarter: 17-35 So the team has allowed only 6 points in the first 3 quarters of the first two games (literally averaging 1 point allowed per quarter), but is giving up an average of 17.5 in the 4th quarter. So opponent's offenses in the 4th quarter (17.5) outscore our offense for the entire game (16.5). I just didn't realize how dominant our defense has been. GB didn't score a TD until after the 1st minute in the 4th and Seattle scored one 5 minutes in. Some of this can be contributed to conditioning, etc, but I didn't like the Prevent defense Fangio called on Seattle's 99-yard TD drive on MNF.…

https://ux.azcentral.com/story/sports/nfl/cardinals/2018/09/19/arizona-cardinals-sam-bradford-expects-play-faster-against-chicago-bears/1364309002/ Bradford said he’s willing to take more chances in the pocket and that, no, he isn’t fearful of re-injuring his unstable left knee. “Yeah, I think there have been instances where I can help those guys out and maybe step up and climb through some of the traffic,” he said. ---- That's right step up into the rush. I'll be right at midfield, row 24 watching how it goes.

I'm really glad I was able to go to this game. Beforehand we stopped at a restaurant near the stadium (there is a mall in the complex) and from our table I could see about 4 Cards fans and the rest where Bears fans. That carried into the game and almost the entire visitors side of the field where Bears fans, and I was down low at the 50yd line, row 24. Looking across the field it was clear there were quite a few Bears jerseys on the Cards side too. I don't know what was shown on TV but often the Bears players were looking right at us asking for more noise, especially late in the game. And we were LOUD. It's impossible to know but I'm confident as the 12th man on t…

Wow. Let's start at the top with Trubisky. He had time to throw and took full advantage of it dropping passes into the right location play after play. Numbers aside, he's still got room to grow but the most important aspect for me was seeing him confident in the pocket with his reads. Regardless of pass rush or not he looked like he knew where he should go with the ball on each play. With that confidence he finally showed he can "throw guys open" like on that beautiful tear-drop pass to Robinson in the endzone. Oline: They did a great job in pass protection today. Run blocking wasn't so good but it was good enough to keep the threat of runs realistic. …

I seen where Charles Leno has only gives up 4 pressures this year, no sacks , no QB hits. He has played Matthews, Jones and Jason Pier-Paul, I would have to say he has done well. Blair Nichols, RHH, Bullard, and Arron Lynch are good players. Goldman, Mack are studs, Smith and Floyd have played well. We have a lot to look forward to on the D.

With the GB loss, Bears are guaranteed to go into Week 6 with 1st Place in the Division. Hilarious that Crosby missed 4 FG's and an XP (13 pts) and they only lost by 8.

It's hard not to be disappointed after a 2nd straight loss which drops us to last place in the Division. As bad as we have been, we could easily be 6-0. 23-17 Lead with 2:39 left in 4th Quarter, lose to GB 24-23. 28-21 Lead with 3:17 left in 4th Quarter, lose to Miami 31-28 in OT. 24-21 Lead with 12:04 left in 3rd Quarter, lose to NE 38-31 with ball on 1-yard line as time expires.

Hopefully they are all 100% as well (and not still 75 or 80%). Great to have those guys back. Will be interesting to see if Shaheen is active on Sunday.

Wow, Cohen moves and jukes like my fav, Sayers. Pace got a gem, like Papa Bear did. I really missed this type of football. Loved it in 64-65, adore it now.

I seen someone on bleacher report suggest the bears trade for vic Beasley for a 3rd round pick this year? I would say no, it would hamper Floyd's breakout year.

Nice signing, formerly of the Seahawks. I almost posted about him this morning after reviewing FA RBs. Was thinking Ware, Coleman, or Davis would make sense and now this. I like the signing, it reminds me of Trey Burton last season. "Davis ran 112 times for 4.6 yards per carry and caught 34 passes on 42 targets"

Looks like they found Callahan's replacement. Hopefully comes in cheap. Update: not cheap, I do not like this signing. Skrine has been one of the worst CBs and most penalized CBs in the league. I don't know what Pace is thinking here. Over paid IMO. 3/$16.5 with $8.5 guaranteed seems steep for a perennial under performer. We will see what they get out of him but it seems like another Cooper signing.

Cool ‘behind the scenes’ story on how the Bears acquired Mack. Also note towards the end of the story how on day one while at practice Mack was already displaying his leadership skills. Freakin awesome. https://www.chicagobears.com/news/how-the-bears-acquired-all-pro-khalil-mack

He's fast and that was a speedy exit. Nagy says there was too much competition. I say for that much athletic talent to get cut this early he had to be lazy in meetings, study habits, or in the training room not rehabbing like he should. Or perhaps all 3. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/bears/practice-notes-another-fight-emanuel-hall-gets-cut-and-more-bears-first-practice-back-halas

This play pretty much sums up the offense in Game 1. In the 1st Quarter, 3rd and 9 from the GB 39, the Bears come out trips left and keep 7 in to protect and still allow a sack with 2 extra blockers. Long and Daniels both literally touched Martinez and let him through with zero resistance to block no one? The play call was also terrible. The only receivers are between the left hash and the sidelines (making it easy to defend). The only possible completion at this point is an out to Robinson or a post to Cohen (which takes longer to develop) inside the safety and past the LBs, which is a tough throw with pressure up the middle. The only chance is if Mitch sees the pr…
