If we trade down I think we only have two possible partners. The Giants have 29-----------45----------60. They need a WR, OLB, and another RB add to the mix. Would they want a WR that would be there at 18 enough to give back 29 and 60 for? The Patriots have 23----------34--------47 They need to add a couple of young LBs to help Mayo. Vrabel gone and Bruschi will turn 36. Would they give us 23 and 60 if Cushing or Maualuga drops to us would they pull the trigger?

Fontel Mines, TE CHI News: The Bears announced Sunday which players they signed for their practice squad. The players are as follows: DE Ervin Baldwin, LB Joey LaRocque and TE Fontel Mines. Analysis: The Bears still have three open practice spots. These players will not see the field on Sundays during the regular season and should be avoided in Fantasy.

http://www.foxsportshouston.com/11/18/11/F...amp;feedID=3714 How wicked would a Peppers/Mario Williams d line look in Chicago? I forgot he was even a free agent. It doesn't look like the Texans are going to be able to franchise him, so the possibility of him leaving becomes significantly greater. Obviously the Bears have some of their own issues, as far as long term contracts are concerned, and I'm not sure what there money situation looks like for next season, but that would be quite a splash to sign this guy.

No matter what metric you use, Johnson is near the top for all CBs this season. As much as I am on Pace about Kmet and other draft picks not to be named here, Johnson was a steal in the 2nd round. It almost makes Pace look dumb for not drafting Johnson first. I was just hoping for play equivalent to Prince, but Johnson has far exceeded that and at times has been the best DB on the team, which says a lot. If he keeps this up, he has a chance at Rookie, Pro-Bowl, and possibly All-Pro honors. He will need a few INTs to be in the All-Pro discussion, but he is right there right now in every other metric.

Some here are hanging their hats on the statement Pace made talking about building through the draft. This has lead me to wanting to re watch it and digest it again after the initial excitement of a new GM wore off. The statement was made about building in the draft for sustained success, and it's certainly understandable to take that quote and run with it, but there's more to it. When asked about whether this is a rebuilding team or a team capable of a quick turnaround, Pace brought up the 06 Saints. The 05 Saints were 3-13 and Pace talked about how everyone was talking about how the team was in need of a "Massive rebuild" and how the team was "Decimated", but …

Love the first three rounds... 1. HHCD, S, Alabama 2. Roberson, CB, Florida 3. Anthony Johnson, DT, Florida 4. Tom Savage, QB, Pitt (I'd rather see Shayne Skov, ILB, Stanford here) 5. Kevin Pierre-Louis, LB, Boston College

RAMS SIGN RICKY MANNING Posted by Michael David Smith on August 31, 2008, 3:36 p.m. The St. Louis Rams have agreed to terms with cornerback Ricky Manning today as they continue to shape their secondary a week before the start of the season. St. Louis also claimed safety Brannon Condren off waivers from Indianapolis. The Rams released tight end Richard Owens to make room for Condren and will have to jettison one more player when Manning signs his contract, which, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports, will happen tomorrow. Manning was released by the Bears on Tuesday. He played in 31 games and started 11 after signing a free-agent contract with Chicago in 2006…

I'm sure most if not all of you have seen this. Still there is a lot of good and sometimes subtle info here to my eyes. The good news is you get to see it yourself, and don't have to rely on anyone's opinion or second hand telling. The first thing I'd note is that Williams looked nervous in his combine interview. He kept his hands in a praying position, which usually means someone really wants something, and he was comforting himself with his thumb and actually kissed his own hand too. All of this is body language evidence that he really wanted to be here. His draft day exuberance also told that story. You can hear our scouts way back before the combin…

I want to start out that I'm not a big fan of Turner and Heinstand. Actually after the season ended last year I wanted their heads. My biggest reason was developing talent. Nada, ZIP, zero since they've been here. What I thought was some good FA signings this year and of course the best trade I've seen as a Bear Fan ( Cutler ) would help out our dynamic dual. Nope ! But I'm still holding out for some hope. I'll give them some time but not much. Many of you have been tossing this subject of why our offense is underachieving around this week it occurred to me it sounded like the argument of what came first the egg or chicken. I do admit both sides h…

Eric Berry, fantasy guru, was just on ESPN FT and said that Hester is the biggest sleeper in FF this year. He led the Bears in times targeted last year, and had 8+ FF points in 4 of the Bears last 6 games. I agree with him. I'll be laughing by season's end when Hester is a 1100 yard receiver and I get him in round 10.

With the season now officially over (as opposed to when it was essentially over two months ago), what does this team actually need to do in the offseason? It's easy to look at this team and see nothing but holes, but without their first two picks (which hurts both for draft and for trade purposes), it's hard to see how they can fix, or even patch, everything. So, let's look at this team: QB: It'll be Cutler and Hanie, but am I the only one who would kind of like to see a veteran QB on this team? At the very least, I feel like it would be nice to have someone like that on the sideline Cutler can talk to after a bad play who has actually played QB in the NFL. It's not…

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...story?track=rss Chicago Bears GM Phil Emery said today that finding some fresh bodies along the offensive line, whether it be in free agency or the draft, is one of his priorities this offseason. “I like the look of our offensive line with the guys with have signed up right now,” he said. Asked about adding a lineman, Emery said the Bears always are searching for depth. He said they could look at other free-agent linemen, and the team will look “very hard” at offensive linemen in the draft.

Gonna be an interesting week. I don't think I want Bevell as the Bears next Head coach, I am tired of exViking castoffs being on the Bears coaching staff. GM Emery has his 3 finalists for Bears coaching job Bevell, Arians or Trestman could be selected as soon as Wednesday After crisscrossing the country for two weeks, Bears general manager Phil Emery has moved to a final round of interviews in search of the franchise's next head coach. Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell has a second interview scheduled Tuesday, and Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians and Montreal Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman are also in the mix, according to mult…

http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=8971 Rookie receiver Alshon Jeffery followed his impressive performance in Thursday night’s preseason opener with an equally strong effort on the practice field Saturday in Bourbonnais. The second-round draft pick caught three touchdown passes in a red-zone drill, using his 6-3, 216-pound frame to leap high over defensive backs in the corner of the end zone on all three plays. Bears rookie second-round draft choice Alshon Jeffery catches a pass in practice. “As you look at receivers you want to see production,” said coach Lovie Smith. “From OTAs we were talking about how good his hands w…

I am really liking what Pace is doing with this team. Some bold moves with the signing of Sitton and cutting of Gould. It is hard to say we are not a markedly better team than we were to end last season. The preseason performance, especially in Game 3 really brought my expectations down, but the latest moves to solidfy the roster have been reassuring.

http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post...inois-de-walker The Chicago Bears signed former Illinois defensive end Derek Walker and waived tackle Tyler Henderson on Tuesday. The 6-foot-4, 270-pound Walker played four games with the Chicago Rush last season, recording two sacks and an interception. Undrafted out of Illinois in 2009, Walker entered the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks. Hendrickson was an undrafted rookie out of Concordia (Minn.).

Bears | Ogunleye, Idonije unlikely to land new deals this season Comment (0) Mon, 18 May 2009 05:40:49 -0700 Vaughn McClure, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo sounded somewhat apprehensive when asked about the possibility of rewarding DL Adewale Ogunleye and DL Israel Idonije with new contracts this season. Both players are in contract years. "We did quite a bit last year if memory serves me right," Angelo said. "I think we were unprecedented in terms of all the people we did extensions with so, in part, that made fewer players come up. But those that do well, we'll definitely do what we've always done in the past. I'v…
