Why are the Bears struggling so hard to win games this year? The Offensive and Defensive rosters were full of experienced talent, and we finally had coaches with a scheme that can put up points. The answer was the Bears biggest offseason loss, and it's someone you might never have heard of. Rusty Jones was the Bears Strength and Conditioning coach from 2005 through spring of 2013. During that time, the Bears were relatively injury free. Here's a Story from Sports Illustrated about Rusty Jones, and his philosophy of training to avoid injuries, as contrasted with training to gain maximum strength. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writ...program…

The biggest day in the U.S. is today.......the NFL trading deadline. Poles has been one of the more active GMs of late during this period. Will he make any moves? Will the Bears be buyers or sellers? With the ravaged OLine, getting anyone to protect Caleb would be useful. I wonder if guys like Herbert or Allen will be moved?

  3. With only 2 high picks for now , we have to figure we only get 2 potential starters at 43 -50 . What helps us the most since we added players at all of our need spots. It we draft a OT, almost anyone we would get there is going to need 1 yr of growing. Jones- Cleveland and jackson are all rated higher but could drop. Is it worth setting him down for 1 yr? Ruiz is the only IOL ranked a head of us, with bringing in IFEDI and holdovers Bars- Coward. Ruiz may start but we're doubling up on assets we have at that spot. A bigtime WR would bring added speed for our offense but may not even be a starter his first year. A RB starts out 3rd on the depth …

In looking at which QB starts for us, I read about many things each does well, but that got me thinking. What traits are going to be most important. Downfield passing is one that so often comes up, but simply not what I consider all that important. In a perfect world, it would be great to have a QB that can connent deep w/ his reciever, but I just question how much of our game will be centered about that. We have Hester to run downfield, but beyond the WR, or even the QB, I simply question our OL. How many here believe we have an OL that can pass protect long enough to allow WRs to run deep routes. IMHO, if we try to allow deep patterns to open up, we will see a…

The Bears have 3 picks in the first 83. It would be really nice to trade back at some point and pick up a 4th, then get 4 of the top 100 prospects from these positions (2x OT, WR, CB).

This is the first offseason since I have been here on this board and the old board that there has been some solid buzz daily. The NFL has kept all of its fans on their collective toes since the end of the season. There has been something newsworthy just about everyday since the end of the season starting with JA getting launched to the current FA frenzy now. I can honestly say that this has kept me stoked and I love it because of all the sports to follow this one does it for me. How does everyone else feel about this?

Louis Delmas Would look great in a Bears Jersey, especially since we have a more experienced Aaron Rodgers, Percy Harvin, Pettigout and Stafford to contend with next year.

Just heard Mayock on ESPNradio1000 predict that some teams will move up for Flacco/Henne before Miami has a crack at them with the 32nd pick. Question? Would you trade your 2nd and a 3rd or something along those lines for a 2nd First round pick. Also side note: he said that Flacco is "something special" in person whatever that means.

I was fully prepared for the complete overhaul of our roster after we gave away Brandon Marshall for next to nothing. I expected to see Cutler traded for little to no value as well as Forte. So far all we have done is a quick signing of McPhee to play OLB and some interest in signing veteran safeties. We've shown interest in a couple other players like C Wisniewski and ILB Mason Foster. Other than that we added Eddie Royal to the WR corps. This is not a complete overhaul of the roster. Reading this article on Royal had some interesting tidbits in particular this quote about Cutler: http://chicago.suntimes.com/bears-football...rting-ryan-pace ‘‘He liked t…

  13. So here we go, game two of the early season and our team is 2-0 for prime time (not wins, just appearances). The first game at home in front of a friendly crowd with all our new toys. Seattle is a mess in so many ways . It makes me personally happy to see Pete Carroll wince in agony when his team isn’t doing well. I suspect (and hope) we’ll see a lot more of that next Monday. How will Trubisky do with a weeks worth of game time and more practice/preparation under his belt? Will Nagy manage the game a little differently (smarter) than last week? Will Smith get more playing time this game (as he should)? Will Mack solidify his hold of 2018 Defensive Player …

We played a lousy game Sunday and with NO coming up, keep in mind. NO has played 3 games at home. There only road game they had trouble beating a lousy team, TB 16-14 There strengths are our weaknesses, Graham and Sporles, but keep in mind we have Kromer on our team now. I think Kromer will give us insight that will help greatly. NO have never played well in Chicago. There are coming off a short week. Teams have been able to run the ball against them, we need to pound the ball and hold the clock. Graham will get his catches but the key to this game is stop Sproles and we will be in good shape. Im an optimist, (what did the optimist say when he …

  15. http://bearingthenews.com/?p=1427 Moving Williams to Center a Risky Business Neil Hayes at the Chicago Sun-Times says that there have been discussions at Halas Hall about moving offensive tackle/guard Chris Williams to center (http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/bears/5040308-417/bigger-is-better-as-bears-look-to-add-to-offensive-line.html). Its an interesting idea but I really question whether it will work. As we consider this possibility, its worth noting the comments that Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano made about moving guards to the center position last month (http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_football_dolphins/2011/03/upgrading-center-spot-is-…

So I sent a simple email to the Mr. Hicks care of the Bears a few weeks ago, just telling him that he has become one of my favorite players in the past 60 years. I enjoy watching him and his interviews and told them I thought he seem like just a big guy having fun. In the mail today was an autographed photo. For an old fart it made me feel like a kid and made my day.
